MASSIVE Record Size Tripletail Fish

In this episode of BlacktipH, I catch a record size fish in Louisiana, one of the largest tripletail fish ever caught in the history of fishing! I went fishing with my good friend Capt. Blake in Louisiana and our goal was to catch tripletail. Capt. Blake and I decided to have a friendly competition. Whoever catches the most and largest tripletail, wins. On my first cast, I caught a good-sized tripletail, over 10lbs! Shortly after, Blake caught three tripletail back to back, one being around 20lbs! He was leading 3-1 in the competition. I caught another fish around 10lbs to close the cap. Around an hour later, I hooked the largest tripletail either of us had ever seen! Blake quickly netted the fish as it swam towards the boat. This fish was so too big to fit inside our net. Once we got it in the boat, we started screaming, "it's 40lbs, it's 40lbs!" We couldn't believe how big this fish was. This fish might be a new record! We quickly headed back to the dock to weigh this fish. The final weight was 39lbs 5oz, only 3 ounces short of the state record from 1959. My tripletail is the largest caught in Louisiana in the past 60 years and the fourth largest ever caught in the world. If we would have taken better care of the fish, I am 100% convinced it would have weighed more than 40lbs and broke the state record.

I'm a Florida boy and seen a lot of triple tails, that is a absolute monster.

Your correct if you would have put it in saltwater you would have had the record. This is due to the cells in the saltwater fish shrinking and since it was freshwater you stored it in the fishes cell's became hypertonic and the saltwater from the cells tried to move from the high concentration of salt to the low concentration (the freshwater) and this caused the fishes cell's to shrink and lose weight. It's unfortunate because you could have had the state record!

Those things are ghosts. Down here in cali very few people know about them but if you go in REALLY deep water you can supposedly catch them. .

My dad and I hooked a 1400 pound 17 feet one and it went out of the water but it came off because it was so big you can catch in the Winchester bay

I truly believe you did have a state record I had a 12 pound largemouth lose a pound over three hours Even our boat digital scale reflected the 1 pound weight loss from catch to approximately 3 to 3 1/2 hours later great video man

I think you have it. Old records cannot be evaluated. Technology was too inaccurate. Well done. The biggest one since I was a year old and that was doubtful.
Nice fish!! In (February) 2011 when south Florida had that week and a half cold snap I was catching 20 lb+ triple tail in back of the Loxahatchee (Jupiter, FL) all week on the pink goofy jig. Big fish of the week was 27 lb weighed Fishing HQ's in Jupiter. Fun and hard fighting fish.
