Almost 16-bit graphics. Master System is Amazing.

It is the simplest of the Mickey trilogy in Master System, but it is still a must-have platform of the system. And it's a shame that the levels are not a bit bigger and more complex like their predecessors because here are lots of good ideas that go unused: The level with north-south magnets, the crystal world with the red and green rays of light , the levers in the lake phase to change platforms, etc. I suppose that since the game was originally for the Game Gear laptop, it had no save or passwords and the batteries of this machine lasted very little, the intention was to make a game that could be completed quickly once the levels were learned. A bit sad if we compare it with the lot of scenarios and mechanics of the Land of Illusion (I still hallucinate with the level of the ghosts in which you have to carry a candle by pressing switches to make the scroll scroll).

The only game of the "Illusion" series that I've never played, looks fun though.

The Sorcerer of Darkness at 40:04 reminded me of Merlock from the Ducktales movie.

That's quite the long introduction for a Master System game, lol, nice game

This trilogy was awesome ( and still enjoyable to play,like a lot of 2D games).

I only learned of this game just yesterday when a relative told me that he'd seen a video talking about a Mickey Mouse game similar to Castle, World and Land of Illusion called Legend of Ilusion. When he said that I thought he was pulling my leg, but said it was a real game made by Sega that was released for the Master System. I was well into the Mickey adventure games for the Sega, but I do not remember ever hearing about Legend of Illusion and never saw it in the games shops. Must've been quite a rare game. I wonder why it wasn't popular?. I suspect it wasn't released in the UK which is why i was oblivious to it.

You there in the exterior got the Game Gear version. We Brazilians got the Master System version,but only in 1998, being the last officially Master System released game(not counting homebrew software.)

Here's a cool Easter egg that is also the path to the best ending. Collect all the gems in the Falls of Fortune to get a rainbow to appear in the room right after you clear the level. The rainbow will also appear on the World Map. Now you can finish the game to get the best ending, which just adds a rainbow to one of the scenes in the ending.

I'd forgotten how trippy this game could get at times.

And that's how Mickey becomes King Mickey before Kingdom Hearts....

Pete is not that evil here. He may be lazy, but he was actually kinda selfless, giving his crown to Mickey if he does find the cure

He was never aware that if Mickey did find the cure, he would named the new king. The only reason he even gave the crown to Mickey is to force him to find the cure and afterwards get his crown back.

@@Mike14264 There were two versions of Castle of Illusion, and this one and Land of Illusion are sequels to the Master System one

now this is one of the many old micky mouse games i havent played....looks pretty decent

GRAPHICS WERE FANTASTIC FOR 8 BIT.

I have no idea how I managed to miss this one I had no Idea this existed - I've never seen it in the UK

Legend of Illusion was only released in Brazil in 1994 and a mod version was recently made with English text for the European market.

@@Rascarrr Yeah! This is a Game Gear to Master System conversion made by Tec Toy. And like all the others conversion, with the exception of Dynamite Headdy (sometimes makes me think that Dynamite Headdy was not convert by them)*, the game have a lot of glitches.

The snake with the bubble around his head at 8:03 reminds me of the one out of disney's robin hood.

💖 that good story for games

Having just completed it the game while a step down from previous entries isn't that bad but who's idea was it to have Mickey grab bombs being thrown??? The collision detection literally leaves no room for error! What the hell happened?!

When you think about it, what drives the plot at the start is a very preliminary version of the mist from Demon's Souls 😂

I remember when master system cartridges used to cost $60! Crazy.

This game sounds great in Dega (enhanced PSG setting).

I never knew how to beat the final boss Pete?! Who knew you could grab a bomb he was launching and throw it back at him?!? I kept trying to jump on his head at different points and dying GAH!!

Actually you can, since the Master System is region free. So you can play the Master System version of this game on a North American or European Master System if you please.

@@benitosierrajr3958 Unfortunately it costs about £400 to do so! I did buy the Game Gear version though (released in the US but also region free). I’ve just completed it. Great game but the final boss battle was frustrating!

Why is mickey so glitchy?

Castle, Land,Legend e World of illusion são uma perfeita quadrilogia.Mas meu preferido é o Castle.Pq é o que eu tenho em cartucho e já joguei, o resto só vi game plays e ouvi falar dos fas de vídeo game.

That last boss battle is crap, grabbing those bombs is far too finicky for what it's worth.

I played this game on Game Gear in the US. Never could beat the last boss though, couldn't figure out how to hurt him (freakin' useless soap)!

Mickey Mouse's ears always seem disturbingly misplaced to me.

Sounds like an emulator; SMS sounds much better in person. I like its audio far better than the Mega Genesis.

The game here as well looks blown up. The rom I played looks like it was just a direct port of the GG version without any regard to PAL optimisation for resolutions.
