Che gentilezza e generosità nella severità che richiede una lezione. La grandezza di un artista si vede anche da queste cose.

David Russell is amazing. I’ve seen him in master classes a number of times and am always struck by how much better his tone is than the students he teaches.

It's not a fair comparison, I think. 2 things 1) $800 guitar vs $8000 2) When you're David Russell, you commission a bespoke guitar, which brings out the best in your right hand tone and colour.

@@tasmedic$8000? David’s Dammann probably ran him close to $25k, and they are now going for $35-50k. I guarantee you David could take any of these students’ guitars and get very close to “his tone”. Certainly, the guitar is important, but the player contributes immensely to the end result.

It’s not about haircut but about music and art. DR is a true artist and a master of his instrument.

I don't mean to hurt your feelings, but your comment is ridiculous. Russell, who is one of the greatest players in the history of the guitar, has had long hair throughout all his career (some 40 or 50 years), which in no way hindered his ability to play this beautiful instrument or make music. Anyone who knows him knows him with long hair. Visually, it is part of his image. Why should he get a haircut? So that a little longer hair doesn't accidentally offend some restrictionist with a blocked mind? Look at history - Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms, Schumann, Regondi, Aguado, Mertz, Shakespeare, Descartes, Spinoza, Einstein, all barock giants with long-haired wigs - Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Purcel... The list could be endless. Open your mind and have a nice day!
