    Great, detailed lesson on palm muting Tim! I enjoy watching you play. When things are done right, everything sounds good. You can play the low E and totally rock it. You can tell you are good even when playing one string.

    is there a name for stabbing your pick down to create a harsher sound on acoustic?

  • @TimHolman

    @TimHolman

    3 ай бұрын

    If it's a downstroke stab that you're referring to I would just call it an accent. There are different degrees of accented notes/chords and notation even has symbols to indicate an accented versus a heavily accented note.

    ive never angled my pick to alternate pick and have no problems

    if i use a sharp pick i need to angle it,but a more rounded pick would work better with no angle.It also change the palm muting tone,just depends on what you're aiming for.But there shouldn't be any tension

    do you palm mute to cut bends off at the top or do you use your fretting hand?

  • @TimHolman

    @TimHolman

    3 ай бұрын

    Great question! I actually use the pick. I guess that's why I never thought to include it in this video. I place the pick on the strings as if I'm about to do a stroke. The palm would also work but I prefer the tightness of the pick and the control it gives me.

    Hey thanks! I’ve struggled to find good advice. It’s so hard to get the palm approach working quickly. Maybe that’s just the learning curve I’ll give it a shot
