I love having Elias on the tour, it’s like having Jon Power back with his movement and holds etc. he always played a bit like him but since they’ve worked together he’s implemented all the best parts of his game, even down to mandatory bandana!

I don't understand Pajares game. He holds and slows everything down, effectively not applying pressure to his opponent. If his shots were all exceptional, than maybe he would apply pressure with good shots. But they're not.

Agreed, his physicality is his best asset, he should be using it to play a higher pace.

I was watching this game and wondering whether Pajares had great difficulty with the ball or something, because indeed at the pace he was playing you should be placing the ball much more accurately. His dropshots looked like feeding shots during training.

But seriously now. I do think he saved energy and health to use in a match he thinks he can win. He might have some injury. He played way too slow.

I don't recall seeing a professional player with a worse backhand drive. Pajares barely hit a single shot that didn't touch the sidewall AND was tight.

Lengths were so bad also Elias was constantly getting on the ball at the service box

@@16pgtips yup. I am sure he was better last time I watched him play. I guess it could easily be nerves or just a bad day at the office. God knows I've had my share. Shame for him it was in this competition.
