You might want to coat that lid to prevent mold because that lid is going to get moist from the water vapour

And the exposed wood near the top, just a few coats of spar varnish would protect it.

After watching your channel for a few years and watching this video, I have just realized I actually enjoy watching paint dry.

I agree! I’ve been watching his videos for a long time as well and your comment brought me to the same realization 🤣
1. Let’s all thank Marling for his dedication. A man with kids and a wife could’ve just said “I don’t really have time to go test baits” but instead he brought the test site to him. All for us. Thank you! 2. Could you get amazing footage of the baits by turning off the lights in your garage and then putting some underwater LEDs in the tank to light the footage but eliminate glare? Food for thought.
@BlankScreen2762

agreed i would suggest the lights be pointed to a horizontal direction.
It's ofishal you can now fish inside!
Very nice build Nate! You are the only person I can think of who ever built wooden baits, a wooden reel, and now a wooden pond.
You should turn of light from above to avoid reflections or buy a polarized filter for your camera or do both. That we can have a better look to your tank. Ps: Great job! ;)

I was thinking the same, but I think it was the window Though I would say some LED strips right below the water would do some great lighting

Polarized filter would be perfect here
Stoked about the future use of the build maybe a pump for a stream simulator Just a thought you probably already thought of but like a question never asked, so I suggested 🤷♂️🤷♂️ As always thanks for the content
You might want to make a selection of test hooks that are well dulled and rounded to avoid scratches.
Good to see Chip, and that he’s out of the strawberries! Love it, super supported and treated for lifetime use.

Awesome! I’m looking forward to see how that tank evolves. I recommend more indirect lighting, and water quality may become a challenge in the future, but it definitely does what you wanted it to!
As someone who takes great pride in my carpentry skills I'm honestly jealous of your precision on your drilling and cutting near perfect every time. Not just in this video but a few others I've seen as well. I was especially amazed on that video where you drilled that one bait on one and and the other end and they lined up perfectly. You werent the only one that thought that was cool..
For a guy in his garage, with some tools and know-how, you did a really spectacular job honestly hats off, sir. I can't wait for the Underwater camera swim bait videos.
Nice work! You are going to get a lot of use from that tank. Have you ever made a lure that looks like your shepard? I know you made a chipmunk once, and a few other non fish lures, I think a tribute lure for your dog would be awesome.

Nicely done! Truly Professional Bait Master.
Hearing the sped up music in the background makes these videos 20x better
13:48 His head was found in a drivin wheel but his body never was found. MY GIRL, MY GIRL. Awesome song in the background and great build man!🤘
As soon as I saw him breaking out the epoxy, I was worried he wouldn't install a drain line/plug/hole. There will 100% be a time when you need to get the water out of there, and it will be a whole lot more work and mess without that feature. Love having the lid on there though. Considering how big it is in your space, I assumed your plan was always to have it act as a work surface when not in use. Love the videos though man, looking forward to seeing you make all those lures official.
@Sir_Defyable

I thought the same thing, though I’m sure it’s a work in progress and we will see many upgrades along the way. Easy enough to cut a section of hose to siphon out the water, or if you are crafty with a section of pvc pipe and a heat gun you can bend the pipe into an “easy to hook on” shape and even introduce a taper in the pipe to make the siphon more efficient. Eventually a proper drain will be a must, but it would take 10 minutes to install one assuming you can make a clean hole going through the epoxy and not get any big chips/flaking. Love seeing stuff like this!

Not really a sump pump and garden hose would drain it mostly in few minutes
I'm jealous of your new testing tank! You might consider a filtration system for the water long-term. That's gonna be a bummer if all that water goes bad. Thanks for all the great videos!

That water will go "bad" in 1 month. It will be all slimy. Its not fun test lures in that water. I have also water tank to test my lures, but i empty tank from water after i have done testing. And i also dont test just one lure, but multiple lures at once.
You probably don’t want to sink more dough into this BUT I really like underwater cams. Maybe I’m spoiled. Love your stuff boss
This is awesome! Can’t wait to see new tests!
That is good! I love the testing tank/swimming pool. Maybe you should put one of those black rubber on the end wall to avoid clashing the baits there. Pretty nice, though.
Good first go. On Version 2: Drain Plug, Lighting, Observation/film Port, Full seal of all wood inside and out, on dimensionally stabilized building materials, a water filtration system (stagnant water is eeeeewww) and finally a lock on that lid. NOW is the winter of our ONE DAYYYYY
A rubber floor mat for the back wall, maybe a little bit of aquarium rocks and plastic folliage for that little bit extra. Love it!
I love the test tank! An underwater camera angle might be interesting!

YES!! It's About Time!!!! Awesome Stuff!!!!
I watched you come such a long way in the last few years! Happy you finally don’t have to leave your house to test your baits, but I also hope it’s not the end of the 1 days that end in catching a fish..
THAT IS AWESOME! love your channel... Keep on Keeping On!
awesome! love the process, and being able to test indoors is very convenient
FINALLY!!!!! I have been asking for a test tank for sooooooooo long. Your subscribers will thank you for it!
Hey mate, put a gopro in the tank at each end and on the side, put the side view on superview and 120fps. And the end cameras on narrow and 60fps so we can see the actions from under the water! Also coat the top of your plywood as it will soak up water and start expanding. And like others have mentioned, seal your lid to prevent as much growth as you can. Love the fact you have this now mate! Cheers From New Zealand!
Nice test tank. You could go into the end closest to the wall and make an inch and a half drain port that will go right outside. That water is going to get nasty in there over time. It would also help the have a fast drain system if it develops a small leak. Then you can drain it, fix the leak and fill it back up..
Thanks for showing the bait marling, glad you liked it 💪
Lighting, underwater cameras, I look forward to some amazing footage.
Really serious aquarium enthusiasts will build large aquariums because it's more cost effective, they use plywood and pond shield. They use fiberglass mat in the corners for support. But the aquariums aren't completely surrounded by 2x4. And since you filled the seems, you shouldn't have any issues. Good job. I'd love an indoor pond and this is how I would make it. The blue looks great too.
Awesome job!! No end to your skills!!
Loved that you’re listening to Long Whip Big America in the back ground🤘🏼
Cool project, big thanks
Классный получился полигон для проверки ваших приманок , больше не нужно будет особенно зимой искать открытый водоём для испытаний.👍👍😎
Fast & Tight! ahhh yeah
This made my week Nate and its only Tuesday, great stuff.
Well done! Great choice going with the pond shield instead of the black pond liner. Cheers!
Oh my God! Congratulations! Been waiting for this. It's official.
F*** yeah! I have been waiting for the next video 🙌
Viewing on action of the lures have significantly improved! I have a former coworker who built his own aquarium out thick lexan/polycarbonate sheets. It was 8'x4'x4'. That way you can also see it from the side too. Also consider a backyard water garden pond with fish and plants. The whole family will enjoy it.
OH GOD FINALLY! I love it when I see you post!
That’s awesome!!! Now I want a big tank in my shop. Keep up the good work.
My son and I watch you every night before bed. Huge fans. May I suggest a lock for the lid for your little one running around….. they find a way into everything. Keep up the great work.
Love it! Some LEDs would look awesome too!
Having built large aquarium tanks for doctor offices before that was a thing in the 1970’s we built frames and used safety glass and thick as 3/4” and 6’ wide and 5’ tall installed into a closet with the glass only showing. Lined the inside with fiberglass resin! The tanks we built that were not removed by new tenants and still in use some are over 50 years old! You could put a glass front with maybe 1/2’ safety glass and have a window to watch your lures from the side!
What a journey! The tank looks amazing! Good idea on the lid! That'll hopefully keep the kiddos from playing in it too!

Yes, great job. Though I would also recommend some type of lock at least until the kids get a little older.
I’ve been waiting for this day to come 🎉🤠🎉
Was actually watching your paddlefish lure post again, amazing paint job as always.
Hey! Very nice projekt. My idea whilst seeing your project was, to if you would make the container one fourth of the current length and if you would install a circulating water flow like in a reverse flow swimming pool. Then you could have close ups from the swim bait, as it always stays on the same position (beside the side movement)
Nice job Nate!!! Glad you went with blue instead of black!!! Can’t wait for the podcast!!!
I have never been properly fishing in my entire life and here I am taking notes on “the rear end action” of a heavier swim bait. Great video
I’ve been waiting for this for sooooo longggg
That is crazy big!😳
It looks very nice can’t wait to see footage from the tank. Also I always love the Outros
looks so real!
Been waiting for so long for you to do this!!!
Excellent idea! You’re going to definitely get some great use out of this addition to the shop! It will definitely be interesting to drop a GoPro into the tank. Excited to see the future videos! Nice job!
That’s a hell of test tank man that’s awesome. Throw some LED light down the inside under the water to really showcase your baits.
Well done! I spent four months trying to build a sustem to create a laminar current within a fish tank, in order to test crankbaits and swimbaits. My fabrication skills were not up to the task. Now I just throw my baits in the swimming pool. I should have done that in the first place.
all of the lures are perfect...nice..
That's a great upgrade for your shop! Nicely done :D
This is so cool 👍👍👍 What a great idea. And some SICK baits too! Glass sides would make some great shots.
Great idea dude!
Very fun build! I think you may end up wanting to install some kind of drainage valve so you can drain it for cleaning and what not. You could also get a fish tank filter and run it continuously to keep everything fresh in there.
You made a perfect tank for testing your baits,, great job

Awesome cold water plunge tank if need be!. Cool vid
YASSSSS I MANITFESTED THIS FOR ALL OF US ! (X totally commented the need for a test tank like a month ago 🤘🔥
Nice clever work. No more annoying ice on the waters.
I think it would be sick to paint and feature your marling baits signature in the inside of the tank so your underwater footage videos will include your name to your viewers. Also would accentuate that custom made look. 🤩 Good job on this project, the color and size looks perfect!
6:06 had me laughing alot 😆 🤣. The whaooohah that didn't move.
