    It is true that the duty of a master engineer or master as a whole is evolving, however, it is still considered as an mportant stage. Besides that, I belive that producing and mixing stage are the most important. That means, if the producer or the mixer engineer is good the record will sound good even though the master is not done well. However, if the producer, mixer engineer, or even one of both is bad, the record will sound bad, even if the mastering is good. Wavy wayne, you are the man, you are bringing a lot of knowledge in here, thank you for that!

    Wondering if you know about the Universal Audio Apollo X6 Thunderbolt 3 Audio Interface, I'm considering getting it for the 6 core processing power, I plan to integrate it with my Apollo Twin SOLO as I'll use the SOLO more so as a monitor controller with an additional core processor which will give me up to 7. My question is if I purchase the Universal Audio Apollo X6 Thunderbolt 3 Audio Interface, will it give me more headroom in my mix in the box? With the Twin I have to damn near peek my drums just to get it to knock. I'm using the Renaissance MPC software, I plan on mixing out of the box then finalizing in the box in Protools 2018 for my final mixes. But prior to the out off the box process I need the drums / 808, & bass to hit much harder. The console I will purchase is the Behringer X32 Digital Mixer (32-Channel). This console will be used separate from the Apollo X6 as the engine in protools. Thanks !

    One Audio tip, This goes for studio work or even playing live on stage!!!. I found out to late is to make it sound louder with NOT turning up the volume is boost the midrange. THAT brings everything up more. How come NO ONE talks about a main staple in any ones rack. ? ,"BBE Sonic Maximizer", 482i. You should not even record onenote without it from the soundcheck to final mastering before it goes to duplication!!!

I dont see why its so hard for people to simply say what they're doing. Either they don't truly believe in what their doing, or they're paranoid and think its wise to keep the knowledge esoteric.

    19:21 There ARE Videos like that #facts !!!!! ahahhahahah Real sh***t 20:44 It’s great! to lower that kick BEFORE the mastering compressor so then the compressor will be triggered by what it’s supposed to be triggered by and not just by Kick and Kick only. I have a question here: when I have HP feature on the mastering compressor it means that the kick is not going to trigger that compressor, but DOES IT also mean that that Kick is not going to be AFFECTED by that compressor? That lefts me scratching my head every time… Is it different for different compressor? Cuz what happens often is that it compresses great but then That Kick is too loud after. That’s why I love what the guy says here - I should definitely try, specially since I run my MIX through the tape often as the start of the mastering process which bring even more Hump Thump or however you call it - the lows. And if I wont enable the HP on the compressor than that lowed Kick is just going to be smacked, which wouldn’t be the problem BUT there’s a consequential/final limiting (and sometimes compression which we call “brick wall” type of thing) always cuz we need to raise the out level ad the end right? So BECAUSE the Kick get smacked 2 times in this situation, it gets “over-smacked”. So what the guy says IS BRILLIANT. I just still have this question I asked in the beginning. It’s like I always had the similar confusion about filter on SideChain for let’s say Stock Compressor in Ableton and Logic: the filter affects what the Compressor is listening to (triggered by), or the filter affects what the compressor will be compressing? Well I’m not asking this here I’m just giving another example of a question which might sound dumb but I’m just laughing thinking how many ppl would be using it for years without even asking themselves “what does it really do?” p.s.extremeinstitute.com/

    I'm a little confused as to how mastering in FL Studio would be ANY different than using Protools are Wavelabs. Wave might have certain advantages because its meant for mastering, but overall the plugins are doing the work and the DAW is just rendering data. How would it sound ANY different if you use the same plugins, with the same settings, with the same room etc. Mike Dean masters in whatever daw he feels like that day.

    Hi friend! Fl studio and Ableton, for example, are Producing Platforms. They are not created for mixing nor mastering. Plugins there will function very different as in Pro tools. Im telling you this by experience. Worked on ableton for 2 years before moving to pro tools. The way the daws sum the signals, are really different. The panning is really different also. With different attenuation between mid and sides. And also all the plugins function different. Try to raise 5 db at the input of a Compressor 1176 on Pro tools and on Ableton and you will see the signal is affected totally different. I know you asked 3 years ago buy maybe some people have the same question

  • @LordDRockMusic

    @LordDRockMusic

    @@patopodesta3294 hey man. I'm not calling you a liar, but I have done my own, and seen tests from other people where they render the same signals through the same settings in the same plugins with different DAWs with flipped polarity. In every test either all or 99.999% of the result is completely inaudible. Which would lead me to believe there is no different other than workflow. What do you say to this?

  • @patopodesta3294

    @patopodesta3294

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@LordDRockMusic I would say that you only have to open a file on Ableton. And then open the same file in Pro tools. And you dont need anyone to measure anything. Your ears will be the judge and its pretty obvious. Apart from this, is not a casuality that some types of latin music and edm are done at fl studio. The sum and the audio of the daw is commonly used on that genre. Apart from the workflow of course. Not trying to convince you from anything, just do your own tests :)

    well protools is a "pro" program, has faster work flow and so many fts that make everything easier. while FL was made for producing, youll find while mixing and mastering itll be much annoying and less shortcuts and work flow will take a hit. but final verdict you can do it all on FL if you actually know what your doing.

  • @dulla8469

    honestly a master engineer can probably master in any daw, i learned this from all of you saying the DAW doesnt do you any good only affects your work flow so i dont know why yall dissing on it fl studio is one of the fastest ways to make beats and i love it for that recording is absolute torture but if a person only has that one he can make his song sound as good as another song that was recorded in pro tools

    Every DAW has their own algorithm for processing sound. FL sounds amazing for soft clipping on kicks, but instruments sound warmer in logic. Similarly, everything usually ends up in Pro Tools because its clean and honest. I just switched to Pro Tools and I am hearing the difference!

    Yeah man, usually I learn a lot from your clips, real good stuff. But I'm afraid this one is a bit vague. Ok: only WAVs (minimum 24 bit / 48KHz), no clipping, no compression, keep the mix well balanced. When I wanted continuing to listen to you, there was an error which prevented me from following. Actually I grew up with Cakewalk Sonar, changed to ProTools because I love to work also with Sibelius, which seems to go fine with PT. If there are other clips of yours re. mastering, I'd be eager to watch them. Keep going. - Right, now I can continue watcing this. Getting more to the point at around 23:48.

    That's great. I have the same feeling as Ben, if you have a track mixed, and give it away for mastering, the outcome will not meet my imagination. I actually feel the transit from mixing to mastering is "organic" and should not be interrupted. some of my personal preferences (soundwise) are - ahem - rather extreme, so I believe I should be able to decently master my stuff by myself. What do you think of mastering plugins for DAWs with some presets for various genres? Check me out @ www.bandlab.com/mad_musicologist.

    You can master on any daw, however, its not going to stand-up to a pro mastering engineer, who usually have a special facility for mastering complete with specialized hardware in conjunction with software. Most all of the trap music that is produced at the highest level, is often times mixed in pro tools, logic or if not definitely mastered by top mastering facilities. Just look at the credits on any album you may love within the trap/rap sound. You will always see a separate mixer and mastering guy. Producers don't do everything at home, then send it to the label. It just doesn't work that way

    Why pro tools? Expensive for nothing. Please give me one reason to go with pro tools instead of reaper, for example. I mean for your own studio.

    If yer use to ol school mixing on a desk w/out board gear …PT is great work flow but way too expensive . I stopped w/the updates of PT @ PT 12.7 thats all anyone would ever need. Reaper is great lot more flexibility than PT you can used VST VST2 & 3 AU… plugs w/Reaper but I can't get into the flow if I had my time to go back I would have learned the flow of Reaper I'll never buy anything AVID again they refuse to update their interfaces that older it would only take someone a day to make a $1,500 unit I have work in day just need to write a driver but they won't do it . Stick with Reaper & spend time getting the song right & tight the sound engine some say in PT gives a "sheen" I call B.S. on that Garage Band is light years beyond what the greats had to record the classic's. Don't get caught up in the DAW's & gear a Bag of SM57 & a laptop you can make any record. If yer working w/loops…you really don't need PT 13 …any Lite version of any DAW will be all you need.
