Hook up a dryer filter so you don't get water in the lines. I live in the desert though. I don't have much of that. You'll have to replace it every so often. But I was taught to always use one no matter the setup. From an automotive background. Tankless is fine if you're doing hobby work. Larger areas go with a tank. Less strain on your compressor

Thanks a lot for the good review on these. just got the TC 40. I noticed the first time I used it after a few cycles the motor housing became very hot. Not so hot that I can’t keep my hand on it , but almost and definitely more than just warm. Is this normal for this air compressor?

The small one gives you constant flow with constant noise. With the big one, I counted 10 seconds of constant silent flow, then 55 seconds of motor (quite higher) noise. I vote for the small one...

Tanked is superior. If you are airbrushing alot the one constantly on will get hot and produce more moisture in the line even with 2 traps i was getting spider webbing. With a tank the motor has a chance to air cool between fills.

The tanked one will also give you constant flow while it is refilling the tank, you can use the airbrush just like the tankless one. The silent flow gives you extra advantage of a stable pressure for better result which the tankless one can never provide. So for best result, you use the silent for 20 sec, wait for refilling, then use it again. It is troublesome but you get better result.

For a start he only got 10secs, not 20 secs or "silent flow" (shall we ignore how long the motor would have had to run to fill the tank up to start with- nice cherry picking) and then it took a full minute (with a few more quick depresses of the airbrush) to refill. 10 secs of spraying on a tankless gives you 10sec of motor run time. Complete rubbish also about tankless not providing stable pressure. I have both types and my tankless is every bit as stable.

My TC 320 just died the other day it lasted a bit short of 3 years of constant use ,i just ordered a NoName tooty compressor with a tank it cost about $99 bucks from spraygunner with their sale so im hoping it will last at least 3 years too ! the 320 was a good lil workhorse !

Hello I was wondering for the air tank , should i leave the tank's cap off all the time , or only (off) for a couple of minutes after use ?

I just got the TC 320 as a gift. I cant lower the pressure below 35. I turned the knob as far as it goes and it reads around 50 and when I pull the trigger it drops to 35. I checked and the recommended pressure for the airbrushes that came with it is 20 - 30.

Can you do a simple video on the TC-320 on how to turn it on Hook one of the pieces up and show where the paint goes and how to paint something how far to stay away or whatever you do I’ve owned this for sometime now six months to a year and I have no clue on how to do work anything on it I just need to be able to plug it up which piece does Wyatt where you put the paint at and how far you keep your distance it’s just for home art projects with me and my boy

I have the 320 and it loses pressure, cant sit at 30 psi drops to 23 psi, what is the max steady working pressure these 2 units give or should give?

Looks like your only getting 10 seconds of air on the tanked system before it cycles on, then its refilling the air for about a 1 minute, so the smaller version without the tank is actually quieter as it only cycles on when your using it. If this is the only benefit of the tanked system, it doesn't seem worth the extra money just to have 10 seconds of spray without the compressor noise. Or am I missing something about the advantage of a tank apart from less water leakage?

This helps a lot! So if you want your working pressure to be 20PSI, you kind of need to set it at 25-30ish so it comes down to 20 when you release air from the airbrush?

Yes, that seems to be how it works. As you experiment with paints, you will figure out what works best for each brand/type.

@X X You just get it close and spray a blast at some cardboard or whatever. Based on the pattern, any potential splattering, and what you are going for, you then raise or lower the pressure and test a blast again till it's smooth and uniform and the right size. There isn't a SET psi for this and a SET psi for that.

twisting the knob wont do anything antill you spray your gun.. Think of it more as a flow meter!

I own that one and yes, having the tank means the compressor runs less and lasts longer. I've had mine for a bit over a year, I had the prior version for several years. They are little work horses. My first compressor was the prior version of the tankless which lasted a couple of years, but it over heated as I left it on and had a small air leak so it was turning on every few minutes and i didn't know it was running for a few days straight. I would highly recommend the tank setup.

@@masonjp9488 not sure about 25. I ran it at 20 all the time and had no drop in pressure but it ran constantly. You'd probably be better off with the tank the compressor will run less and last a bit longer at the very least.

They say it needs 20 PSI but I want it to be able to be 25-30 to be safe and I don't know to much at all about this stuff but would you say the tanked would handle my needs with ease?

@@masonjp9488 the tank will definitely handle what you need. There is a specific primer I used to use and I sprayed it at 30 psi all the time with absolutely no issues or loss of pressure on the tank version. Last I checked the tank version usually doesn't run more than an extra $50.

Question wouldn’t it be the very best option to buy a compressed oxygen tank ( tall ones that people use to breathe with /finding one for sale would be easier too) .... pros>would eliminate power source and> noise it’s even got a caddy it comes with. >Has a regulator Cons< missing brush and

No, unless you're only doing a small amount of work. I've never used an airbrush (yet) but o2 tanks I'm used to from being in healthcare. They're not designed for the output needed for airbrushing, at the speed needed for airbrushing they'd be gone in a blink:)

It would be very expensive in the long Run to continuity refill your O2 tank.

Question for you sir i have the 320 just got it i was airbrushing today with proline paint and it says it needs 30 psi working pressure no matter what i set it to it wont go past 22-25 ? Unfortunately i got some water splatter lucky didn’t destroy my work ! Is the bigger unit capable of working at constant 30 psi ? And the water problem that much better with it ? I've seen tank add-on kits that go for around $60 USD on ebay. It looks like they include all the necessary hardware. Good deal if you already own a little tankless compressor.

Can you help me figure out the wattage requirements? I can't seem to find them. I want to get an adequate generator for use in a booth.

I would not describe either of these as loud.

I got a similar Master Airbrush compressor with a tank that I bought around maybe 5-6 years ago, and it runs seriously hot. I called customer service about it and they told me that was normal, but if you didn't mention the heat I'm starting to doubt that. I'm wondering if anyone else has the same issue or if my unit is faulty in some way.

​@@gohobby9934 Thanks for the reply. Yeah, mine's probably always been wack then. I'm assuming you've never had the heat protection switch kill the power on your unit then? If I remember correctly mine overheats and shuts itself off after 3-4 fills of the tank. I don't like to use it much for that reason. It's not being used in a hot environment either. Way too late to bring it up to Master Airbrush for a replacement, so I'm stuck with it until I buy another.

So which compressor is preferable With the tank Or Without the tank???

The tank is definitely better. It can trap condensation inside and you can use the airbrush for a short time before the engine starts compressing air again so you don't have an obnoxious noise always playing while your concentrating on your model. Also if you have a motor constantly running while painting, it can get hot and collect more moisture. If you have a tank, it allows the air to cool down inside the tank preventing as much moisture.

Just got my TC-320... Pressure adjust maxes at 55 no matter where you turn the knob, holds around 28... got my current model project halted because I can't get a consistent opaque stable spray and I am frustrated. 1:1 mixture is somewhat difficult because its hard to measure out... Using Gun metal Gray FolkArt Metallic. No matter what though getting good coverage basically seems impossible. Just looks see through on a cardboard box anyway.... Used up half my bottle of thinner in one day of having it and have achieved absolutely nothing.

For metallics, I recommend an airbrush specific paint from somewhere like Vallejo. Regular acrylic bottles need a too much thinning to have mettalics look like you'd want them to.

The tanked setup is NOT going to run longer when filling the tank - quite the opposite the non-tank system runs continuously (hence no tank) whenever painting is in process.

@@gohobby9934 Actually my bad - I commented before seeing the whole thing - it's clarified and DEMONSTRATED a bit later. The only reason I'm sensative to it is that I watched the video & I'm in the market for that very question specifically - the tankless compressor I have kicks on at ever pull of the trigger and gets hot I MEAN HOT to even touch - hate it!!! Video is great BTW!!

So wha you’re saying is..... if you don’t want to hear a compressor running the way to resolve this is to get a massive air reserve tank?

Well, yes, pretty much, but obviously the compressor still needs to run when the tank is getting filled so it’s the difference between the tanked setup being noisy sometimes vs the tankless system being noisy every time you use any amount of compressed air.

I got mine second hand from a friend, never opened. It literally won't stay on. It runs for 3 seconds sometimes, then it shuts up and has an air leak. I have no idea how to fix it

The compressor with the tank is just so bad. The compressor is running more time to refill than you can paint in silence. I observed around 10/11S spraying and 35s to refill the tank. 08:00 spraying several time and kick on at 8.25 min to 9.00 min with no pressure on the airbrush and still not refill. And 09:40 test to see how long it need to kick in 10s so that give us the time that was done in several time from 8.00. And then from 10:04 to the end running to refill so 44s. Thanks for the demo.

The compressor with the tank is a better option for both noise and constant pressure. The motor of the tankless compressor will run ~100% of the time you spend holding down the trigger on the airbrush and the pressure fluctuates so your set pressure will always be higher than your working pressure. The motor on the tanked compressor only kicks and stops when it catches back up which shouldn’t take more than five seconds or so unless you’re holding the trigger down the whole time as well as demonstrated in the video. In addition, when pressure drops in the tank causing the motor to turn on, the compressor is still able to maintain the set working pressure rather than having to set higher and hope the working pressure is acceptable with the tankless compressor.

@@danjohns802 Yes I understand the concept of tank and I want one for the reason you mentioned. But is this video the compressor is running x4 time the spraying time juste to refill. So I'm wondering about it's quality. Basic quality need a few second to refill the tank . Here 40s+ and still not full for just a small spraying time. To be comfortable I'm looking for something that will run less than the praying time. Found my solution will be double piston silent workshop compressor of 6L. they are really cost effective and run 1/4 time of spraying time for airbrush on average IIRC my observation and estimation.

In regard to your assessment of the two compressors in the video, it seems you’ve missed the fact that the trigger is depressed only for a brief time and then released in the demonstration of the tankless compressor (the motor running for 100% of the working time) but, in the demonstration of the tanked compressor, the trigger is depressed for the entire time and the motor only kicks in after a few seconds (less than 100% of the working time). The two demonstrations weren’t meant to show a side-by-side comparison of what one would typically experience when using the machines but rather what it takes to get the compressor motor to kick on. The confusion is understandable but the tanked compressor is definitely a superior product.

@@danjohns802 no there is no confusion. I never say the thankless was better. I just said the tank here is really bad. I observed how long the airbrush was on and it' s not the entire time and compared to how long the compressor run then. You can watch the video from 08:00 and you will see how long it run before next depressurization. So just by observing that you can see the ratio spraying usage / running noise is really not good here. You can easily see it's 10s before it kick on and 35s to 45s to refill when not spraying . Not much to say actually just simple observation on the video's time indicator. And the one I found would be opposite ratio, more silence than noise time. And to add a precision we didn't see the time that the tank needed to get full at first. My guess is there is a reason for that. And it's not because the compressor reached the pressure faster than the 45s to refill from 60psi...So we can estimate more at least 1 minute (but should be more) to fill the tank then only 10s before it kick on. So that is really more noise than silence.

I just got the TC-320 and the pressure won’t go over 10 no matter how I adjust it. Needless to say, no paint is coming out. It’s a siphon airbrush. Not sure if that makes a difference. This my first time airbrushing and it is super discouraging. What am I doing wrong?!?! My god I just want to paint. UGH!

Make sure the drain plug on the tank bottom is tight and all the valves and fittings are tight. You might have a leak that is preventing the pressure to rise above 10.

@@1mahoganyblue Are you just turning the knob on the gauge to adjust pressure? The knob has to be pulled up until it is engaged then rotated to adjust the pressure. Pressing the knob back down disengages it to avoid accidental pressure changes.

not one vid on this and unbranded compressor shows / says how silent they run ? you could airbrush at 3am and not wake anybody in the house ......... they make less noise than a cordless drill in your hand
