dude its very easy to shoot at abandoned location, instead of do some commercial spaces, where how we should get contact with huge apartments, commercial spaces company-owners, how we should approach them, where someone is freelancer. COZ who is hire full time is only gets permission or work, but not freelancers, or who just someone started new into interior/architecture photography they don't know how to start. this very easy to get non human places.... & abandoned places are banned in every country, so we don't don't have any option to this, but try with some city area, & commercial spaces, towers, or row house shoots.

There are plenty of channels on commercial architecture photography. Plenty. However - I believe you are wrong about the "non-human places" as 90% of the stuff I shoot these days is WITH permission Someone lets me inside - i.e. not abandoned. and I have been invited to shoot many since holding my website etc - and the skills are transferable. For tips on commercial shooting I can suggest the following as well - I would suggest an amazing portfolio of 10-15 images only in PDF and print versions, in the booklet I would include prices, package details, and information about your experience only. I would then get in touch with firms over email and face-to-face in my local area. Before you do the drop - make sure your website is decent as well and contains great images (only in that genre) and has clear details how to get in touch with you. I also did some marketing videos last year, check them here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKaVyct8ftvRqLg.html & kzread.info/dash/bejne/pGie2LtsZK64lKQ.html

Totally LUV Canon's Live View w/ MAN mechanization; great point about that James. A topic change: personal security. I shoot urban landscapes--stuff in cities but with a broader sweep, a bigger look. More than once I've had to flee a location when the safety equation changed abruptly. Unfortunately, this element of photography is not Google searchable. It's an intuition you've got to develop and you must be able to objectively assess when you arrive on scene. In a couple of places in Paris, London, NYC, especially at night I did all the due diligence, arrived on scene, then had to either leave or leave and return to reassess hours or days later. When you're alone with a lot of high-priced kit, it's a real occupational hazard. My military experiences has kept me alive in a couple of dodgy places.

Brilliant stuff. After going to Kelenfold and Plessa over the past two years I've had my eye on this as the next. Nice to see a tutorial on shooting it as I've heard the lighting is difficult, looks like you managed it well. Although the ceiling is amazing the close up shot is my favourite

Yeah sometimes "less is more" with this stuff. Its no Kelenfold (of course), and its a little bare other than this being an electrical plant, of course.

Fantastic tips and guidance James.. it's amazing how dark it is in reality, based on your footage, prompting those high ISO's. Do you plan to do a post processing video at any time?

Ever consider doing a model shoot in these locations?

Did model photography for a few years - its too much hassle and tbh, zero money in it with way too much gear to carry. I might do a video on it and show some snaps at a later date though!
