Massive Mudslide in Switzerland || ViralHog
Occurred on August 7, 2018 / Chamoson, Valais, Switzerland
"There was an anomaly when a huge amount of mud came flooding down from the mountains because of hail. People heard the noise 3-4 minutes before, this is why they are waiting, but they were not aware of the amount coming."

The Swiss are intensely smart, but it's time for a rethink on these lined streams. They add velocity to the water/sediment by being straight, narrow and smooth. It would be hard to remediate it now, because houses have been built up all around them. But if a catch basin or pond were located ever few hundred yards, it would slow the water, make the sediment recoverable, and smooth out the sudden spikes in flow, which are terrible for wildlife.

Normally, you get a warning. Same with avelanches. Of course there is always a chance it gets undetected, but since it is well known, extra forests get planted in the riskier hills to prevent this from happening. Or pay three to five times more for anything than the same thing in Germany or France or Austria. There is no Amazon in Switzerland, no Ebay, and if you try to buy something online cheaper from another neighboring country, they refuse to send it. Everyone thinks the Swiss are rich except the Swiss, who only eat chicken and pork because they can't afford fish or beef or mutton. Most Swiss have never had a rib eye or a T-bone steak. Think about that!
And as this is Switzerland presumably road cleared the same day before rush hour. Look how well maintained the culvert is.
I don't speak Viking but I think he said," Oh shit! We parked on the wrong side."
There is a good reason why that ditch is there.

Everything about Switzerland is amazing; the people and their landslides for starters.

@@DavidFerree54 Did I day all young people are smart and that all old people are dumb. No i did not. I said the exact phrase, "not every older person is smart and not every young person Is dumb." This does not imply that the opposite must then be true. All it means is that people of every age have an equitable chance to be foolish or wise. I am foolish this I know. For I have lived a measly 45 years. And boy do I know how dumb I can be and how ignorant my friends are of the actual world.

@Kenny Jackson nah, it was reckless. they stood in the worst spot possible, downhill a shoot, and were it makes a corner (if it spills, thats the place). you notice when she starts jogging...thats when it hits her that she is in the wrong place and could get hit still. also, if it would have been just a little bit higher (=more mud) it would have also spilled to the other side towards them in the first wave...no running would have helped them.

It bothers me that the place you are born determines the beauty of the nature around you. And did not choose were you are born. Switzerland looks so beautiful even the mud is perfect.

0:25 "Don't move away, you miss all the action!" 0:46 "Well, sh..." 0:51 "DAMN."
What impresses me the most is that mud not having not one single piece of trash in it. If that was my good old Brazilian mud slide, bro, it would be 50% mud and 50% trash at least.
