This is a good walk through of the process. One thing I would add though, make sure you are using a Google data cable. I just finished this process yesterday on my daughters Pixel 6 Pro. I tried numerous USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C cables that she provided and none would show the phone. I kept getting the same blank pop-up screen that you got (no phone showing in the list) even though I had already installed the driver. I then asked her for the original USB cable that came with the phone. When using the original it showed the phone immediately and the process completed without issue.

Just got my phone back today without your video I would be completely lost thanks so much 🙏

great stuff! quick, direct, showed on all the steps. I had to download the google driver instead of the OEM from Dell, like in the video. BTW face recognizion sucks in pixel, it's not like iPhone that can do it in the dark. Pixel cannot see your face in the sunset.

Thanks for the tips! my own tip would be to make sure the rear of your new screen is near enough in the location that it would be when fully glued in when you're testing out the fingerprint sensor. The sensor seems to be reliant on a good ground connection via the little spring pins that protrude from the phones chassis and touch the metallic foil on the back of the screen. I had problems getting my fingerprint sensor to work at all before doing this, and thought i had bought a faulty replacement. Cheers

When I try to connect pixel 6a for installation of calibration software with fast boot mode showing error as unable to connect tried with a couple of USB cables still not working. Please Help with a solution. I also installed Google drivers for windows 10pro and device detected.

You most likely need to verify the drivers have been installed properly. If you still can’t figure it out find someone with a mac and as long as you are on chrome it will work flawlessly

It’s best on a Mac with chrome. You have to install the drivers to do it on a PC

I have a pixel 6 and the fingerprint wouldn't work after the screen repair and a screen protector put on. it kept getting halfway through adding the fingerprints then it would say can't complete setup. when I took it back they said the screen wasn't aligned properly and now I can add the fingerprint, but it won't unlock the phone before I try this I was told it would wipe my phone like my contacts and everything is that true?

If you are only doing the calibration part then no, I've never seen anyone lose anything. If you need to do the update part possibly but it should all be backed up to google anyway.

Has anyone had such a problem that there is not even a option(fingerprint unlock, don`t even face unlock ) in the settings?(pixel 6 pro)

Hi, would you mind helping me? In the update Google USB Driver part, when I go to Computer Management, etc... It says "The best drivers for your device are already installed". It's called "MTP USB Device"... On the Pixel Update and Software Repair page, I enter Fastboot mode, I can see my device when I click on "Connect my Device", however when I click on "connect" it gives me a message "Unable to connect the device". I've done these procedures before, the first time I wasn't able to find my device (like in your video), so I just used a Mac and it worked. However this time (yes my screen broke again), I DO find the device, on a Mac and on Windows, but on both I get the message "Unable to connect the device". The person who changed the screen for me accidentally touched the screen during bootup. Could it be it?

Yes, they need to not be touched as static electricity can transfer from the body to the screen completely throwing things off. It might have also just been something defective with the display as well or it wasn’t connected properly.

I followed the troubleshooting and your video. Google Chrome settings are correctly allowing sites to connect with USB devices. On the driver update, it states that my device is already using the best driver "MTP USB Device". I've tried it multiple times on two different laptops and still can't get it to connect. Any ideas?

If you go through the site on a Mac you won’t need the drivers. That may fix it. It’s possible you will need to do the update portion if you’re using a pc.

Thank you very much. I replaced my screen for my Pixel 7 pro and I thought I bought defective screen when Finger-Print sensor stopped working. I took it back to the store where I replaced the screen and they said they cannot help me. They can only check the wires or hardware is connected between screen and sensor. I reached out to company where I bought the screen online and they gave me instructions. Plan A and then Plan B. Plan A did not work but plan was was to install Google USB Driver. That's it. I searched for many videos how to do this but YOUR video was excellent and I was able to calibrate the sensor again to my thumbs. THANK YOU. Abed

You might need to install the drivers on the computer. It’s designed to work best on a mac with chrome

Bro i followed all steps .(success installed )but its not working

I tried this. My Google Pixel Pro 6 had its screen replaced. There is now no observable Add Fingerprint option in the Settings menu. Anyway, I downloaded the recalibration software successfully, and booted from Fastboot mode. Still no observable Add Fingerprint option. However, if I search the Settings for Add Fingerprint, I find it! When I click on the option it presents me with re-enter PIN which I do. Nothing happens. In fact I try this 3 times and dialog box pops up and says "Settings keeps stopping", whereupon I am presented with Info or Close dialog box. In short, I seem to be screwed. Anyone seen this before? Any cure? TIA. 🙂

It’s possible that the display is cracked and interfering with the area the finger is read. It might just need a new display and be recalibrated

I followed every single step and it still doesn't work. 😢 While trying to enroll my fingerprint, it still says the same error message as before and won't push through. I wonder what's wrong when all the steps were successfully done.

That happens when you are not in fastboot loader. Looks like you are at fastbootd screen. Select restart bootloader option and you can then install the software.

Will it erase all data ?

I am not by no means an expert, but I am persistent. In my case, I bought a cheaper version of digitizer/display screen. I followed all the steps in my how-tos but the fingerprint option never appeared in my pixel 6 pro menu. The issue is to make certain you install the google usb driver an select it the windows 10 device manager. Once I got passed that hurdle, the google calibration software actually worked properly and quickly informed me that my device software was not compatible and needed to be replaced with a different build version. But when I tried to flash it, it came back as security locked and I needed to enable developer function, usb debugging and OEM Unlocking. But in my case, this option is not available on carrier-locked devices. So in my case, my device is locked by carrier until I finish paying it off. I have not paid my balance on the cost of the phone, so I cannot choose OEM unblocking. ATT will not give a waiver so the only other option I am aware of is to get a 3rd party to perform the carrier-unlock. !!! But be careful!!! I searched for a "reputable" vendor and thought I found one. They said they would do it for $28.00. But once I paid, they said I needed to pay them another $68 dollars and that was told to me in some fine print on the accept page. I would buy a new phone at 100X the cost before I give those shady cats anymore of my money. So, to be clear, I am only assuming that once my phone is unlocked the process I made it to with the software online will work but will require a factory reset as it is replacing the current software with one that will allow you to get the fingerprint software at least visible again. It will not fix broken or bad installed fingerprint sensors but may give you a fighting chance. Please do your own research, I am not a professional but did notice a huge change in options, once I picked the right usb driver and followed the procedures in this excellent how to guide. Good Luck and please let me know if this helps.
