Thank you. I am a newbee and looking forward to more videos. We just had a ton of snow in SoCal, so I'm not sure when to put my 7-frame out? I heard that the last frost will be at the end of April.

We have family in SoCal and NoCal… crazy weather you all have been getting… You can put out traps a bit early. There have been times when we’ve had traps out all year. It won’t hurt to wait a bit and last frost isn’t bad… I typically put ours out a few weeks before last frost (which is now for us).

found a wild bee colony that's underground. trying to skip the swarm trap and see if they'll go in the brand new 8 frame deep hive with the supers on top with the frames in it too setting on a log probably a foot off the ground. used organic lemongrass oil as bait and coated the frames with natural beeswax I bought in a block. not sure where to get old comb. been maybe 2 weeks. should keep waiting or think I'm wasting my time for trying it that way?

I have a 40' container where I believe a colony has been living there for awhile too hoping to coax them into the new beehive.

What I’ve found is that once the bees find a place that they call home, they won’t generally move out of it. There are a couple of ways to get the bees from that situation… it involves either a cut-out, where you go in and physically open up their space and move them (you’ll probably need to cut comb and band it into new frames) - or - attempt a “trap out”, where you give the bees an exit from their existing space, but not an entrance back into their hive). The trap out is a longer process and you will still likely end up having to open their existing location in the end. The cutout is probably the fastest and best answer.

Pretty much the same comment for the shipping container… 😀 I’m imagining the bees are inside the container… hopefully not between steel…

@@TwoDovesBees thanks, but don't want to mess up what they already have going on.

@@hillbilyjed1318 - Don't blame you... It is possible that depending on the size of the space they have, they may throw out swarms as swarm season really kicks in. If that happens, you are primed to catch those swarms. 🙂
