MASSIVE Ultra-Compact Guide: GOOD vs TRASH !

In order to keep our recommendations up to date, we maintain a 'Buyer's Guide' (with a wide spectrum of models, and a lot of technical and lifestyle-related information). Organizing our recommendations this way makes it easier to include good models that we haven't made review-videos for yet, as well as to remove models which have developed unforeseen wear-issues over time, or which have been weakened by the manufacturer in their current iterations. In this video we compare 20 different ultra-compacts, weighing their advantages and disadvantages with regards to performance, durability, and how their variations in design will impact use with different lifestyles and environments.

Thank you! Another grate and entertaining video. I am curently using with my 3 week old babyzen yoyo 2 + carycot . Been loving it , how little space it takes, jet goes evrywhere I need . Thanks to your reviews i could make right choice. I did not go to biger and bulkier option as it was very important that stroller fits on European airplane overhead lockers. 👍👍

We have had our Leclerc for about 6 months now and we love it. We have taken it to Australia and back from the UK and it could go in the overhead locker on the plane. We had an issue with some stitching coming apart and Leclerc replaced the part quickly. We have not had any issues since. It’s a great second pram for us and we use it not only for travel but also for shopping trips and quick outings. Totally worth the money.

in terms of the pockit strollers, i have had a lot of sucess with the pockit plus all city. it has an actual canopy and is more rigid than the other models. it also has some suspension and nice wheels. i typically use it to traverse the nyc subways and have come to really like the model despite my doubts. it has also been very helpful for flying of course. with the leg rest and recline it seems pretty comfortable for my 16 month old (who is 99th percentile for his size making him more like a 2 year old) and he has even fallen asleep in it a few times to my suprise! not sure how it will hold up down the road but its been a pleasant suprise for the year we have had it

also important note: these are the only foldable strollers which you can carry onboard on some flights to Europe. For instance, ITA Airways doesn’ t allow any carryon baggage larger than 14in, so everything in this list except the pockit won’t fit 😅

Love your reviews - thank you! I don't see anything anywhere on your channel about double strollers -- in general these seem really under-reviewed, but I can't imagine they aren't widely needed! We have a 2-year-old and a baby on the way and are looking at the Zoe Twin+ (after exclusively using/loving the Yoyo with our first). It seems to be the lightest double on the market but as it's DTC there's nowhere for me to go to test it out.

Doona diehard here! I’ve found that it seems the loudest naysayers are the ones who’ve never owned one. I chose the Doona for our first child, so I’ve literally never owned another car seat or stroller and I find myself in awe that people actually use multi-piece products. We have been completely spoiled by this thing, the convenience cannot be overstated. My daughter turned one this month and although she was still below the height and weight max, we thought she’d be more comfortable in a larger seat. Let me tell you, I am truly mourning the loss! I’m struggling so find another stroller that is comfortable, durable, and doesn’t take up my entire trunk. We currently have a very-well-loved second-hand QB Pockit Cubit and it’s great for it’s compact size, but the seat doesn’t come up straight enough for my daughter and the storage isn’t even large enough for her standard backpack diaper bag. Thank you for your comprehensive review of these compacts, I found it really helpful. I’m on my way to the rest of your videos to hopefully find that holy grail product I’m looking for.

The doona is not a stroller it is a car seat with wheels and truly not recommended. This is because you’re only supposed to have your baby in a car seat for the maximum of two hrs. I have owned and used the Doona with my second child, I have been through many strollers (Bugaboo, Cybex, Babyzen yoyo, Uppababy GB Pockit, BOB’s) and can vouch that there are way better out there than the Doona. I currently own a Bugaboo Bee 6 and I am using it for my third and last child who is three months now.

I’ve never owned a Dona and never will. It might be convenient for parents but it performs very poorly in crash safety tests and doesn’t recline so is posturally not good for a baby. The paediatric advice is to have babies in a car seat for no more than 30 minutes, so it’s also unsafe to use as a stroller. But you do you.

We currently have a big stroller (Qaux Crooz) and it’s just not handy in my small car or apartment and I am also not that content about the quality to be honest. So we decided to switch to a compacter stroller, as we don’t do long walks that often and would use it mainly in the weekends/ store/ city center... So happy I found your channel, but after long research and testing out still doubting 2 models : leclerc Magic Fold/ Influencer or Easywalker Jackey. My husband seems to like the Easywalker better (bigger weeks and basket, nice look,..) but I am rather small and like the Leclerc better as it weighs less and is easier to use on sidewalks (also love the magic gold and magnetic harnas) Which one would you recommend?

This has been so helpful and informative. I am looking to purchase a compact stroller for my 11 month old daughter and I have been busy researching what to get. We currently have the Bugaboo Chameleon 3 which was gifted to us by family. Whilst it’s a brilliant pushchair it takes up a lot a space and I hate the basket underneath which is awful to access. This has helped me to tick a few off my list! I would love a review of the Didofy Aster 2 which is doing very well amongst UK reviews. There is also the Cosatto Woosh 3 but I have since seen that isn’t cabin approved. I have also just discovered the MiniUno Touch Fold.

I'm considering the Pockit All City Stroller, despite of the review in this video, as my case is a bit more particular: travelling with a 5y old for 3 weeks. In between multiple kid activities we will visit museums and temples (it's all about negotiations), and we do not wish to have a kid constantly complaining for being tired or running in a temple/museum when we (adults) get to enjoy our part of the trip. On our last trip, the kiddo was fantastic at 4y old, but we think that we pushed his little legs too hard. In this case, having a backpack-5kg unit places a huge advantage, as we expect it to be folded for the great majority of the time. If we get anything bigger than this, it can be heavy and uncomfortable to be carrying around. I'd be interested to know if anyone has had this experience using an ultra-compact stroller in this forum :)

I don’t know what experience you use to make your videos guys, but some things sounds funny. I have gb pockit + for 3,5 years. My child now 4 and weighs 36 pounds. We are very frequent travelers and this tiny stroller lasted that long even though we walked HUNDREDS, yes, that’s correct - WALKED HUNDREDS kilometres all over Europe through the very bumpy, wobbly ancient paving stones. I would suggest you guys take a child and go try walk at least 10 hours through Rome or Milan and then review. From my experience- it was a pleasure to use my stroller all this time. Folds/unfolds perfectly, easy to bring on board, soft ride and good price for the quality. I use it as a main stroller not only travel for the last 2 years. The only reason I am looking for a new one now - my child got too long for this compact. This one doesn’t feet 43 inch child comfortably. Btw - you need to put the brake on before folding to avoid it rides around you 👍🏻

Do you have twins or siblings who are both in their stroller years? If you buy the Leclerc Twin Connectors you can create your own ultracompact side-by-side double. You can push 2 children by yourself (and your partner can look after the other luggage). I think the connector should work with more strollers than just the Leclerc Influencer.

I loved my Doona... for the 2 months I got to use it before kinda figuring out the reason my son hated car rides so much was probably due to him being very uncomfortable in it for more than 30 minutes at a time. It was super convenient considering I have a Mini Countryman. The car seat stroller combo from Graco that we have as well and set up in our much larger car where we have the room to have a full size stroller in the trunk without taking up the entire trunk seems to be a lot more comfortable for my son. Alas I need to find a good stroller that I can clip a regular car seat into that doesn't take up my entire trunk in my mini.

@@cynthiameadows2714 hi! Ok, so here’s my review: Pros: It is very lightweight and compact, we still gate-checked it because we didn’t want to deal with more stuff in the plane. I loved that it included the gate-check bag AND the rain cover, both work great. Fully reclines (my baby napped happily) and it has little “wings” on the sides of the foot rest that turns it into a sort of cot (they don’t show that in this video). My husband, who’s a LOT taller than I am, likes the adjustable height handle. It rolls like a dream on smooth terrain, struggled a bit on rougher terrain, but I never made a fool of myself trying to push it 😆. A bit of gravel is ok, bigger rocks, that’s a nope. It rolled through sidewalks, airports, Targets, hotels and malls and it was always easy. The safety straps are easy to get on and off. The shoulder straps are removable for easy cleaning. Once you get a hold of it, it is easy to fold with just one hand. Going back to how compact it is… we keep it in the car at all times between the back of the passenger seat and the baby’s car seat. Cons: **Our regular stroller is a Cybex Gazelle -which is huge- so I can’t help comparing the two. The brake system feels cheap (“feels” because I compare it to the Gazelle) but it does a great job. The storage basket is REALLY hard to get to and holds very little ☹️. It does have an extra mesh on the back of the back rest but I keep forgetting about it. Once more, I can’t help comparing it to the Suburban (that’s what the hubby and I call the other stroller 😆). It has no cup holder for the parents I wish it looked cuter or a little fancier. I can’t open it while holding my baby, just haven’t been able to do so. I’m an industrial designer so I do wish it was a little bit more aesthetically pleasing, but it does a very good job. ***do not hang anything from the handle! It is so lightweight that it will tip over

Don't remember which video I commented on, but we recently started using our Emmaljunga pram. The chassis makes rattling sounds, and is extremely stiff, with both suspension options. The cot seems very loose and wobbly, and is uncomfortable to look at. We're going back to the shop, because I feel that it's too stiff, and too wobbly. I know it's a mechanic thing but that's taking it to the extreme. I am extremely dissapointed. Is there any pram you could recommend? I am thinking of getting a new one. 😫 And I would like a pram with a large cot, and a seat option, if you know any of those types. Please help, because I would like a pro to recommend me something, and not a retailer, that gets paid to sell me anything, good or bad quality.

Babyjogger City Elite for an active lifestyle, as it's suited for rougher terrain and should get you through snow and over trails with its large tires. Otherwise, if all you need is a stroller that can handle pavement, streets, grass, and a bit of rougher terrain, this channel frequently recommends the Babyjogger City Mini GT2. The City Elite and City Mini GT2 are awesome strollers, but you gotta buy the cot separately unless your local store offers a deal on a combo of stroller+cot. Moreover, the Bugaboo Fox is a great stroller, as is the Uppababy Vista V2. The Fox is better on rougher terrain, the Vista, on the other hand, has a larger shopping basket and can be used as a double stroller. The Vista's carrycot is teeny tiny, though. So unless you intend on switching to the bucket seat any time soon, I don't recommend it. Both are quite pricey so I'd either check out second hand options and search this channel for videos on how to maintain a used stroller, or go for a Babyjogger for half the price of Fox and Vista. If it's available in your country, you might want to check out the latest version of the Easywalker Harvey as well. The cot looks quite large, the chassis seems sturdy but compact to fold, and if I am not mistaken, Easywalker took some advice from Wade (this channel's creator) on how to improve the Harvey. A poorly made stroller is a huge annoyance. Hope you're getting a refund for your money. Good luck!

We've gotten a review unit for the Butterfly about a month ago, did 2 trips already with it, single-handedly it is the best travel stroller we've ever had, and this is the 4th one we've had after several mishaps with airlines. It handles like a full size stroller, the basket holds incredible amounts of contents, and has a spring that helps you in loading stuff into it. The back wheels have a bit of built-in suspension, which makes gravelly roads comfortable for even a sleeping child. The folding is super easy, and the size is almost the exact same size of the yoyo when folded. Also, it comes with a rain cover, adjustable footrest (which also doubles as a cover for the storage when you pack it a bit too full, or as a solid carrying hold), and a VERY big canopy. This thing is a beast.

Here are some of my thoughts on the Doona. I do not like many things about it. I have a 2 month old and I'm going to sell the seat. I have another seat to install for him. I'm super disappointed. It's convenient for parents but uncomfortable/squished for baby and potentially dangerous due to the non-adjustable incline. The base initially did not click properly for 2 weeks. The quality of the wheels and stroller is not that high quality considering the price tag. Wobbly and bumpy ride for baby, even on relatively flat sidewalks. Baby overheats in the seat. The straps get tangled easily. The stroller cannot actually be used as your primary stroller, just a quick jaunt point A to B. The straps leave marks on the neck of my baby. If you are taller than 5'9", the handle bar might feel too low for you. The whole thing is clunky/heavy as you take baby in and out of the car. The seat is not legal in Canada. I spent over $600 for the carseat/stroller, net and raincover.

I'm bummed this didn't include our Zoe. It was so well rated and it's fine as our extra in the car for shopping on tile floors, but I really didn't think it held up on our recent trip to Hawaii. It got really finicky and pulled one direction or the other depending on which wheel had a grain of sand or something in it. I have been thinking of getting a different one or a cheap-ish regular size to gate check. Would've loved to see the comparison!

The Doona is really the worst. Not only does it perform poorly in crash tests (2,7 in ADAC test, which is not at all a convincing result), the baby's position while in the car seat is unhealthy and too upright. It's not even a stroller, it's simply a car seat with a handle bar, which is even way too short for taller parents. I know, you don't like the Cybex compact strollers. But, if one is really into the whole carseat as a stroller thing, a combo of the Eezy S (Twist) +2 stroller chassis with adapters and the Cybex Cloud Z makes much more sense and seems like a much smarter choice, not only in terms of suspension and storage, but also in terms of the recline-ability of the car seat so that the babies are in a healthier sleeping position while on the go. The Doona is one of the reasons why people get the impression that it's safe to carry around their infants in car seats all day long while in fact it's super unhealthy for baby's breathing and their spine development.

I completely agree with your point on babies being in car seats for too long. But I don't feel sorry for the taller parents. I think it's okay for the really tall people to have other strollers than the really short people. And for people with dwarfism the Doona is probably the only one out there. I think the Joolz Aer can also take the Cloud Z car seat and there must be more ultracompacts who do, not only from Cybex.

  • @Marina-zb2iz

    @Marina-zb2iz

    2 жыл бұрын

@@Merope4ever Oh yes, I absolutely agree. There probably are many other ultra-compacts that fit a full reclining car seat! I like the chassis of the stroller mentioned in my first post due to its bigger wheels (talking about the +2) and bit of suspension. I chose the Eezy S Twist +2 (what a name...) here, because it was mentioned in this video as a 'don't buy' before the Doona was, and I would rank them differently. I hadn't considered that people with a very small stature have a hard time finding alternatives to the Doona. I'd like to thank you for bringing it up. Do you know how high the lowest setting of the Doona handlebar is? All I could find ist that it's 98 centimeters in height (max). The Joolz Hub can be adjusted anywhere from 95 to 105. So the Hub might be an alternative, at least for some? The Doona is quite heavy as well, so I would assume people with smaller statures also have a harder time lifting it?

Ultracompact strollers will probably not hold up for that. I would consider buying a 3-wheeler, because they are relatively more terrain capable for their size. Most of the 3-wheelers require you to give up on the reversible seat. But with Mountainbuggy you do still have the option. If you buy the carrycot for your model, you can also convert it into a parent facing seat.
