Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

I was at that London Arena show. He came out with the Big Steps as homeless bums and left all of us as lifelong fans of his shows. For the record: Ace NEVER fell off. NEVER made a wack project and NEVER spit a wack verse. That equals TRUE LEGEND!

Pure facts. After his show he walked through the crowd with Tradgedy talking to different cats. The Afros did their thing as did EPMD as did others. Your right about the no wack project part. I like that pta with King T a lot . Also as I reminisce. The Fat Joe diss..Moving on...Ace is not getting the flowers he deserves
Ace has always been one of my favorite MCs
We need a Schoolly D interview🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

When I saw the concrete chess table they're sitting at and the iron bars, I KNEW this was filmed in Hollywood. It's that little park on Selma. "The I.N.C. Ride" video was filmed on Hollywood Boulevard just a few minutes walk away from this park. I wonder if Masta Ace reflected about that music video? It is iconic.

"Moving on" was my fav on his first album. When I heard "Saturday Nite Live" I was floored on his second one. I really enjoyed that project. "Slaughterhouse" skit was funny and good at the same time. There's a concert he did in Germany with live band I saw that was great. Great interview

Take A Look Around is a criminally underrated LP, it would regarded as seminal were it not for the tidal wave of good stuff coming out at that time, and I was at that Docklands Arena gig in London, Ace was so blown away by the reaction to Letter To The Better he ran out of breath and couldn't even finish it lol but it didn't matter, he got his flowers that day
He also landed that spot on Young Disciplines album. 🔥
Heavy Gratitude
