A cool custom would be to paint their shells in greyskull green and use them as sentries for the castle .
The original Rokkon was probably the last MOTU figure I ever got as a kid. There was a toy store in our mall called Circus World, and they had a table with random clearance items. One day, I was looking through there and found an unpackaged MOTU figure with no explanation of who or what it was. That, as it turned out, was Rokkon. I got Rio Blast around the same time from the same store in the same way -- no package at all, just the figure.
Take a shot every time he says "pop."

I have alcohol poisoning now...
Thanks Pixel Dan for a great review of these two retro characters. These two were AWESOME back in the day and they're even more so in this modern version. I'm looking forward to Madame Razz and Broom, soon to be available in August!
OH MAN! Was so excited to see these two announced, and love your review of them, as always. You know, I still have my original figures of both these guys too. Great stuff as always Dan. Keep up the great work!
These are amazing, I am blown away by how unique they look, well done Mattel!
I love these guys. Nice review Pixel-Dan.
I agree, I still love my vintage versions, they guard the sides of the door to grayskull to this day on my shelf!
The true "Rock Lords"
Sooooooo can't wait for these guys. Another great review PD.
Hello Dan ! I've got to say , i love these reviews of Masters Of The Universe Classics . I grew up with MOTU as well , so i'm a huge fan .
I had a Stonedar when I was a kid that was all pulled apart by a former Friend I had. This took me back when he was all put together. DAMN
Awesome review Dan. Really excited to get these!
Very nice rock warriors...cant wait to get them!
Both look COOL!
I'd forgotten how much I loved my vintage Stonedar as a kid, until I started watching this! Also, when it came to Comparison Time, it really stood out to me how much the Classics figures are like the old toys as you remember them, compared to how they really were...!
I have to say, I had the original Stonedar and Rokkon figures as a kid and I hated their lack of articulation and the fact that the stone bits were permanently attached, they became unused rock terrain that my figures could crash their vehicles into and I would never actually play with them as figures
That's way awesome!!! I use to have the crater Rock guy. I'm looking forward to picking both the classics & the original figures. Thank you for this review.
Wow these brought back memories. They remind me a lot of the originals.
The first time I had ever heard of these guys were through a He-Man book and tape set I had as a kid. So cool to see the updated versions!
Nice! I used to have the vintage Rokkon as a kid.
I love these guys!!
But to be fair, you love ALL the figures, Dan.
Had the originals and think these are a great homage to them. Will look at a local toy show for them.
Might be the best MOTUC SDCC offerings ever..
Love this 2 pack
Not a bad review. I remember these guys from the He-Man/She-Ra Power Tour. Considering that they're the Comet Warriors, does this mean that we will get Zagraz? (Would love to seem them playing with Doodles, or trading blows with the Cosmic Comet.)
wow they look a lot better, i miss my old one lol great review
Kind of bummed out about the execution of these guys, but I'm glad we're getting them. Rokkon was a favorite of mine as a kid.
I had to grab my original vintage Stonedar for this review!
Since most of the rock parts are detachable can they be interchangeable?
this make me wonder, with these rock men could we get the 3rd comet warrior Granitta?
I don't collect MOTUC nor have I ever been a He-Man fan (I'm a TMNT guy) but I always watch your reviews because I find this line fascinating and your passion really comes through.
If they release Granita, then try to get her to obtain all three of them
Hey Dan will you be reviewing SDCC exculsive Man of Steel exclusive package?
I have an original Rokkon, I wish I could get my hands on one of the new ones
Don't worry, it will also be available at matty.
I have been a subscriber of MOTUC since the beginning. From the time I started I have kept the figures in their package until this past year. As I began opening them, I started to really like figures I didn't think I would and Rokkon is one of those figures. The bright colors, transformation feature and sculpt are so amazing on this figure. He may be my favorite figure of 2013.
Point for the vintage!
Dual kings of the Rock Lords!
Wow, I'm really looking forward to these guys. I do agree that Mattel needs to give the Trap Jaw boots a rest.
Not awed by the rock plates, I was hoping for smaller parts that would work with the articulation, just like Emilianos drawing. If I can get my hands on a set I will most likely display them in "filmation mode"
So far it looks like ill be avoiding the mattel booth this year.
I like the figures, but are their heads removable like most of the other figures?
it's impressive they still managed to use the buck for these guys....and I know it helps to have them blend in with the rest....but with all the updated G1 transformers characters out now, I wish Mattel would've also made an updated transforming toy that looks great in both modes, without extra pieces, and have decent articulation...but who has the money
is time to display rocks in the master of the universe collection.
Love them!!!
How they were in the old days to me. I used to use them like Cobra La attack and capture devices. Open and grab Joes.
i love em.
very nice!
These figures and you review "ROCK"
What about the marvel legends and mu exclusives?
I hate to be negative because I love MOTUC so .... much !!! But I am getting sick of the TRAP JAW legs though . With that said , Great review as usual , and I can't wait to get these guys !!! happy sunday !!!
These two are my favorite releases to date. They were such à huge part of my childhood,id bring them every where with me. I will be pacing the floors until i have Stonedar and Rokkon, get double too,Cuz i gotta have one to keep and one to open, lol,Hey Dan,hook à whiteboy up with them prototypes, ppppplease, lol.
I agree with you, Dan! :)
Me too!
Hahha awesome i always loved these! bring on the cheese! i always was a sucker for strange characters.
Dude how did you get the rock warriors before Octavia? Matty still hasn't sent you her review sample yet? Been waiting to see the review on her for a hot minute. By the way, good review on the rock warriors!
Think ill be displaying mine without the armor
These will be sold on eBay as soon as I get them.
well, to point out this, and i'm sure you're not the only one who gripes, but the vintage figures reused alot of parts aswell, soo i understand theres a gripe about reused parts, but when you get into motu, they're known for reusing parts all the time. though frankly i'm looking forward to a new adventures skeletor. both versions. i think it'd be nice to go with the new adventures heman
Good grief man, STOP WHINING! I have ALL of the figures from the 80's & have had 2 Subs since day 1 as well. And I do not have these yet either. The point in collecting is to COLLECT them, which sometimes means hunting, searching and actually having to obtain hard to get toys of the line you collect. SDCC sets are easy to get for a meager mark up usually not to mention put on Matty later. I got screwed over on Strobo last month but Im not crying over it! I will get it eventually!
i remeber this guys they was in first he-man story that i ever read called (He-man Ja Liejuhaudan Vanki) He-man And Prisoner Of SlimePitt
mmmmm I had rokkon as a kid. I like the sculpts and I like the look I just wish they transformed the same way as they did back in the 80's. it would've been simple enough to keep them the same way and not add any detaching parts. I don't know something seems off.
Love these 2 , sucks how they transform in classics but stil wicked cool figs
mhmm...I'm waiting for the December fire sale for these same as I did with Vykron. Not impressed at all
Lol,I only found out last year that these guys actually were toys :P I remember seeing them in the magazine towards the of the run and I thought they were just made up lol
I´m sooooo changing my name to Rokkon!
Gee Mattel, thanks for making SanDiego Comic Con exclusive figures! that way you can be certain that someone like me, who has collected every single original 80's MOTU figure since age 4 but lives in Michigan will never, ever have a chance own them! It's bad enough you charge $20-$30+for the Classics line, which requires a ridiculous subsription and known for low quality constructon (reversed shoulders? limp joints esp. ankles, etc). thanks for honoring the real fans by screwing us over.
You're either too young or you missed their vintage counterparts when they were released.
You need to start doing reviews again with origins and Masterverse. What happened to you!
Highed-ar and Stoned-ar LOL
the ones we had as kids turned into rocks better. my freind smashed a window with hes rokkon it was that rock like
Vintage figures had better transformation feature, but I understand the feature was sacrificed for the benefit of appearance.
I HAD THE ORIGINAL ONES
where octavia
Rokkon looks much better than stonedar in rock form.
Great review as always. I just hate that the figures are a sign of the end of this line :(
REMAKE MODULOK ALREADY!!!!!
the tabs and loops on the legs look awful when the figures aren't folded up and when they are folded up in rock form it doesn't look as 'flush' as the vintage toys. they've come a long way from the 'cheap look' of vykron's clip on stuff, but i feel the 4H still have a lot to learn about click on armor/accessories. nice review, poor figures.
I love them BEACAUSE they're kind of lame... that's how toys were in the 80s, cheesy but awesome at the same time. Come on... my Gobot's face was a windscreen. :P
Good review but, the Rock Lords are better. lol
SO BASICALLY NO ONE BUT LIKE 50 PEOPLE WILL BE OWNING THESE FIGURES MATTEL IS MISSING ALOT OF MONEY WE OUT HERE WAITING FOR MASS PRODUCTION DOES MATTEL FORGET HEMAN HAD BILLIONS OF FANS IN THE 80S AND MILLIONS NOW ALTHOUGH WE ARE ADULTS NOW
Ahahahahahahahahah
This is not a transformation. This is just attaching crap on a regular figure, bend it forward and pretend it looks like something.

I don't really see how they could have done it differently and still maintained the articulation. Nor do they look that different from the vintage toys in rock form IMHO.

I thought the same he man slacking compared to the amazing work on transformers at the same time. Oh here have this it turns into a rock 😂😂😂i did have rok on tho and thought he was cool
FAIL - that's sooo complicated! So sad - I really loved the vintage version...
...The old ones was much better.
Hmph. Another toy company ripping off the Rock Lords...
stop bragging
The transformation is kind of meh. Seriously. Very lazy.

Perhaps but they weren't meant to do anything fantastical and amazing. If that had been the case a decision would have been made a long time ago. However, today they can be made to do just that if and when a decision is made to do so
