Massive Clearance Issues and New Rocksliders
Hey my lovelies
Thank you so much for watching the episode today. We have two weeks until we have to get this thing out of here up and running and with every little help from friends around. I really think this is going to be possible.
Remember, we have a live video tomorrow at 8 PM Eastern time so make sure to tune in because there will be giveaways and you get to catch up on everything with myself.
Thank you so much for watching. See you tomorrow.

It is nice that Lizzy can turn to someone she knows to learn the fine points of TIG welding. With everything she is learning in Matt's shop, she can take over without missing a beat., and the guys respect her enough for her to BE BOSS. AWESOME.

It was soooo hectic in the shop yesterday, but in a good way. So much going on!
Hollie, Nessie is looking really good! Nice job you guys. I'm a retired heavy equipment operator and have done a lot of shop work. This is from my experience. Please don't freehand grind. Use your vise or clamps. I've had a grinding wheel grab my hoodie front and it twisted badly and cut my stomach. Also the grinding wheel can slip and cut the hand that's holding the piece. Better control grinding too! I enjoy your videos and can't wait to watch Nessie run!

Thanks for the advice! I was a bit worried especially with how small those pieces were
It's so great to see all your friends jumping in to help .
Great stuff. That thing will be a beast and can't wait to watch you run..and Lizzy will soon be a master Wielder on top of a cowgirl ..Very nice Resume.

Amen, Patrick! I sent his shop a box of safety glasses from here in PA a couple of weeks ago cause I saw how much they grind with no glasses! Not saying he was wearing the ones I sent, but like you, I am glad he wore some! :-)
Nice to see you got the Plasma Cutter hooked up and running, it's just like welding.... It gets easier with practice. Nessie is looking good!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Awesome! Great that the MORR FAM came for a workout!! Woohoo! Nessie taking shape! #TeamNessie 💥👍🏻
One of the many favorite things I love about watching all these channels is that you all come together to help out! I also know that can be tough when you have SO many creative minds in one place! Sliders look awesome and keep up the fantastic work!
OH Man! I remember bumper cars at the fairs...... Fun times!!!
Wow, did I see Matt using a tape measure? 😀😀 Good to have other eyes looking over your hard work as it's so easy to focus on something and miss something else. Great team collaboration.
Good friends having a great time in the shop. The only thing better is being out on the trail with those same friends. Thanks for all the cool videos!
Custom "always" goes that way. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. The jeep is looking really good. I'm looking forward to seeing wheelin.
i love the team work. you are lucky to have each other. Nessie is coming along awesome and so is your shop garage. best wishes
two things cross my mind on your build, 1 rims do have different offset capabilities you may gain the shock Clearence by a different offset and 2 keep in mind when a tire is aired up it changes its dimensions a bit. if i may suggest I would mount up the spare and test fit it and NESSIE is looking grand! a right proper Nessie indeed
Hollie them bumpers you were thinking of are called Dodgems!! The floor isn’t magnetic it is metal and helps to make a circuit with a mesh grid above that have opposing polarities when switched on it give the cars power.👍👍🏴
So much talent being shared. Better than any University!
1:06 first time I saw Lizzy use her eyecromiter. 👁😭 another skill for her resume.5:20 then came puddle jumping
Awesome day of work on the race jeep!! Looks like the hole crew helped get lots more done on it also!!! It’s definitely nice to have others that you can trust to work on your stuff for sure!!! I don’t no a lot of people that can help me out on all my pickup projects!!! Actually I’ve definitely been looking for someone that could help build me a set of custom headers for my 1969 Chevy 1Ton 4x4 that I have built a 421 sbc and stuffed in it!!! I can’t even find anyone around my area that can tig weld a set of custom headers for me!!! Awesome work you all and remember keep up all the hard work for sure and you will have it done before you no it!!!!
With Matt and crew in the house, it’s going to be an awesome day 👌

Every time!
If you would plate the slider, it makes for a great area to pivot on. Also, the sliders are gonna get dented in, no way around it, unless... you take some solid aluminum rod and have it milled so you can slide it inside the tube, then cap off the ends. Works great!
@MischiefMakerTV
Жыл бұрын
That’s the idea (and why both of those lower tubes are still open ended). Hope there is enough time to do that this time around

@@MischiefMakerTV Why? That size alloy bar stock will be 250 plus a side and all it will do is add weight and stop a few dents. If it dents, it dents, it's a race truck not a show pony. It's your baby but as a racer myself (class 2 buggies and a rally car), I don't see the point.
@MischiefMakerTV

@@marvindebot3264 If this were a crawler on 42s like MM I wouldn’t bother, but we don’t have .188 wall tubing and I’d like to get more than 1-2 races out of each pair of sliders. Hammer trails are harder on parts than most people realize especially if you plan on blasting your way through them on 37” tires!
I like the corvair for recovery but I think what is needed for these very narrow roads is a rig just 5 ft. wide to be safe on these trail roads only to rescue 4x4 's 7 side by side's or ect. Narrow like an old CJ5 but all with non-stock engines & all running gear. built to handle any thing like the Corvair
More good progress on the Nessie!! Looking better and better all the time!!
Another awesomeness video 😍 my opinion best rock sliders if you have tools or friends help build your own of high quality steel. Great group working together 😊😊👍
tire deflation ,will also cause rubbing!!!
Lucky you found the tyer problem, before it was all welded, all the best to yous and your loved ones

Good to see you Matty.
Wow! great to see friends helping out the get er done.
Great video and great job with your jeep and I would change the back space on the wheels and or put smaller tires on it, God bless from GA and stay safe

Just different backspace wheels. Very few people run 4.75” for this exact reason. I thought we could get away with it, but 6 more beadlocks are on the way with 3.5” backspace. And that should do the trick 🤞🏻
Getten after it today baby, heck yeah!
Awesome job today.

Could you relocate the resevers for the shocks for more room?
Don't forget about tire buldge when aired down.
Just an FY : bend the end of the rod so ya don't pop an eyeball out....or shorten it in half....cheers
Tom and Lissie are both great welders
You should mirror polish that aluminum rear armor as an added distraction for the competition🤣
OK Matt, that’s it! You’re not coming out with enough videos every day!! Your content is so good, so outstanding, it would behoove you to produce and release 4 to 6 hours of video content every day!!! Got it???????
High quality craziness. That’s a great crew to show up and crash out a bunch of work. I expect the interference is a bit disappointing but better to find out now than on the racecourse with a shock being ripped off and wonder why

Yeah, that would have been an expensive mistake to find out the hard way. Luckily it’s an easy fix. 😊
old school bumper cars are cool
Lizzy out here turning into a master fabricator.
I would think a solid or plated rock slider would be more efficient. Can't rocks hang up on each individual spacer/support you have between the bars. I understand most of these rocks are massive but one smaller or jagged rock could not only hang up the jeep but at speed even damage the slider. You could drop the outer rock slider bar lower in elevation and that would hit first and protect the support/spacers from making contact.
@MischiefMakerTV

They are far from done. There will be some additional material added soon, but damaging the sliders is not a concern. They are essentially sacrificial and will probably be replaced every other season.
@mikenixon5936

@@MischiefMakerTV I understand they are sacrificial, my concern was damage to the point of slowing or stopping your ability to complete a race. Look forward to seeing the finished product.

I haven't been welding for 30 years nor do I consider myself very good at it. When I saw the full release of the pedal, I had the same thoughts. I came to the comments to see if I was missing something on that one. I get what he's trying to teach Lizzy though, it is kinda funny because I'm nearly certain that ESAB has it's own pulse settings if they wanted to automate that part. (I know then pedal control isn't learned). I'm still watching carefully to see if I can get any "light bulb" moments on my own TIG skills.

could have saved yourself a major headache by joining a jk group for some guidance lol
@MischiefMakerTV

Possibly, but changing wheels isn’t a major headache when it comes to building something custom - at least IMO it’s not a major headache. Also, there really aren’t a ton of people that have any practical build advice when it comes to building a custom chassis with the suspension integrated to this degree - even fewer folks when you consider we are also working with custom width axles. When we set out to build the rig, most of the numbers we wanted to hit (bump, ride height, etc…) we’re fairly easy. I’m glad the folks at Fox and our more experienced semi-pro and professional racers pushed for more aggressive numbers, because the vehicle will be that much better in the end, but small inconveniences like this are part of the process. It’s the same with the front end. A 2.75” relocation on the steering box will now become a 6.75” forward relocation and it is complicating a few things, but that’s not something anyone in a JK group would likely have experience with…because at that point most people would have simply opted for full hydro and ditched the steering box. The only reason we are keeping it is because the rules for the class require it and I am consulting with some of the best Ultra4 drivers and builders out there. That’s said, if you know anyone specific I should speak to, please let me know. I’m always happy to speak with and learn from any 4500 class expert! 😊🤙🏻
