@@MotoJitsu The proper way to take a corner is to go in slow enough that you don’t overtax the front tire and pass the apex under power. This sets the attitude of the bike so that if there is a loss of traction, it’s on the back wheel while under power. This is a far more controllable situation than any alternative.

Does this mean that you should accellerate through the corner or or just at the exit. I have heard others say that you should maintain constant speed through the curve. Which and why is it?

I personally knew two people who crashed in a curve and died. Too fast to negotiate the curve and they both went off the road and hit an immovable object. One 60 year old and one 20 year old. The 20 year old passed away in June and was riding with 2 buddies and wearing a helmet. Sheriff said speed was a factor in both deaths. I believe failure to negotiate a turn should be our top priority for practice...did I say practice? I think I said practice.

A while back I was doing most things wrong like your explaining but now I think ahead and do it right. I even drive my car into corners at reduced speed and follow these rules. "STUPID" comes around the corners on a regular basis and "I DON'T CARE" is usually right behind them, in fact I'm sure they're texting each other talking about making sure they turn on their signals after they kill you, for insurance purposes. DRUNK/STONED and MURDEROUS drives along with them. For the record Fast Eddie knows what the hell he's talking about IMHO. Good job brother!

This channels going to be a huge success,it's all good advice.I gave up group riding a long time ago, mainly due to seeing too many risk takers and not wanting to see someone hurt or worse,I am happy with my riding, but I do everything I can with respect to advance training, trackdays, wheelie schools etc etc but for me solo riding suits me,I would just say do all you can to improve your control including watching informative videos but above all practice your ass off.Do it all just be safe.

Hi from the UK, I’m a self taught biker and I have managed to keep safe over the last 30 years. Truth is though self taught doesn’t really cut it. There’s often a nagging doubt about am I doing this right, I’ve done many mountain passes in Europe but 100% confidence is not there. Perhaps 80%. My low speed manoeuvring really needs to come up to scratch too. I have been watching lots of your videos and will continue It’s best that I do Goldwing Tour arriving soon. I’ll be fine on normal roads but must get in tune with my new bike. Thanks so much, fantastic resource.

Thanks for this video. I'm recovering from my first crash in, you guessed it, a curve. I've been replaying it over in my head and your video lays it out for me to diagnose what happened. too fast for my skills, target fixation, in a bad mood, and probably a little too overconfident. luckily i was wearing gear so just a shoulder injury from the initial impact and some scrapes from wearing regular jeans. my gloves, boots, jacket, and helmet did their job and saved me from major injury. i appreciate the knowledge.

HI, again Eddie, I totally agree with your explanations on everything in this video. Especially about the countersteering. I took a bad line (wrong line) approaching a very tight hairpin turn a while back, ended up in the opposite lane, good job there was no traffic otherwise I'd have had a smash. Almost stalled too nearly dropped the bike. When we pass our riding tests, all that does is say "He/She can ride the basics" and we have to develop riding skills from that point onwards. I bought Le Park's book "Total control" last year and Wow what a great book. Today I'm ordering your books from Amazon - "Master riding program 1 and 2 " also "The road to mastery" today. Looking forward to a good reading. They are not available through the Play store which might be better. Keep up the good work Eddie, you're a gent and a star. Regards Dave. P.S. I just tried to join your Discord site but it's not working???

I have to say that I'm extremely pleased to have discovered your channel! I bought my first HD in 2008 with much guidance from friends who nurtured my growth. Today, at 62 I'm happy to say that I've taken two classes and have practiced far more than rode for fun. Every ride i learn something New and build on my skills. I have my friends to thank for that. And I have you to thank for reinforcing those habits. Keep up the great work and know that you are affecting people positively through your media.

I will most likely purchase your app. Have you ever presented on wind effects in cornering? Especially in the mountains of Cali and here in LasVegas. The desert winds can stand a bike up very quickly and HD’s tend to fight lean due to their tire set-up. Your thoughts?

Love your videos. Pragmatically simplistic! :) One thing no one mentions is the yellow speed limit sign. That's the adjustment speed needed for any conditions for the curve. I am always adjusting to a ratio of that. If it says "15" then I know at my riding level I need to adjust down to close to 15. But if it says "30" than I know I'm good around 40. But all is relative. The signs tell you what to expect.

  • @MotoJitsu

    @MotoJitsu

    5 жыл бұрын

Yes that’s a suggestive speed not the speed limit...if it says 30 the speed limit on the road my be 55...like you said all relative.

I always take a new turn at the suggested limit. Sometimes the suggestion is my skill limit too. I can adjust next time if I need to.

Talking about counter steering reminds me of a Funny experience I had recently . I went riding a friends four wheeler on a little track on his property. Now I’ve been riding bikes for 30 years but never rode a four wheeler so I was really surprised when I came up to the first turn, a right hander and immediately shot off to the left into the woods. Great videos, always something new to learn or refresh my skills

Great video with everything well explained. I've been riding for 14 years with a break for medical reasons up until early last spring. I still have a lot to learn and am just getting out of the rusty feeling phase. I ride and commute year round. I need to work on entering my turns later when riding briskly on country roads for sure. I've always understood counter steering, but am glad you mentioned pulling on the opposite side of the direction your turning. I know it's always been explained as pushing on the side of the direction you want to go, but I've found myself naturally pulling on the opposite side (I know I do both though). I guess I'm just weird, 😆.

Dont get me wrong Max Wrist is an insane rider but i think people might look up to him and start riding like him and they probably kill themself doing it since it requires practice. Wish people like you would get more attention or i should say more regular attention since some of your videos do reach alot of people thankfully.

Hi! I'm watching your video While I am waiting for my motorcycle to get out of the insurance workshop because I crashed cornering an S curve, exactly as you describe it. Luckily I only got a big scrap in my knee (the only place I didn't have protection).. How I wish I would have seen it before. Did all the No-no's you mention. First bike, Scrambler 800, only the basic course, getting over confident, not knowing how to countersteer... What bothers me the most is that I always study, practice, etc. In all the sports I've done (scuba, Skydiving...) and I didn't this time. Well probably what I've been trying to say is thanks for sharing your experience. You got a new follower all the way from Mexico City..

I did right away’ “ total control”. Thank you and God bless you. I have been neglecting checking my chain tension. It looks good but I have to really check and lubricate. I will go for a 100kml road to work more on my counter steering. I have notice it’s fun to practice always. The tight turns become sharper. I have a Gxsr750R. Thank you again.
