Mastering Kokanee Salmon Fishing At Stampede Reservoir Insider Tips For Epic Catches Educational 102

Спорт

A new video to help de-mystify the sport of catching Kokanee Salmon! This video should pair well with the first video that I filmed at Stampede as a learners video. Now a 102 video to accompany the 101. The fishing has been tough this year and has challenged some of the best fishermen on the west coast. The Pisces Outdoor Team took 10th place at the Kokanee Derby out of 85 teams, putting us into the winning circle. Very exciting to place on my second Kokanee Derby ever. The Lake has gone through a huge transformation this year. With an incredible abundance of water from the difficult winter, the lake is the highest that I have ever seen it, and remained full all the way into August. The lake is still busting with fresh water. Also a poor pollen year, you can see the yellow pine pollen on the surface of the water. My hope is that the pollen can play some benefit to the bio-diversity of the lake. It was only a few years back that the Reservoir had a calapse to the fishery. Many fish just dead on the shore line. Mother natures way of saying, "it is not working". The Reservoir is bouncing back, but this winters long ice was hard on the fish. Lots of fresh clean water in the lake, but clean and clear and cold it was. Not a benefit to the food sources this year. Long ice makes for low light, equals low photosynthesis, equalling low oxygen levels. Tough on the fish, but the full reservoir is a good set up for next year. I think 2024' is going to be better than 2022' and 2023'. A man can dream at least. Thank you to everyone watching, supporting, and enjoying the films. It has been great to talk with people all over about this common interest. Like Subscribe Follow. Thank you! Stay Safe and FISH ON!

Nice video and good knowledge. I’ve fished Kokanee for many years and 1.3mph always seems to be the optimum speed. Kokanee are a very finicky fish. They can be picky or hit anything and everything. Trolling zigzag pattern can show the best speed and a constant barometric pressure is needed as well.

Awesome, I hope you crush the kokes. I don't know fish lake personally, but look for structure, identify the inlets and the spawning grounds, as we near the spawning season, fish should move toward these areas, and start to stack up. I also always search current lines. Salmon love cold fresh water sources nearby. Use your electronic to find and mark the school, and hammer down. Fish will be at their highest part of the water column early in the morning and descend deeper as the sun comes up, typically. Fresh corn - fresh scent, best of luck!

Most of this year's adult fish will be into the metamorphosis stage, there will still be bright chrome smaller fish that will become next years adults. The trout seem to get going better at that time too, and there may still be a good small mouth bass bite. Good luck, I hope the trip is a big success for you!

This was shot in June, fish this season were in a strange routine, but we found them most of this year between 30-60' in water with a max depth of 80-120'
