I watched this video 9 months ago and now I have an amazing home studio I am happy with, analogue Midas Vince 320, all effects are guitar pedals with super low noise . a digital tape echo pedal and a flashback x 4 for delays, I write in MPC and track out 6 outputs splitting my drums and this is my starter point to get my dubs practising. Thanks Prince Fatty you helped inspire and give me faith in myself. I feel like a 15 year old finding music again

"If everyone else uses Fenders, then I'd play a Gibson". Integrity and creativity. Most other tutorials teach you the exact opposite; how to copy everyone else and rip of other people's style. I remember when selling out and ripping people off was unacceptable, and if you made a tune that sounded like someone else you would be embarrassed. I wish we still kept that mentality in the modern era, instead of an endless stream of mediocre generic copies off the back of others hard work. I guess it's tough for the vast majority of producers and musicians right now, they're born too late to really explore new ground and coupled with the sheer amount of people on the planet it makes it tough to be an individual or an outlier. Hey ho, life goes on, at least there's lots of financial incentives for people who wanna be different and create new forms!

Knowledgeable guy and I like his approach but there is one thing I disagree with in this video for those who want to buy a tape machine as delay. He says don't get the B version of the Revox and get the A because the B doesn't do 3 ips. There are currently more b77s on the market that do 3 - 7 ips than the high speed version of the b77 that do 7 - 15 ips. Also right out of the box b77 has varispeed and a speed controller remote to go with it without any additional modifications if you search ebay. The b77 is also a great machine and in some ways I prefer it to the a77. The high speed version of the b77 is also a great a mixdown machine for mixes where you want to add some tape saturation and is still affordable and parts are readily available if they go bust but if you want to use a tape machine as a delay make sure it is a 3 - 7 ips machine as he said to get the long delays. Respect to Prince Fatty. Big sound.

I honestly think it has, like what has happened with techno, house, drum and bass, dubstep etc. all of those generes have unground scene keeping to their roots, much like reggae. while mainstream variations of the genres are being pumped out to masses with a more marketable and profitable sound.

60s dub, ei, king tubby/ lee perry invented electronic popular music. the producer became the artist. technology became the instrument. thats 10/15 years before kraftwerks, grandmaster flash and moroder. sure electronic music existed but was a classical persuit for intellectuals. those jamaican producers are at the root of hip hop, techno, electronic music witch dominates the soundscape of today
