I only have a budding interest in tying flies but I use double edged razor blades for skin biopsies on a daily basis. To increase the flexibility of those DE blades, BEFORE taking off the wax paper wrapper, they can be snapped in half long ways simply by folding along long axis and pinching together to break the blade. The blade can be manipulated easier in one hand by pinching and flexing up or down between the index finger and thumb. Not sure if it works with deer hair flies but gives me a very adjustable edge for working on human skin and only one sharp edge to worry about. Beautiful work!
