I taught mine to scratch their little cat scratcher things, it works pretty well bc if it’s not time to eat they are just engaging in a healthy activity (until they start the next phase: house plant and charging cable terrorism)

Cat 1 to cat 2: DUDE seriously my human is SO smart! when I ring this bell they give me a treat, It took a long time to train them but its well worth the effort.

. . . And you have just described the trick to training cats! You have to realize that this is how they "think". . . so to train them, you have to get them to think its their idea to do whatever it is you want them to do!

Over the years my Mastermind cats have taught me to get up at 4am to feed them, let them out, let them in, play with them, give up my work chair, give them rubs, make room on the bed, never close a door, and roll a ball on the lawn for them to chase. I am well trained!

DreamingCatStudio - That's one of the differences between cats & dogs, dogs have masters while cats have servants. My boys have me well trained & reconfirm who's in charge on a regular basis.😸😸😸😾 Thankfully they don't have opposable thumbs & we have knobs on our doors or they would be opening doors at inopportune (read embarrassing) times.

New apartment. Pack of dogs barking all night for 3 nights in a row. Last night I stuck my head out the window and barked back at them. @@lianapop3127 if dog bite your face it doesnt mean hes stupid but violent. Nothing to do with intelligence, violent people are often highly intelligent. I do think that cats are a bit smarter in general than most dogs and because of that much more independent. But at the same time cats can be violent towards kids even more often than dogs because they dont really like kids (most of them) as kids dont understand boundaries. Also cats dont have that much power to really hurt humans, imagine cats being dog size. Some of them would tear kids apart, and it wouldnt mean they are dumb at all. Dont mix personality with intelligence.

@@lianapop3127 That really says more about the dogs owner than the dog. I guess nothing is smart, from cats to dogs and yes humans, they all bite, scratch and scar the innocent. I myself was bitten by a dog, right in the behind, I was 6 I think. I hold no resentment towards him, knowing what I know on how he was "raised", but I do hate his owners for treating him so poorly.

My cat (who i sadly passed away) used to open any kind of windows with his paws. He also opened them for his sister

Among other traits, of course. I thought I'd just add a different perspective.

I love the cat opening the sliding glass door. My cat did exactly this to my neighbor's apartment because they had a fish tank and he liked watching the fish. :) One day I couldn't find him and I was calling his name only to hear him through the walls. So I literally yelled to him, "damn it, Remmy. You're in the wrong apartment!" Then I watched on the balcony as he ran like hell out of there and into mine.

+cubomania3 I I agree. Most people I've met that hate cats, hate them because they are not like dogs. Or they blame the cat for being destructive when they are the reason the cat is doing the behavior. I used to know someone who HATED cats. Got mad when the cats did their business on the carpet, yet the sandbox was literally disgustingly dirty literally every time I saw it. If the box had been kept clean, the cats would not have been going on the carpet! Then he'd get mad when the cats would claw the furniture, except he had no cat trees for the cats to sharpen their claws on. If he'd bothered to gt scratching posts for the cat, it would not have been sharpening it's claws on the furniture. Simple fix, but he hated cats, and would rather blame the animal than himself.

My old 2 cats (who have both died by now) used to say No and open doors. The went on their hind legs and used both their front legs to turn the door knob, it was so cute. You could clearly hear the difference when they'd meow and say no. Like you could do something to irritate them and they would say "noo" :') rip cocoa and marshmellow💔😿

I have a cat that loved rubber bands. She would collect them and hide time in piles around the house. She would get them out of the drawer by grabbing onto the handle and lifting her hind feet off the ground and riding the drawer as it opened from her weight and then jump in and get the rubber bands. She would never do it when I had the camera out and I moved since then and the new drawers are too sticky, she can't do it in the new house.

the Jenga cat is a lynx point siamese, just like my Zoey. she's very smart and more like a human really, I wonder if the trait runs in this breed.

I also have a lynx point and Misty is very much human, but she's a brat lol. She's pretty good at jumps and agility but her eyes are cocked-eyed so she's kinda derpy.

My cat was a lynx point too, and human is the exact word I would use to describe her. She was extremely bright, but also very compassionate and would look at you with the most human expressions. It was kind of uncanny and I figured that she had been a person in a past life or something because I’m certain she was always thinking about something

Siamese are very intelligent cats--very patient too. They don't fair too well when they do get sick, though.

The look that kitten gave his or her owner was of pure love and it was adorable

Almost 14 years ago, a non-pedigreed snowshoe named Jenny joined my family. We knew she was smart (or at least manipulative), but we didn't know her true intelligence until several things happened: 1)When I put my phone down for her to listen, she grabbed it with her paw and pulled it closer to her ear - just like a human. 2) She started to understand and respond to entire sentences: "You forgot [to hide] your tail." "Put your paws under the door so [your sister] can see you." 3) Last but not least, she plays "Made you look." "Jenny, what's that? Do you year a mouse in the attic? Is that why you're watching the ceiling?" Jenny: makes eye contact with an "I thought you were smarter than that" look.
