Excellent instruction as always. I've been playing for over 55 years and I still learn something from every one of your videos
I really appreciate the pictures you put up of the cue ball with the type of English your using. A lot of us out here weather we want to admit it or not need that. Great video like always.

Great stuff. I couldn't believe the first one and went right over to my table and followed your instructions and bang! ball in pocket.
The bangers check out at the 5 minute mark lol. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
My nickname is 'SidePocket'... You are the Bomb my Brother!.. Thanks 'B'!
Hey Bryan - Ever since I first heard you talk about leveraging side pocket shots for position, I find myself trying to save them for when I need them whenever possible in games. Instead of dreading the side pocket shot, I look for them. This video takes all that to yet another level. Thanks, man!
Hi Brian I just started playing 11 months ago. I'm playing in a league. I'm a 3. Watching your videos and learning. I being more secure on the table. thanks a lot.

Really like the three rail running English shot on the eight ball and the variations of the shot thanks FX! The last one!
I’ve really enjoyed watching every video I’ve watched of yours Brian. Your detailed explanations, and then demonstrations are really good. Thank you.

Glad you like them!
Use the side pockets as much as the layout lets me. I do remember back (way back) when I'd try to avoid 'em at all cost outside of being straight in. Yep, used to be intimidated by 'em!!! Side pockets can be yer friends although at times they don't seem like it :). Absolutely love yer vids Bryan. They are plain and simple ... but for many, it will require practice and running these scenarios/layouts to understand it ... and most won't. Do I learn from your vids/talk -- well, absolutely YES, along with some familiarity but I haven't done any of in so long -- it's almost new!!! I do appreciate every bit of it!!! Be Safe
I stopped playing for 30 years and got back into it 6 years ago. Learning a lot from you. Thank you

Good lesson. Well said and well taught. Keep up the good work, Brian
Love your instruction style, learning on every video.
Thank you for showing the side pockets shot ,very helpful
Great video! I play these shots all the time. Speed, like you stated, will get you anywhere on the table.
Great video, I like the last one w/ speed control to get to different spots! I need to work on that force follow.
Thanks again Bryan for all you do!

I always thought the side pocket is your best friend
Awesome first shot, dude. I was impressed even BEFORE you got position. Good stuff, thanks, now if I could just get back on a table. The best thing I ever figured out about higher angle side pocket shots early on is don't try to skirt the close point. They go in further out even off the pocket cut on the rail more times than you would think. Makes for a bigger target, too, especially on somewhat lower angle shots. Obviously if you can induce a bit of proper spin, it helps.
You are the best Briane
I love the side pocket
Nice video. Will try a few of these. Had an idea on most but your spin location makes a lot of sense. One thing I JUST learned after playing pool for 50 years is that on your last shot, where the OB is almost straight and you bring it 3 rails, there is a good chance to scratch in the side or the corner. Players do it all the time. However, by putting a slight high inside spin (barely right), the cue ball will shorten it's angle as it reverses off the 3 rails and come up closer to the 9-ball. Even hitting the 9 would be OK. The shot doesn't have to reverse much at all. Players can also normally use the 2+2+2=7 system to avoid the scratch in the corner of course. But made more difficult to hit where you need to on the 1st rail due to the angle in this case.
Excellent explanation about speed to get position anywhere.

I personally LOVE side pocket shots.... I actually did the last shot in my league last week, but used it as a breakout shot. Great stuff, as always
Liked this one B. Bert Kinister told me the sides will get you out of line. They do. I always like showing off with these shots. They need to be practiced because speed control is important. Thx again.
I need to correct myself you were very clear explaining the side pocket shots. Thank you
You're a great instructor. Very calm and down to earth. Thank you
Thanks again. I always check out one of your videos prior to heading to the pool hall. Today there is a nine ball tournament for higher level players 675 and under. Unfortunately, I am not at that level yet. I usually go and watch to learn and socialize. I do have a few of them that I do play with, but many do not want to play with a lower level player which makes it harder to progress. I have recently started playing one pocket with a advanced player who is coaching me on the game. Because one pocket requires a lot of bank and kick shots and strategy my game is improving. I usually pick up something in your videos to take to the pool hall with me.
You are amazing!! Thanks for the information. I will put it in my game. Truthfully it's already there but seeing your video just brought it to the front of my mind. Pool tournament today. Im ready physically and mentally. Going to do my best. Thanks again for all your videos. I really appreciate your help. I feel that you have a heart of a teacher as well as a champion. Have a wonderful day my friend.
Other great lesson Brian !! Been wanting to ask you a long long time now… how is it .. having too. for a 9 foot table… 7 foot bar box most popular… why is it you choose to have an 8 foot table ???? I so much respect everything you’ve been teaching all of us through the years. Thank you Brian

I already have a 9 foot table you just haven’t seen it in the videos yet -because many of my videos are made a couple months in advance. It was a space issue for a long time but it’s not any longer.
Thanks Bryan.. a big help👍🇳🇿
More shots for me to practice! Thank you! By the way, the final shot was one I had a couple of weeks ago. Was hanging out at my favorite bar to play pool at, and the shot came up. Hit it exactly as you did and got shape on the 8. I honestly didn't think anything of it, but some casual bar players loved it and were amazed. Kinda felt good and gave me some confidence. 💪
Great demo!
Fantastic illustrations with clear reasoning and optional uses. Speed control is my biggest issue, and I believe practicing these shots in a variety of ending locations will help me! Thanks Brian, for another great video.
Thank you Brian
Thanks. Side shots for my beginner butt are the hardest to learn. Great class. I'll practice it and practice it some more. Sooner or later I'll start making them. Appreciate Ya!
Thanks for all the tips. From all your videos. Brought my game way up. That and hours a week of practice. We got bored and tried a game where all shots had to be a combination or all banks/kicks. One pocket and Golf are simple but make you think and thanks to you I got a fighting chance. Thanks again for the great content.
Thank you, sir for the great tips…. I’m an intermediate player and this video and your other cut shot/positioning Q ball videos have opened up my game so much it’s amazing. Can’t believe how much I’ve learned and improved on how to position the Q ball…. You were so right on when when you said this would open up so many possibilities in my game. Again can’t thank you enough!

Avid believer in the side pocket shots to increase your odds of getting shape when needed. In order to elevate your game, as you stated, a MUST have in your repertoire!! Thanks as always Bryan for great game enhancing video!!
Great videos and some of the best advice out there.
Several years ago, Earl Strickland and Darren Appleton played a gambling match on a 9 foot table with NO side pockets. The rails were custom-made for this match. Out of over 100 racks played, there was only 1 break and run out. This is the best example I can think of that shows how important side pockets are to running out 99% of tables.
Love all the videos Brian. Thank you so much for passing on your knowledge of the game
I love the first shot. I would have hit the object ball thin with inside spin but I see with your video, that by doing that I could not transfer enough English to pull the object ball back. Thanks Bryan, heading down to try it
this guy is good
awesome one thanks! great presentation 👋🎱👄🎱🤚
Great tips
Side pocket shots give me fits, but I am slowly getting better at them.
Very helpful
You need a overhead camera so we can really see the angle of each shot. You explain things very clear. You and lil Chris are the easiest teachers to understand. Dr. Dave is the worst!
need this one

Hi Bryan, I also see using more inside and reversing two rails. The 9 is a natural blocker also to the up table scratch. This said, I really like the way you teach and will try the 3 rail 😉
Another great video, sir. In the first example where you talk about transferring English, you used the words, hit it full faced, did you mean that you aimed as though you were hitting it 90° to the rail and let the English take it backwards? Thank you🙏

Exactly and thanks for watching
Could you discuss cut shots into side pockets ( aiming at which part of the pocket), and how to avoid the bobble on firmer side pocket shots. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
@kenhall3851
Жыл бұрын
Just FYI, it depends on how tight the sides pockets are but I don't aim at center on the side pocket shots. I aim to pocket it past center pocket, At about 8/10ths of a pocket (or 4/5ths). It allows for a miss hit a little either way on the object ball. If hit too long the ball still hits near the tit and falls. If hit too short it simply pockets mid pocket. This is especially useful the steeper the cut to the side pocket.
I love side pockets. More room for position error. If you play rotation games. Side pockets are your friend, especially on the last few balls.
Brain try took the ball y the horn but right left can make them both last one is really hard for me
I struggle getting my balls to travel as far as you do. Even hitting the last shot hard with top English, I can’t make it all the way down to the other end?
Hey bro I love your videos and channel and I was wondering if maybe one day you could add some go pro footage to the videos it would make a big difference for sure
@FXBilliards
2 жыл бұрын
We show close-ups but not GoPro angles because go pro angles are inaccurate - the GoPro is on the shooter’s head in the middle of his forehead. We did some about five years ago but stopped for this reason. -what you’re seeing on the screen is a weak representation of what’s really happening. unless you and the shooter are cyclops. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comments.
Can you review the new predator Air Rush jump cue. 600 bucks! Worth it? Love to hear your opinion and would just like to see the thing in action.
On backwards banks, that draw maximizes the amount of running English. So the draw is basically an amplifier, plus it allows the cue ball movement that's desired.
@mikeharvey7678

How does the draw amplify the running english
@agm8531
2 жыл бұрын
@@mikeharvey7678 if you use sidespin plus draw it creates a faster speed than with just sidespin. So it's an amplifier.
There are six pockets on the table. Use 'em all.
Hey Brian I have that same table I think and my pockets are like 5 in wide did you have to have the your pocket shims on that table to bring them down

I watch all your videos, and others, but I would enjoy them more if you could wear a head-cam. The camera angle is not clear.
@FXBilliards
9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your input, but the head cam is simply an optical lie, because you still don’t see the shot from the vantage point of the shooter, you’re seeing it from the vantage point of his forehead. That’s one of a dozen reasons we don’t use them. Also where I strike, the ball is not going to be the same as where you strike the ball because we have different cues different strokes, different types of tips, different skill sets, etc.. once again I appreciate you watching and I appreciate your recommendation

@@FXBilliards Thanks, Bryan. Good news on daily practice I instituted 3+ months ago. Last night I won my first APA 9-Ball shut out. As a Level 2 I played a Level 3. I needed 19 points to win. Final score was 20-0. Pocketed the 9-Ball two breaks in a row, plus couldn't seem to miss a shot. First time I was in "dead stroke." It was as thought my cue stick was in someone else's hands. About 3 weeks ago I moved up to a L3 in 8-Ball. Great hope for the future! Your videos are making a difference! WildFire!
