Mastering Soulful Guitar: Essential Techniques and Licks for Soulful Playing

Музыка

Here is a lesson on the essential techniques and licks for playing Soul Guitar. My inspiration for the parts is the masterful playing of the Isley Brothers, Steve Cropper, and of course, Jimi Hendrix's legendary rhythm guitar playing.

In nearly 20 years of watching KZread, you are one of the most wonderful players I've found on this platform brother. Thank you for your time, effort, and humility. You've already unlocked so much for me and I've been playing since I was 12. Totally self taught and by ear, with zero guides on what to study or practice. My ear has always been 10 times faster than my brain and the way you break everything down is actually amazing. I appreciate you and would love to chat music sometime! Peace! 💪🏾

Thank you for putting this together. I have heard this stuff all my life and its really great to see how it hangs together. I think dynamics and feel are key elements of this style wouldn't you say?

Yes this is true - I should have mentioned that. The dynamics go a long way to producing the sound. Thanks

Great lesson! Among the hundreds of songs that use this style, I am reminded of "Third Rate Romance" by the Amazing Rhythm Aces.
