To me if i am able to watch it due to dont have max or at least my tv dont maybe out in livign room perhaps but though the original characters for them are from my youth it however goes to my biggest problem. Not for the new tv series as a whole, the older ones though the characters and actors did a great job and the magical it was and music sound the feel .. sadly only the first 3 movies seemed more like the books, more like Hogwarts, the others added and was seemed rushed added so much nonsense destroyed alot of character growth to where book readers and movie watches seperated in who is cool or not if one dont read they only watch gets a mistaken what is missing and so much detail and imporrtances were left out they rushed this back then as books came out. Though it is part of my childhood i love the first 3 mostly 5 did ok same as 6 but the complete abandoned of each character and so much they left out killed it i only like watching the first 3 ... to i love to read all 7 this new TV series will if able to watch somehow will bring all that i wanted to see and the truth in it on the screen i hope. Even if not fully it will at least be better than the trash most of the movies gave. Destroying and making relevant characters seem unimportant many people who watch had more ?S than answers i see reactions they had to be helped by people like me to understand things. That to new watchers is same. The new tv series tho i love the older 1-3 and actors a great deal they always be the ebst. But same time they added and left out so much. KIlling it for me as a whole, pointless scenes cut good scenes and muggle clothes alot and Hermione seem unflawed. Is just annoying.

I mean to be fair your comparing seasons that had source material to seasons that didn’t. D&D were very good adapters. They were not good creators. And for the record I am in not way defending D&D OR the later half of the series. I’m just pointing out that the situations don’t line up well.

Hopefully the Battle Of Hogwarts will be more accurate to the book by the end of the final season

I want them to do more while strictly being true to book canon. In the books there was a limit that we only see Harry's pov but the show could do so much more and show us what was really going with other characters during the war. We already know what happened in the books what's fun in that, it should be able to do more and JK is also involved so they'll ask her advice any time. Just don't change the canon story and it's fine

i dont think they can fix the movies. half the people never read the books so all they know is what the movies are. so they dont know the movies are wrong. i think they try to keep the money coming. the reason why most getting away from the HP saga is for one it ran it time and the second they are worry about making Dumbledore gay. they are worry about keeping the ABC group happy. most of us dont care if he gay or not, we want the back story. before you go crazy my daughter thought the last movie suck and she a big fan of the ABC group. she came home and look at me and said "you right dad this last movie focus of him being gay. so i dont think this show going to work much because they have to change the who thing from cast to everything. they should do the children of the group. have the old cast for the pilot or the first show after that it be the children going through school. maybe JK could wright a book for each years like she did before and put it out the same week the season begins and keep it as close to the book as possible. if it turn out good she could do other schools or the elf life book and series. they could be like CSI season each have it of series. me personal they should collect the money and keep the back story going for get all the drama we dont care about it

"accent" and "actor" are 2 different things. There's no reason for an American accent to show up unless someone visits from the US (maybe at the world cup?) As for actors, I don't think the British only is necessary, and who knows how much power JK still has over these things. Case in point: Robin Williams would have been AMAZING in the films. He wanted to play Hagrid and Lupin. I think Lupin would have been fantastic.

@@RVGrannyWAya i know with in 5min of a show or movie they have to show two boys or girls kiss, hugging or holding hands. like we care but the ABC group will go crazy their not enough gay show in the movie or show. like most of us dont care. i dont care they dont show boy meets girl. lets get into the action, i hate right in middle a good part they have to show two people having sex. cut it out let get back to the movie

I do not want a modern take. That would destroy the story. I want them to be as accurate to the book as possible. I’m ok with them cutting out scenes in the common room where they’re not necessarily talking about anything super important, but I’m not ok with them pulling our world into Harry Potter. It’s meant to be escapism. Not everything translates well to screen so I’m ok with some cuts.

A lot of the books are an internal dialog that Harry is having with himself. I can understand where this might not be exciting to some of the audience, but it is still explanatory to the plot. A few voiceovers would help explain what his motivation is sometimes. This was especially evident in The Goblet of Fire movie.

Ralph Fiennes did a great thing as voldemort! and the wanted to give him red eyes in the first place but if you got red eyes it is harder to show emotions... so they left it out!

imo if the follow the books closely it s guranteed that it will be better than the movies, because in the movies there s so much left out. I guess it s gonna be a bit wierd seeing other actors playing the same roles but probably after the first season we ll get used to it 😋

So many questions or great moments left out for nonense ? Many new watchers i saw react to it kept asking questions due to the missing points of the movie left out from the book. I like so many have to be the one telling them their like wow that makes so much sense so they add garbage over do Hermione destroy Rons character the only 2 to 3 movies i like is the first 3 for it more like the book it feels like true Hogwarts after 3 it seems just Muggle Clothes and the nonstop perfect Hermione. And the death of Voldermort in the movie is the stupidiest stuff i ever seen in Harry Potter Clinkers? so he just dissolves into clinkers? wow .... yea that great and Bellatrix just blows up like Nagini into Clinter liquid ... yea that is great yea wonderful .. Muggle clothes 90% of all movies. Added nonsense to it cut out the most important stuff for stupid stuff. The only good ones is 1-3 and somewhat ok 5. Which is my fav book but in a movie its ok. Though i love the actors and the music the score etc back then 1-3 mostly that is always gonna be my most memory. But it needs to be done right. With a book series like Harry Potter bits and pieces of each isnt gonna fully cut the thirst especially for new people again new people watch it they love it but their like alot of this dont make sense and alot feels left out so we have to tel them as watch it the missing stuff their likewow i wish that was in there it makes MORE SENSE its like yes. Especially Hermione is flawed too she isnt that dang perfect.

@@Nio744 my big thing is do they keep the mystery aspect of the series when it’s such a well known outcome. Like yeah, Harry would still need to figure it out but we the audience have known for decades. So do we get a bit more of say Professor Querrell (can’t remember spelling) or even Barty Crouch Jr and some more of their side of the story. Or do we pretend it’s Snape every season and act like the hook is still a surprise? I wouldn’t mind either. But one definitely adds more tot he story then the other.

It's gonna be an almost impossible task to fill the shoes of the original actors, and I know there will be people who will be upset and not accept them. But I have faith they can do it. I'm willing to give them a chance to prove themselves.

I'm all in. I found the films to be full of expositional dialogue and in a rush to "get to the next thing". Furthermore, the time constraints of a film meant that too many things were changed or outright omitted. A series that can slow down the pacing is just what is needed to accurately portray the source material. The casting will be fine...imagine someone like Benedict Cumberbatch as Snape! 😳

The fact that people involved with the movies are also working on this makes me way more confident about it

As a 70 year old fan of Harry Potter, I just hope I live long enough to see the complete Harry Potter series completed. As a Postmaster, I experienced first hand the phenomenon that was each Harry Potter book release. Pallets of the books arrived days before each release and the phone started ringing off the hook at almost the same time with desperate fans and parents calling trying to convince me or someone to allow them to pick up the book in advance. The excuse were sometimes epic and a story in themselves. After release, I spent many enjoyable evening reading the book with my kids who are also, to this day, huge fans of everything Harry Potter.

Let's hope that WB sticks more to the books than push a "for a modern audience" agenda. Or it's going to be another low viewing show like: The Wheel of Time, The Witcher, The Rings of Power, and Resident Evil for example. History has shown when TV shows & movies are too busy concentrating on Political C & W to the O to the K to the E agenda. Most people stop watching. Most people watch TV shows & movies for entertainment and don't want to feel like a "message" being cramped down their throats.

One of the biggest things that will help with having a new cast be accepted is if they are held to a higher standard of being book-accurate; Harry having green eyes, Hermione having large teeth and bushy hair, The Marauders, Lily and Severus portrayed as young adults as James and Lily die at 21. The rest all die at some point in their mid-late 30s. Don’t get me wrong, Gary and Alan and the rest are great, but they do not look the right age. Another make the setting look nineties, especially in the Muggle World as when watching the film for anyone who is tuned into it, it's easy to spot things that didn't come out till the late 90s or early 2000s despite this series primarily taking place from 91-98. A good example would be Vernon’s car. Finally beyond just portraying many of the characters the movies left out I really hope they don't water down some of the egregious characters like Vernon, Petunia, DJU, and others in the name of being P.C.

Whether it's something we want to admit or not, I think we have to acknowledge the fact that JK Rowling is the best hope this TV show has in preserving what already exists within the original films, as well as expanding and delving deeper into the World we all know and love. With all differing of opinions and views aside, Rowling remains the sole reason that the Wizarding World even exists and that we now, once again, have the privilege of anticipating what's to come. Along with Warner Bros. and all those who over the years have worked to bring Harry Potter to life; Rowling deserves our respect and gratitude for all the unseen sacrifices that she, and countless others have had to make so that we might share in that which is the Wizarding World.

Hopefully the seasons involving the GOF and OOTP are faithfully incorporated because the triwazard cup and the umbridge arc were definitely inaccurate from the book

I think they should use nine or ten year olds to portray the golden trio and their other first year classmates. I know the show finishes when they're aged 17 which means they'll be 20, 21 but there's plenty of movies where people up to 25 years of age have successfully portrayed 17 year olds in movies

My hope for the show is that it is driven by expanding on content we don’t have… those closed door conversations between Dumbledore and Snape, the decision to bring the stone to the school, Sirius escape and life as a dog, Order of the Phoenix meetings…To so many people the books and movies are nearly perfect, they hold core memories and it will be so hard to not compare every moment to “the original”. I hope this new content is an expansion, not a copy, and I’d wait years for that!

On one hand I am exited about the TV show, but on the other hand I am nervous about it. We’ve had a few decades now for the portrayals by the original cast to become seared into our brains as the only possible representations of those characters. I don’t know if I can overcome that to accept new actors in the roles. I hope I can. I really want to enjoy the TV show and I’m sure HBO will do a good job.

I agree there's nothing more to say and this is just about money. Anytime the entertainment industry produces something good, they'll keep making sequels until they've completely ruined it. We've already seen what happened when they tried to adapt HP to the stage.

Thank you for the update! Your pros and cons were spot on; I’m excited but also wary about this new version. As a fan in my 70’s, I hope I live long enough to see the full series.

As much as I enjoy the movies (well....GoF and OotP not so much), I've long thought it was time for a multi year series with good production values.

My hope is that in addition to portraying every character and all of the major book events accurately, they will also introduce side plots in each series focusing on characters who didn't make much of an appearance in said book. For example, there should be some episodes in the Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire series focused on Ginny, Neville and Luna, and what they were getting up to during the events that Harry was experiencing. I've always imagined that they got up to some interesting things during those times so it would be interesting to finally know what they were. They could also possibly split the Chamber of Secrets series equally between Harry's and Ginny's POV, so that we get to see Ginny being possessed properly and actually see her doing everything that Riddle made her do. The only downside to that is that Ginny's reveal at the end is a massive shock value moment, so they may not do that in order to keep the surprise for new audiences. I personally would love to see the attacks being committed and Ginny's communications with Riddle on screen though. On the other hand, it could introduce a new and interesting way of looking at the COS story, if new audiences see that it's Ginny possessed by Riddle from the start, the excitement could come from wondering what Harry and the other characters reactions would be to finding out. I also think they should expand it past the 7 books, by doing series focused on the events between 1998-2017. We know loosely what they are, but it would be good to see it portrayed in detail on screen.

Maybe the tv show can cover things that the books didn’t cover like more of Harry’s time with the Dursley’s to show how different his childhood is to his life in the wizarding world or cover the 19 years aspect of the story

@@dannylagangonzalez6832 all wonderful ideas considering canon focuses on Harry’s story and not so much those around him unless it’s Ron and Hermione. There’s so much to look at in the 19 years later section like how did Draco end up with his wife or all the postwar aftermath

I'm rooting for Francesca Gardiner, giving the fact that she is one of the people behind Succession, which whoever watch that one would agree that it is one of the best TV series of all time, and also, she said herself that she feels very related to Hermione as a person, so I'm sure she is a books fan as well. She is definitely the one we can trust that can give justice to the Harry Potter books.

It would be really cool if the original cast got to come back to do cameos in this TV show. Danial Radcliffe as James Potter, Emma Watson as Lilly Potter, Rupert Grint as Bill or Charlie Weasley, Tom Felton as Luscious Malfoy(yeah its a bigger role but would still be cool)

Daniel, Emma and some of the others are so woke and ungrateful they wouldn't be involved if JK Rowling has anything to do with the production.

I want to see in Deathly Hallows the part where Hermione and Harry the statue and the gate to the Potter house. That was given such a vivid description in the book that it does need to translate to film. It’s one of my favorite parts of Deathly Hallows. I was disappointed in the movies leaving out so much! I am ready to put them aside!

Indeed Movies were pretty good and one of the best adapted novel series especially in comparison to new Rings of Power a LOTR show, Wheel of Time, Witcher and PercyJackson shows which are either bad or half decent That said , the movies should be put aside as a supplemental experience to the new show which could be the 99% adaptation fans want

As long as it sticks to the actual novels, plenty of backstory, and the elves bonding with the wizards (Kreacher especially) showing true unity against evil.

I'm optimistic but also cautious. HP means so much to me and my son. It's definitely going to weird seeing different actors in the familiar roles. The movies did a very decent job of adapting the books, but inevitability, cuts and changes were made having to fit each book into 2-3 hours. I'm hopeful that a tv series will be able to go into much more accurate detail..2026 seerms far away, but it's not so bad when you consider they need to wrjte, cast and film (and edit with cgi) the first season. All of these take time.

With a tv show they could easily make a word for word depiction of the first 3 books if they wanted to.

Let's hope that they get Ravenclaws animal and colors right.

Appreciate your pros & cons. Having made multiple visits to WW themed locals (Universal FL & CA, Warner Bros Studio London, NY store, Curswd Child), these places are busy, packed full of peeps.

Hopefully, if this series goes good, they can branch off and do spin off series involving the marauders

I wish they would animate it. No need to worry about actors aging, plus I hate the idea of kids getting destroyed by Hollywood. But realistically they are too greedy, and that would never ever happen.

One thing I really hope they do is stick to the true timeline of the book, which is in the 90s. The movies were based in the 2000s because that’s when they were filmed. It needs to be JUST like the book, or there is no point in making it.

​@@kumo4444Honestly it's not a big deal, main problem for me would be that I watched the films before reading books so I have always imagine Hermione as Emma Watson so it would be difficult to see other actress play her but if she does a good job I would get used to it. I don't care if they change race of any character if the actors are good but just for the sake of annoying comments about "woke", I hope they don't change that

Hermione is described as pale and projected as white in the books. Furthermore, her hair is depicted as medium brown. Black people generally almost always have naturally black hair. JKR has been quoted several times that the character of Hermione was based on herself as a child.

Theyd better freaking put the beasts in the MAZE!!! And ALSO the battle in the dept of mysteries! And do the scars on the characters better (Bill, Ron, Etc). Those were my 2 biggest disappointments in the movies.

There were alot of disappointments in the movies, but imo, by far the biggest tragedy was the Molly/Bellatrix fight at the end of the Battle for Hogwarts.

I hope they set it in the time period the books are set in - so it's 1981 when Dumbledore drops baby Harry off on the Dursleys doorstep and Harry's first year at Hogwarts is 1991. That would really ramp up the nostalgia!

When there is no rush to market. In some interviews, they are clearly mentioning that they were under immense time pressure.

If they ever decided to continue on with more books and movies with new characters how would you all feel about that? Maybe a time skip with all new characters and story

I would love to see some other story set in another time, but ffs just don't try to do the future of these characters. I have had enough with cursed child. Fantastic Beast was a perfect idea but they messed it up, maybe next time don't let JK write screen play or don't try to do 2 things at once. Either explore Grindlewald's war at other countries or explore magical creatures

I really do think they missed a great opportunity by apparently not considering animation for the series. I'm thinking something along the lines of Studio Ghibli movies. The visual style lends itself so well to depict beauty as well as grossness, both of which would be needed for Harry Potter. An animated series would have the benefit of complete control over character design especially (as well as everything else but that's a given anyway). Characters could be designed exactly according to their description, they can be made to age excactly as required (no weird growth spurts, etc.) and there could be fun changes in perception depending on who sees whom in different ways. There wouldn't be quite so many issues with special effects when animating (handy when there's lots of magic involved). And, most importantly, an animated series would completely distance itself from the movie series. No one could say it was "just a rip-off" or anything because it's an entirely different thing. Generally I'm in favour of there being as many adaptations of as many things as possible. I like a choice and when I don't like a particular take on something nobody forces me to watch it (but I still don't have to trash it and I can let others enjoy it in peace). Just think of all the different Jane Austen adaptations out there; I don't like all of them so I just don't watch the ones I don't like. If you love the ones I don't like - feel free! One thing I would really, really, really like the new series to get right is the costumes!!! Don't get me wrong: lots of costumes in the movies were really cool. But what I absolutely hated was the fact that they increasingly ignored the fact that witches and wizards wear robes. They wear robes when in the wizarding world and that's that. It doesn't have to make sense and it doesn't have to be practical - in fact, I think it would be very impractical but that's not the point - they wear robes! That goes for the Yule Ball as well! Give me propper dress robes for the girls! Not bland prom dresses (and badly researched "traditional" costumes for students of different nationalities). I'm not a costume designer but I would jump for joy if I was tasked with clothing a whole school of girls in witchy ball gowns (= dress robes!). I think there'd be lots of room for creativity...

It could be good, but there's one HUGE caveat.. They need to leave all social justice mentality, and woke politics, and in fact "all" politics that aren't already written into the books or movies franchise, out of its production completely! this goes Especially, for Virtue Signaling! they need to stick to the themes of the story, and leave world insanity out of it. We've seen enough of that crap infect far too many films and tv shows where its out of place, and never belonged. it happened to willow, which was infuriating. and many other films and tv shows. And if they try that again with a franchise this important to so many people around the nation and globe itself; the backlash could ruin the franchise forever! keep it on point, and it just might prove fun. but the potential for disaster is very real. especially if certain forces get their way.

If I hear an American accent or anything that takes me away from feeling like I’m in UK, I’m dropping this immediately

Im happy for a tv show. with how much they removed from goblet it surely should be better

My biggest concern is that they don't get the tone right. I gave up on the adaptation of His dark materials as they hadn't captured the richness, magic and whimsy of the book and it felt quite dull to me. The HP books were so well balanced between the light and the dark and I want them to capture that but I am concerned that they'll just heavily lean into the dark.

I’m excited for more of winky, peeves, all the house ghosts, including the death day party. More of the Weasley brothers we didn’t see enough of in the movies. Better quidditch matches, and more about Neville for christ sakes because he was just as important as any other character. He was almost Harry for crying out loud

it really depends on the length of the show by season epsiode count and how long the episodes are to how much they can do with the source material. it also depends on if they are doing one year per season or if they will stretch out a year to two seasons. this may or may not go well based on that as there is stuff they could put in that could do well as in more time in learning spells or more of what brought about each issue technical stuff better explained.

I think if they want to stick with 10-episode per season, the first three seasons would be in normal length, but from season 4 (Goblet of Fire) onwards, each episode would definitely longer than an hour, and for the climax episodes of each season (by which I mean seasons 4-7), there might be hour and a half or two hours long, like most episodes of Game of Thrones Season 8, and the entire of Stranger Things Season 4.

I’m pretty sure hbo said 7 seasons for 7 books stretching out over 10 years. So it will indeed be one season per book. Which will be perfectly fine as long as they don’t go woke. Then again, I wouldn’t be suprised if Harry becomes trans, and dates Malfoy and Hermione becomes a black lesbian.

I hope they recast the original actor who played Voldemort to play Voldemort again. Not only would he be even more age-appropriate for the show, I feel like there would be a sort of meta excitement behind his “return“. “He’s back” I also wouldn’t mind some of the original characters returning to play the parents of their child selves. Like Malfoy, lovegood, longbottom, etc. I also wouldn’t mind Adam Driver playing Snape. For some reason I just feel like he might do that character justice.

There are some inaccuracies (relative to the books) in the movies that I'd rather be kept in any series. Like Harry destroying the Elder Wand eliminates some plot holes associated with returning it to Dumbledore's tomb. Likewise, I love how the movies better depicted Amos Diggory's grief over losing his son and also portrayed him as a more likeable person (making him easier to empathize with when he lost Cedric) than the books did. I also like how HP7 part 2 depicted Snape's love for Lily by showing him crying over her corpse when the book took a different tact for depicting his love which I feel was less effective.

I would love to see Ralph Fiennes again as Voldemort, agewise it would fit. If not Cillian Murphy would be also a good choice.

I am looking forward to it. But i do hope they do not do anything BEYOND the books. I don't need new shoe horned in characters and plots or something. Let that be a thing for prequels and sequels (like Fantastic Beats for example) if they want to tell MORE about the world.

I really really agree with what you said about "disrupting cannon". Like many as you called them "purists" get annoyed when the book isn't followed to the letter, and that's BS, like if you want a copy-paste just read the books. It's good when the writers take their own liberties, however with that being said, as you said it can be risky as it has to be done carefully as it can also go too far.

If they're going to remain faithful to the books, then they cannot put non canon things in it. That would be so disrespectful.

More true to the source material - that's really all I need to know in order to be on board with this.

I hope the adult characters are closer to their book ages. Remember, Harry's parents were only 21 years old when they died. So Snape and the others of their generations are only around 30+ in the first books. I also hope they respect the rules of dress code in the muggle and magical world, and that they don't set it in present time, but let it be set in the years of books (Harry's born in 1980 which makes the first book set in 1991 and so on).

I completely agree with you. I'm really excited for the tv show! But i'm also concerned for the casting. I also think that this will be the biggest risk of the entire reboot. With this show, i really hope to see more in depth story telling scenes. Like the scene from Dumbledore's funeral or more scenes from Voldemort's memories. That would be really nice. And i guess that is exactly what they are going for. So in that regard, i'm absolutely hopeful excited! The original HP movies were also big part of my (teenage) childhood. (I was around 15yrs. when the first movie came out.) I'm 38yrs. old now. So add another 12yrs. (release is in 2026) to that. Man, i hope i can even survive to see it through! 😅 Anyway, i can't wait to see the first episode, and i will be here to see what you think of it as well! 🧙🏻‍♂

Thank you the Update also. I hope they will include visits to other magical schools. I always felt the magical community were being forced to live in the past. Why? The magical world are more powerful than the muggles world. In the past Muggles were taught the magical abilities were a gift of the devil and innocent non magical people were killed. What if there are millions muggles with magical gifts but they are afraid to show it. My friend answers my questions before I even ask them.

If they follow the books as written and not change things like they did in the movies it will make for a better experience for fans of the books. Too many things were skipped over and or changed.

I don't understand the buzz and excitement. There pretty much no chance this does well. Warner bros, Amazon and Disney have shown us they can't be trusted with beloved franchises. HP is finished. Let's move on

I enjoyed this video with your thoughts and the pros and cons. I am not looking forward to the television show being produced, I am happy with what I read in the books and what I watched in the theaters. Since it is going to happen anyway, I would like the characters in the show to be represented exactly as they were in the books. In other words, I don't want to see lines from the book characters, given to a different character on the show; just like they did for the movies. In the books we can read novels narrated through Harry's point of view, if they can successfully do that on the show that would be bonus, especially to new viewers. The battle scenes need to be as they were in the books too. I began reading the books after watching the first movie in order to bond with my nephew about Harry Potter, my nephew was 12 years old at the time so I will always cherish the books and movies I have read and watched already. We'll just have to wait to see how it all unfolds. I appreciate you for making this video and sharing it with us. Peace. ☮

I was disappointed we never saw more Belatrix. She was a Darth Vader like character and is the aunt of Draco Malfoy and the cousin of Sirius black. It would have been nice to see more conflict between these three characters. And I feel like a valuable opportunity was lost when Belatrix didn't get more screen time

If its mostly a page for page adaptation with some new stuff it'll be amazing but time will tell

Not with Succession, its third and fourth season are the best one. Which, one of their producer is a frontrunner to be Harry Potter's showrunner. Even Game of Thrones reach its peak at the thrid and fourth season.

The show is not necessary from a general perspective. Both the books and the movies are more than enough content. However, I think HBO Max intends to go much further with the Harry Potter world. The show would essentially serve as the launch pad for more shows and potentially even movies. HBO Max as a company is very smart. They could very well turn Harry Potter into a limitless source of entertainment. If the show is successful, it will be the first of many. And HBO Max will own the rights. It’s a business move with a longterm goal, I believe. It would turn Harry Potter into a Star Wars/MCU type of franchise that can continue to produce new content.

I hope they finally do the Marauders justice… In general, the movies completely ignored them and the people that didn’t read the books were very confused, specially on the third movie. Also hope they they attempt to fix some plot holes. And I’m curious about the whole SPEW and Winky and slave elves business.

I’m truly hoping it’ll be good and give us the original movies/books vibes and not the modern day remake as that would loose the charm of how we’ve felt this entire fandom all these years (and especially books) Maybe closer to books than what movies did and with more depth as the format would allow for deeper insights and possibly even more things that got kept out of movies. The game was amazing from what I caught on here but now I wish I could play it for real as this tv show promise is giving me rather big excitement

I think that new material is a great thing, I'll probably have to get HBO... But, for me, I would rather have a spin off with The Maurauders or Hogwarts, A History, than a true reboot. The books with Harry as the central focus said what they needed, at least with those plot lines. I would be stoked if we could return the original cast in now adult, even minor roles/cameos as themselves and build new stories with new characters.

With how they do reboots now a days Hermoine will prob be gay and Ron will be black

Hopefully something happens that will scrap this whole show as especially it’s being made by HBO MAX not HBO. Regardless there’s not enough source material to turn any of the books into a TV show meaning they will have to either write extensive filler or complete new narratives and plots to tie everything in. Sure it will be great to get the rest of the stories with goblet of fire, order of the Phoenix and half blood prince but it doesn’t warrant a whole new tv series reboot. If anything they should be investing a decade into writing and producing a serious, mature and gothic Tom Riddle series where each season is a year of him at hogwarts and how we get to see him descend into darkness once tapping into his magical abilities and becoming Lord Voldemort especially after he kills his fathers family and making horcruxes while also seeing how he becomes a master manipulator of his peers and teachers.

The show somehow being steered towards an audience that is more modern would be completely besides the point. The books came out in the 2000s and JK did not write about a world in the 2000s. Some of the movies already portray the books really well so we are just going to get a rehash of those events with new actors. Particularly the first 2 movies don't have that much to add but perhaps a few scenes. Which is nice but also pretty boring if you know the books and the movies really well. And if they are not going to do just that I also fear for the story as a whole. Rewriting the first 2 movies doesn't sound like a good idea to me at all unless the entirety of the story will just play out differently. And I don't know if I really need to see that either. :)

I am a HP super freak And I am very excited about this!! I didn’t get hooked until I was in my 50s.. JK is a genius. Each chapter has so much content; they could easily make 2 or three episodes for the tv series per chapter. I admit it may take a few to readjust my heart to new faces, but I am fully committed to watching and enjoying every single second🎉❤ I’m so very happy this is happening!
