Roger Dunn showed you things many years ago about motion that are very important in a golf swing. Forces working in opposite directions causing balance and speed to occur. I saw it at the driving range when he was talking to you, grabbing your club and shiwing you. I remember

Sandy grew up on the course ive grown up at, hawkstone park, his dad use to make him hit balls through a gap in a tree on the practice ground, that tree is still there today. such a fantastic swing before he changed it to 'get more distance'... such a shame, he was such a pure ball striker before that... Love this video Christo, keep up the fantastic work!

I have a theory on why OTT swing works so well for people. Hear me out, this might just be bro-science. The hardest 'fault' for amateurs to fix is the urge to hit at the ball which causes an over the top move. Lets say you bring the club back on plane (or over plane) and then rush at the ball, you swing OTT of the plane and an out to in path. If you takeaway the club under the plane then you get a green light for the 'hit' and now the OTT move is actually getting you back on plane. Because the 'hit' sensation is such a natural move for people, they can generate more force because that movement pattern is ingrained. Its then taking one variable out of the path/clubface equation and so makes for faster improvement as the golfer now just has to work on squaring up the face rather than also having to fight the urge to hit, and therefore fighting their natural mechanics. Ive definitely had major accuracy improvement swinging OTT and can hit the same distances feeling like im swinging 70%

Absolutely the right shoulder connected to upper arm at the transitional part of the backswing/ down swing must vertically drop downward/ inward never outward/inward ( bad OTT) as the body is shifting its weight to its lead left side. Although In order for this to work correctly the club head must be square at the top of the golfer swing and never opened or closed. Cheers🥂👍😊

If instructors would just work with the swings that people have mainly with their hands of squaring a club face people would get better quicker. I know I have a steep swing more steep than it is over the top and I've been trying to Shadow the club out for years and just cannot do it

A neutral gripe can naturally square your club head at the top transitional part of your backswing/ downswing. At this point your right shoulder and right upper arm should naturally drop inwards: not outward ( bad OTT) as your body shifts to your lead side. Also the traveling weight of your club head should be allowed to guide your hands and wrists as your alternating hips and knees are serving to rotate your body back and forth as you are swinging your club back and forth. Cheers
