Wow you really have no idea how difficult it is to LEAD an orchestra until you see a video like this. I learned so much. Mo. Jaarvi is very adept at showing colors and character as well as joy and exuberance. Thanks for this.

Just a tip for young conductors: don’t wear white shirts, the baton gets lost in it.

Every word mr Järvi said is worth a fortune.

It’s nice to see a young conductor use so much facial expression. Makes a truckload of difference to the players. Judicious use of melded vs basic beating, nicely done. We learn early not to use melded gestures b/c they ‘look’ good but b/c they get the results we want.

Great orchestra and Mr Jarvis is for sure one of the great conductors alive. No need to pick on high school bands, though. I am sure every brass and woodwind player in the orchestra started in a high school band somewhere. That small commentary aside, great job!

The young woman from Poland needs to find the same speaking voice as her conducting voice. Great job 👏

Also, videographer, why do you keep zooming in on the other student’s face instead if the one on the podium…?

There are few things as uninteresting as a woman conductor. The second candidate is NOT listening to anything Mr Jarvi has to say and she wouldn't care. She"s just living her fantasy in front of the orchestra. The asian girl has no clue, no rithm, no salt. She will not get anywhere. The orchestra is actually reactig to Mr Jarvi conducting behind her.
