These figures are so awesome! My wife gave me a Super7 Skeleton yesterday for Christmas. This was my first EVER Christmas toy in 1989! Almost cried... Even feels like the original. Love this Mer - Man version too.

Old video, but just found your channel and binge watching your content. The nostalgia-induced collecting bug has hit me HARD and since it's exceedingly difficult to find product on store shelves I'm getting my MOTU high vicariously through you. Toy channel growth rates have slowed across the board, but keep up the great work!

Wish Trap Jaw wouldve came with his silly glow in thr dark ring But all and all TJ is and always will be my favorite He-Man figure in any form

I still have mine somewhere. The trick was to make a Skeletor coin (they were plastic, not paper) disappear to be replaced with a He-Man coin. I'd explain more but you know magicians and secrets. :D

Great insight Dan, thanks. I’ve been looking forward to these. I love the comparison times.

I wish Super 7 was still allowed to do MOTU stuff. They had some good ideas. I know people don't like their QC at times but these figures were cool and the Filmation stuff was cool. I wish Mattel would let them do one wave of each a year. Everybody who grew up with this stuff is getting older and I think we all want to have the complete collection and enjoy it all before we get too old.

Orko had a plastic pull tie in the 80s so he would spin around which was great at the time x loved Orko too 😂👍

I feel that Super7 was just hitting a stride with these figures. Mine came in and look beautiful! I really wish they could keep the 5.5’s going. Although we are fortunate to have Mattel doing 5.5’s again. Keep up the great work Dan! We can’t wait for the book 😊

Dan these figures are probably closest to the filmAtion and probably better than the origins line. Now if mattel is going this route for this line in 2024 this are the figures they should go with. Good video sir

Also, apparently the pink colors are mostly thanks to a Filmation employee who simply loved the color pink. Something I found out from my book on the Star Trek animated series done by Filmation. I might recommend reading it if you're a He-Man fan with an interest in Filmation. It's not a big in-depth look, but it has some fun tidbits.

I believe with Prince Adam's sword that they deliberately made it magenta so you have the option. He-Man has the regular sword, so you can trade weapons with him. Having said that, it would have been nice to give us both with Prince Adam.

I just got the origins Orko and it's so good. Now I can't decide whether to sell Super7 one. It lacks the stand but it's got more accessories. They make us keep all the figures ever.

Hey Dan. Another great video. Do you know if there is an articulated Battle Cat that scales with the Club Grayskull (Filmation) He Man?

Love love love trapjaw he was deffo a huge fave of mine when I was little! Always remember that he uses the hoop on his head to zip line in the cartoon but wasn’t till I was older that I noticed it’s a closed hoop not a hook so how does he get on and off of the zip line 😂😂😂😂 1980s continuity

Prince Adam was also a Filmation creation, I believe.

Actually, Adam was from the DC comics miniseries from 1982.

I love Trapjaw and Merman. Not so keen on Orko or Prince Adam....but I'm pretty sure that's just personal taste 🤔

Whereas I think Mer-man has the best facesculpt (because of his bluish color scheme, I prefer it to the club grayskull green skintone) I think Prince Adam and He-man have really ugly facesculpts, the worst facesculpts I've ever seen indeed. I think they should've sticked with the "Benicio-del-Toro" appearance of the vintage line if they didn't (or couldn't) go with a proper filmation style.

@ian mcqueen- prentice I agree with you. IMO, the only "good guy" who looks great in this line is Man-at-arms. Merman and Trapjaw are awesome! Skeletor is awful though, he seems as if he had brushed his teeth with tar. And beastman, well he's not that bad but he kinda reminds me of Biff Tannen.

I'm surprised Super7 didn't make their logo look like the Mattel logo like they do for the ReAction figures and their mock Kenner style logo.

Yes, I love and collect the ROTU line. Just want an official 5.5 Conan. Funko came close to it, they showed a great prototype at NYTF a few years ago.

Man, Orko is leaning hard with that magic effect on his hand. Doesn't seem like a viable display option. Maybe they should've added some more weight to the body.

Orko seems fun and close to the animation series, as well as trap jaw. Mer man seems awesome too . I agree with you regarding Adam’s sword I would have liked the same color as He-man. I’m still not a big fan of Adam’s head for this line I find it a bit weird. Do we have any idea of the release date on local stores ?

Im probably alone in this but, I want a filmation style clawful in the 5.5 to go along with my other super 7 ones. Just picked up Orko to go with my classics Granamyr to set him up on top of his helmet like in the episode war of the dragons. Love the review and your videos!

I would have actually liked to see a comparison with Classics Orko as I’ve heard the Super7 vintage figure is BIGGER than the Classics toy. All in all, I’m heartened by the QC improvements, particularly if Super7 decides to continue making non-MOTU 5.5s, which they’ve said they might. I’m less thrilled with how much focus they put on vintage toy accuracy because it interferes with the Filmation aesthetic. These look less Filmation generally than Classics Filmation figures do relative to non-Filmation Classics if that makes sense. Particularly with Origins coming up, I wish they had focused less on remaking classic vintage characters and focused more on roster filling the vintage line. As such, She-Ra, Filmation Hordak, Evilseed, Shadow Weaver, He-Ro, and Eldor are my stand outs who may coexist with Origins figures on a shelf. As for things like He-Man, I sold off my Super7 ones and will likely put Classics Filmation heads and armor on Origins figures which only takes mild refitting. Hot water will get the heads on and the armor basically fits already.

I think a big nitpick for me is that these all have vintage toy style belts instead of Filmation belts. If they’d redone the crotches to look more cartoon style like the Classics figures did, I’d have probably embraced them more. As-is, it’s easy to customize Origins figures to be just as Filmation accurate and they’re more rugged toys in-hand.

As a kid, I never cared for the way the legs were. Years ago, when I played with my He-Man figures with my younger sister very early in the morning. I was so fascinated that I could twist and wind up the legs, and just release and He-Man would have this spinning leg action. It wouldn't last forever. One on the legs snapped clean off as he was battling Beast Man. Imagine waking your mom up telling her "Beast Man broke He-Man's leg". lol

Nice video.. They should've made the Prince Adam able to change into Heman. Anyone agree?

I enjoy the card more than the comic, especially since the comics don't even have words in Europe. The cards feel better to display than the paper thin comics that are all the same. The last comic I got was stuck to the packaging and tore!

Great review as always, Dan! Too bad Trap Jaw still has a far too long right arm. As seen on TV? Nope!

I'll be looking to get Trap-jaw and Mer-Man but not really fussed about Prince Adam or Orko (although i do think the Orko is an excellent representation of the cartoon, i'm just not bothered about him personally speaking)

Do the attachments for Trap Jaw attach to the Club Grayskull Trap Jaw? Mattel didn't give the hook and claw in the red color.

How well would this Orko fit in with the MOTU Classics Filmation figures?

I wish the figures weren’t so shiny gloss! I love the prototypes because they are matte or flat paint which look even more like the cartoon.

So here's an interesting question that seems relevant, after the Mattel MOTU Origins line was announced. Do we know if Super 7 will be doing more of these (?), after the next wave including Stratos and Buzz-Off etc? They announced so many of these up-front to begin with, and now seem to have gone very quiet regarding this line. That seems somewhat suspicious that they will be giving up on this, so as to not have to compete with the Mattel Origins retail toys....

What shocked me about these toys in-hand is that they seem delicate - more for collectors and lacking the hardiness that the originals had as TOYS when they were released. My Skeletor's joints seem a little loose and the VERY thin guard on the sword feels like it will break if I'm not careful. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in Super7's Retro MOTU figures.

Jamie V Super 7 does not care about their customers. At all. A friend just got his pre-order 4 months late. Brian, #Super7 Bigshot, is just plain greedy. I’m so glad he no longer can screw fans of MOTU EVER AGAIN. Good luck, Thunder Cats fans! Expect: late, extremely late, bad paint, cheapest plastic possible, bad joints that have an at least 50/50 chance of breaking, and stupid pricing.

Dan, wake up! Super 7 sucks. Orkin can’t hold his wand! And no stand to allude to floating? You’ve blocked me for doing nothing but observing and reporting and listening to other consumers and their experiences. Does your 5.5” Filmation He-Man hold his sword well enough to perform the “twist waist punch” without his sword flying through the air? Have toys gone the route of politicians, paying people off to sing their tune like “special interest” folks in DC?

@@pmgerard Funko is going the Thundercats, but who knows now that Super 7 is doing Classics. Perhaps, that is why we have not seen the Funko stuff since Toy Fair.

For sure. Brian Flynn has said they designed THEIR OWN 5.5 Thundercats at Super7 in a past attempt to get the license and he’d like to fill the void of the MOTU 5.5 Filmation vintage. Based on conversations with Funko designer, Reis O’Brien, the factory QC issues last year and overall response to 5.5s haven’t blown Funko away. Funko no longer has the movie Conan license and will not be releasing those prototypes. They have plans for DC Primal Age wave 3 and 4 and more Thundercats plans but, right now, unless Thundercats wave 2 is a huge hit (they’re up for preorder right now), Funko has largely scrapped further 5.5 plans. It’s very much based on the performance of Thundercats wave 2 if Funko does any and - even then - it sounds like Primal Age wave 3 is the only thing they haven’t outright rejected right now.

Awesome review! I must say, Super 7 has a lot of potential but they need work with their figures! It seems that every figure made has difficulties in holding their weapons and stability problems. I hope they don't goof on the Ninja Turtles toy line! I love the Mattel classics MOTU better than Super 7 line.

That's a commemorative release of orginal Mer-man he showed there.

I want the Merman! His vintage figure always looked way too much like a cat instead of a Creature From the Black Lagoon type guy! That head worked way better when they recycled it for Stinkor.

Orco should have had a flight stand with wheels.

The merman is really the only stand out.

I bought off of Super7 which was an epic fail...no idea when we get them...I shouldve bought from Big Bad Toy Store.

Super 7 needs to keep going with other toy lines - love to see some re-releases based on the original Thundercats and Ghostbuster lines (or even TMNT - not that fond of my gamestop 2019 pack's packaging)

I love that Magic effect on Orko. However accessories not fitting into the hand/slipping out of, is kinda unforgivable to me. It's either a toy and then it has to work for play, or it's a collectors item and it has to work for displaying. This way it's just an in the box item. How I treat my Star wars Retro Collection Figures. They will never be unpacked. But still, I don't like it.

Please tell me these don't have the leg joints moved like last wave, they have to stand so it looks like they have to pee...

Hasbro has learned... It's Transformers are now the same of the Transformers G1. Why Mattel don't do that????

I just hope Super-7 will still continue this toy line I hate Mattel their Masters of the Universe figures costs a whole lot I'd rather get these Super-7 versions.

@@cristianocoelho3618 as far as I'm concerned, they announced their very last pieces of MOTU to be the battle cat and one other figure. Right now I want to know if I should invest in the super7 line or not because in my opinion, the origins line looks really bad. For example skeletors face looks so bad.. whereas the filmation one looks more screen accurate. But then I dont want to invest in a line that's broken.. so I'm torn lol
