Thank you. I'm panting a Daredevil statue for the first time and I really wanted to add a 5 o'clock shadow. This looks great!

Thanks for sharing, I always add 1-2 drops of flow improver in washes just to reduce surface tension. Pastels are great, u can always feather or remove it with a clean dry brush.

Never worked with flow improver before but I should give it a try. Thanks for the tip!

@@evolutionxstudios Learned that from a tutorial, water has a lot of surface tension, it’s the reason why u get rings or sharp edges when doing washes or glazes, flow improver reduces surface tension and makes it seep better in the crevices but only add 1-2 drops. It u add to much it will feel more like oil than a wash. Used to used it for glazes too but now I switched to glaze medium as it makes the paint more transparent.

Would I use the same colors for a black character?

Yes!
i use Tamiya smoke mixed with a bit of water and use a hard brush to dab it off and then stipple it on if i get to much then i dab it off with a pad or cotton swap

I want to add stubble/growth to my Present Toys' Indiana Jones ala Raiders. So his is more beard than shadow. Can I go in immediately with brown pastels or would you recommend the 5 o'clock shadow first and build up with brown pastels after that from there?
@evolutionxstudios

I guess I would rather try to paint the small stubbles or try to dab it on with a stiff brush

@@evolutionxstudios but would you bother with a bluish 5’o clock or just start off with brown?
@evolutionxstudios

@@nealsalesky244 probably brown yeah. You can check the tony stark head sculpt video that I did I think I made something similar there
Hey great tip! What is the material you are using? (The palette with colors that you use to scrape and get the colored powder)
