Tim is spot on. The 'diversity' myth is dangerous. I knew I wanted to be an RAF fighter pilot when I was 10 or 11. I joined the Scouts, the CCF then the University Air Squadron because I was determined. I then served. Anyone recruited on a whim at Nando's is not committed.

I think you will find the election system is rigged so only labour could have gotten into power. That's everyone's fault for not forcing a referendum on the 'first past the Post' policy. I served 23 years and your guest is 100% correct. When I got out some 10 yrs ago the recruitment drive was aimed at overseas territories. Some we really good, others were simply not suited and only wanted a passport. The woke brigade has their nails into the military and is taking us down a pc weak road. It’s the reason I left!

To have a career in the armed services, it has to be in your blood with the understanding it'll be tough, really tough and the acceptance of responsibility when you get promoted.

Two of my son in laws are Royal Marines. They are in receipt of what can only be described as “woke training”. This involves being forced to set to one side the very cultural aspects which bind the people in their units together such common terminology (language), attitudes (selfless motivation) etc. For example, they have been instructed not to use common parlance (such as referring to a hot drink as a “wet”) because it might offend others who are not familiar with the terminology. Have you ever heard anything like it !? It is reminiscent of a few years ago when Tony Blair wanted to suck up to George Bush and make all messes dry “to bring us in line with our allies”. He had assumed our only ally were the US (!) - failing to grasp that at the time, France, Belgium, Germany , Netherlands, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand etc were also our allies and the idea that they would render their messes “dry” would have caused little short of a mutiny (to say the least) ! Blair’s proposed “initiative” was dropped within the week, once the senior leadership of our armed forces had “advised” him of his folly….. Why isn’t a similar action on their part with regard to “woke training” happening now ?

It's technically a good strategy. Imagine how terrified our enemies will be when we've weaponised our mentally ill and placed them on the front lines.

My son has just left the army after 13 year's service, he was going to do the full 24 and had set out his life that way. But in his last few year's all this so called diversity and inclusion just destroyed his mind and it became a complete joke. Having meetings about hurting people's feelings and giving safe spaces, recruits answering back like children, I don't want to get up I don't want to do that, what are you supposed to do with people like that. They where told to not say word's like come on lad's because someone might be offended. When this country goes to war they will beg for these soldiers back.

I hope they have lots of safe spaces on the front line to protect their feelings

I like my father, his father and his father before him served our country. When our political leaders get there positions for election by our two key parties from having served in the general office of an elected parliamentary government official for a number of years we get what we vote for. They have very limited life skill and have spent their office life time dealing with the 5-10% fringe dwellers that don’t represent the actual population at large. Unfortunately they do not recognise this point and then proceed to impose these views/ attitude of the minority on the majority and wonder why it all goes pear shaped. We know from generations following generations people are indirectly guided into particular areas of occupations based on people surrounding them and what they and their father have find. This us very true for the military, police and emergency services

It strikes me recruiting target for "diversity" or sex/gender is positive discrimination and will NEVER get the best. Those who are the best irrespective of sex or ethnicity should be the ones who are recruited. PS - I hear on the the media that last year the MoD were recruiting 5,000 more staff taking it to 65.000. I understand this would make the MoD bigger that the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force combined!! How can this possibly be justified?

When did "meritocracy" become a bad thing? Critical roles need the best of the best. Other less vital roles can be shared out on the dreaded DEI [Diversity, Equity & Inclusion] spectrum. Front line combatants on air, water [or beneath] or land need to be motivated, committed and above all competent. Box ticking is such a sick joke when the competent are rejected over the incompetent who hit the DEI targets. I still worry about the likelihood of [dodgy] people with ill-intent having access to weaponry and training!
