Hello, first off I enjoy your content. No one is out here trying to teach new techs correct practices. We wanna see a twinned system ac and coil/components and installing tips.

Installing one tomorrow, got the units in, and this video and comments gave me very good insight into what is going on. I'm using a twining board, but if that doesn't work, I feel confident because I can always fall back on the 24v relay option.

Love the set up. The biggest problem I run into is trying to figure out what the guy before me did. I love a good Frankenstein but an out in the open “industry standard” fix that doesn’t make my tiny brain hurt is awesome.

This was exactly what you are talking about Both of these systems were messed up and not wired properly there were actually 2 relays instead of one and I had to remove 1 of the relays so I know what you're talking about

@@TaddyDigest That is my life. I’ve been doing a lot of work for an apartment complex that was built in the 40s. My frustration had got to the point that I finally talked to the head maintenance guy and told him that he was paying me to fix stuff that his other two crews are screwing up and he was paying for the same word twice. He told me it was in the budget. The other two crews are cheap and he knows they get about 80% of it right so they budget in me batting clean up. I stopped shaving my bill thinking he was loosing money on rework.

I just did a twinning system today with S8X1 furnaces. Was curious if anyone has another way of doing it. I followed the wiring diagram in the booklet and it work great. Glad to see a video of it as well.

You did everything very nice 👍 In my opinion I would put the cheapest thermostat in the return air duct and connect both fan motors in one board! Cheep, fast and will work like second stage!

On board Relays aren’t designed for the load of two motors. Relays will burn up.

@@OcRefrig No way! On board 20amps relay! And you can also take the two wire from relay signal and put one own relay!

How about when you also have 2 separate A/C condensing units? I totally like how you did it with a Peanut relay for heat.

So you are taking common and white and enigizing red and white on the other furnace ok that's a different way than I learned but nothing wrong with it thanks that's why I watch videos always learning a different way to do things keep em coming

Tad do the transformers have to be set up a certain way for something like this

That would be cool. Haven't seen anyone do a video on Twinning boards yet. I like to think about Twinning boards like Zoneboards, only you need an extra board for every system you need to sync phase. I've seen up to 6 furnaces on 1 thermostat. Crazy looking if you've never messed with it. There are some massive churches with this kind of set up. Remember K.I.S.S. in Hvacr. Its easy to over think it when fixing someone else's over thinking.

I’m working apartments built in the 1940’s that have been turned from two bedrooms to 3 bedrooms by removing a wall. They have central heat on one side and a floor furnace on the other side. I was wondering if I could do this twinning so the call for heat signal would be better on the floor furnace? We are replacing the 750mv thermostats like crazy since the floor furnaces are on a separate thermostat anyway.

I enjoyed your video very clear and easy illustration I’m trying to twin 80,0000. BTU 2 stage furnace. If possible please can you give me some Idea or any illustrations? Thank you.

I’m confused. Why add a relay to unit #2 for heat mode v. directly running your red & white wires from unit #1 to unit #2’s board? Thanks in advance!

Can’t do it. Each furnace has its own transformer. 1) if u disconnect one of the furnaces transformers might work if transformer is big enough to handle load of 2 boards and relays.

What about the evaporator coil? Do you have two coil paired together or one big coil?

On this set up it was one big coil

What do I do if one unit goes down? Is it safe to run the other unit while waiting for a repair?

Usually, you have to wait until the other unit is back up. And running Because it's usually one circuit and one large indoor coil

Can't the second burner be wired so it acts like a two stage furnace? Better comfort.

yes, but the building needs the full btu to heat the structures load

How does the refrigerant circuit work in those twin applications is there two line sets for each furnace evaporator coil that goes into a distributor box before it goes to condenser? I’m not familiar with those setups I’m mostly residential.

Only one set of line sets going into that coil The bigger the tonnage The more lion sets

The 24v from the transformer of the second unit are always present on the relay just waiting for the signal from first unit to let it through.

Don't understand why the relay is necessary on the twinning when running an additional set of thermostat wire from one furnace circuit board to the other would accomplish the same. Also, on the York set up, why isn't there a wire going to Y1 in the second furnace that's not being controlled by the thermostat? Won't that prevent the blower from coming on the the second furnace on a call for cooling?

Wiring board to board would not work, they both still need to use their own 24v power to peform the control
