❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ My Favourite section of this short documentary where they show his paintings and family. Without Ralph Bakshi’s bravery Adult swim wouldn’t exist. Every industry professional and artist in general can learn from this man. (Take notes)

My favorite director. I could tell stories about how I saw each one of his movies, and you wouldn't believe them, but that was the 70s. I consider WIZARDS to be a masterpiece, and the rest of Bakshi's films are considerably better than most of the stuff being made in those days. "They shot Fritz!"

OMG! Simply reading "They shot Fritz!" launched a fusillade of rapid-fire Bakshi film clips into my brain. Like a home-invasion raid from a coked-up SWAT team, just a relentless, unstoppable barrage of images and (loud & profane) dialogue. The land of Scorch, Blackwolf's dancing skulls, the Shire, orcs on the march, demons driving tanks, the ringwraiths, Treebeard, Natural Black Jesus, Miss America's tits, Elinore's tits, Holly Would's tits, poodle college girl tits, Frank's Mom dying, Boromir dying, Peace dying, Sean getting shot, Duke getting shot, Avatar shooting Blackwolf, "I'm glad you changed your name, you son-of-a-bitch!", Scatman Crothers singing "N*gger-man", "I went Doodle", "You ain't black enough, Honey", "Lousy stinking fairies, you killed Fritz!", "Aruman of the Many Colors!" And more, all in just a few seconds, one after another. It was a trip!

Worrying about what people think about you isn’t political correctness. It’s plain old regular social pressure. I’m very glad he says he grew up without racism…he’s proof that great art springs from diversity!

I first learned about this guy in the 1990's, when information on him was impossible to find. Some of his movies were so rare on VHS that I had to be a detective to track them down. From what I've read about this guy, I think the problem was that he had zero business sense. The distributors were constantly ripping him off, then failing to distribute his movies.

Dear Ralph, What an ingrate I was all of these years, complaining, crying, that my name wasn"t on the credits for vocals on Marvin Digs...why in the world didnt I appreciate the fact that you chose the Life Cycle to do the music for Marvin Digs....I too was from a poor Italian family and we lived in a project in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I loved my life, I had so many friends, none of them felt poor. Yes, Williamsburg Brooklyn, now the biggest art show! You moved on to be a great animator and I havent even seen all of your work. I say, shear genius. I am an abstract artist with a studio in Wilmington, N.C. Ralph, I will just keep trying to live in a world that is a far cry from the peace marches I was in.
