@@lentzlundyboxingyour way is the correct way it’s always been taught that way for scientific purposes because everything in boxing every step has a counter step every action has reaction every error has a consequence that’s the science of boxing that’s the proper way to slip punches for 2 reasons a defensive reason which is to avoid error to avoid consequence and 2nd offensive reasons u go shoulder to opposite knee for built offense built in counter punch hip rotation now the counter punch is one fluid motion good job and stand on it next time that is the correct way anything else technically flawed

There’s not many ways to slip punches that’s is slipping punches anything else is something else entirely and most times are just weird weaves slipping punches whole purpose is for counter punching it’s a counter punch move so if u slip a punch correctly u should have a built in counter punch in motion that’s why u go shoulder blade to opposite knee to get built in rotation for a counter punch anything else wouldn’t be purposeful cuz u wouldn’t be in counterpunching position so you’ll be putting urself in danger for no reason when u could just use actual defense block and your feet slipping weaving ducking and parrying are all bait defenses or counterpunch set ups

For the record, I’m totally an amateur, but that right shoulder slip forward can lead you to all sorts of problems if he strafes and/or counters. Clearly your hands have to be super disciplined.

@@andrewtanczyk4009 He's not neccesarily wrong however. Even as an Infighter Myself sure the Frontal Slip is good when Getting Inside or Staying in the Pocket or Rooted in Place so you don't get Pushed Back. But the Back Slip is More Useful for setting up stuff like Pull Counters and Jolt Counters by Backslipping into Dart and Dashing Forward.

Uppercut will definitely have you sleeping so the lean back with strong legs is the best option, it’s basically what Mayweather does to counter the jab just reposition your feet after it’s thrown..

I teach my boxers to slip forward just a glove width so the hand glides over the shoulder,I teach them to not go over as much so they still get a stable base and remain balanced, they can then pivot out from that and counter.I also incorporate parry’s,blocks, laybacks and push aways that I learned on the england boxing coaching courses many years ago

Canelo says not to turn your knees/foot when slipping but then again everyone is different. I feel like the technique you’re showing is good for counterpunching but not as good as just using your hips for slipping using head movement the way Canelo does it.

Funny because its like dancing. You can either move your body. Or your can't. There's no one way to slip punches. Floyd proved that and i never liked his slips. Prince Naseem had a completely different way to slip It's about your body and ability. Not your style or forced mechanics
