in 2008/2009 when everyone was getting evicted my mother-in-law and I (24 at the time and fresh out of college with no money) would cruise around and pick up the big black trashbags the landlords and forclosure teams would pile up outside the houses. All of my pyrex cookware, french white bakeware, metal bakeware, flatware came from those trashbags and I am still using it in 2021. We got lamps and wooden furniture and all kinds of good housewares. We didn't keep any of the soft items like towels, matresses, upolstered items becasue of possible bugs and you couldn't easily clean it. I will forever love my mother-inlaw for showing me all the trash that gets thrown away that I can live well off of for free with only a little bleach, dish soap and elbow grease. Now that I am financially secure I still will pick up items out of the trash and clean them up for Goodwill donations or to pass on to other young people starting out.

It is so refreshing to see young people recycling like this! You are helping those in need by reselling the items for a decent cost and also picking up good items to reuse. You also said it correctly ... spend the time enjoy those you love and what you enjoy doing. Bravo!!!

Iowa calls this spring clean up week. We furnished almost our entire home one year with other people's throw aways... People couldn't believe the antique and beautiful stuff i got. Even found a working inflatable hot tub that year! Recycle reduce reuse, if we shared with one another we would reduce our garbage by astronomical amounts! Surprised more communities don't do this

When our daughter moved into her house it needed a really deep, deep clean! The carpets in the bedrooms and hallway and stairs needed a good clean too. I used my carpet cleaner machine and gave them all three shampoos and disinfectant clean. A very large house and carpets are very expensive so it was worth investing time to save them. Three hallways and three lengths of stairs. Plus three large bedrooms. They came up like new. A long arduous task but so worth it in the end. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Love you guys! You said it well Tucker! I have always struggled with not feeling worthy enough while growing up with 2 Brothers and felt my parents were disappointed in me. It took me years to get diagnosed with ADD and Severe OCD. Which explained why I struggled thru periods of my life. My parents loved me just as much as my brothers but listening to others compare me to them over the years caused me pain and heartache but I can say now I do follow my dreams and I am a reseller on eBay and I dumpster dive, trash pick, yard sale, and thrift shop to source my goods to sale. Tucker you are the reason I am doing what I do. I started watching you right after you started dating Sammy and your message you delivered from every video hit me like a train and I woke one day and stopped listening to everyone else and now I am walking a road I should have traveled long ago. I thank you and Sammy Jo for your passion and dedication to what you do!

I’m not too sure if you are going to see this, but I just wanted to thank you for the last five minutes of this video. It is exactly what I needed to hear. I’ve been going through a lot lately with the death of both of my parents and several life changes. I’ve been finding it hard to face the world as I once knew it. The best way to describe it is that I feel very stuck. I’ve been thrifting and reselling for a few months now. Although my business isn’t booming, it has been a great form of therapy for me. It gives me something to do to keep me from overthinking. And most importantly, it is helping me work on myself so that I can eventually get back into helping others. Thank you again and all my best to the both of you!

It really is true that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure! Especially now with supply shortages so much stuff that’s used has more value than ever before. It never ceases to amaze me what people get rid of so casually in wealthy areas. I’ve found stunning items for pennies in goodwill stores like Seattle and NY but never thought of beach towns. So glad I found you!

Tucker & Sammy J. nice to meet you both via your video fascinating. I'm speaking to you from New Zealand where I was born & raised. Tucker your last comment at the end of this video was fascinating talking about how you & Sammy have anxiety problems about "overthinking" and not being able to "get out of your head". I found a solution that worked for me because I too am an overthinker lol!!! I would say to myself "My thoughts, feelings, and actions are under control!!!" I would say these simple words a couple of times and just leave it there and it worked for me. Just wanted to share with you and Sammy J. what worked for me every time. First time watching your video - you are very fortunate in America to be able to go out and collect stuff people wastefully throw away and on-sell it, that doesn't happen here in my small town area but in the larger cities it happens but they are too far away for us to just get up and travel because of the cost of petrol and the distance would take about 4-5 hours. Thank you both for sharing.

  • @martinconyard

I agree with you Jennifer Gorman, I was almost yelling about the leather chair. It takes years to get that kind of wear and patina and Clients will pay a premium for that kind of thing. But I think I am preaching to the choir here because you said that with authority 😉 There really IS so much education at your fingertips online Tucker and Sammie J and the absolute majority of it is just like the trash picking finds: completely free. Something I have done and continue to do is register with local auction houses, these have been my University Education because if they have an online presence, they will very often tell you what the items sold for and over here in the UK, you can add a buyer's premium that they charge which is separate to the commission they also charge the seller and then there's the tax, too. All of that will give you the real value of the item to the buyer. I'm talking anywhere from an additional 10, 15, 20% on top of the hammer price plus tax that your buyers will be expecting to pay. Try to cultivate your usual one-off customers and make them repeat clients. You can even pick them out at the auction sales when you get to know who repeatedly buys what and be bold and ask them if they would be interested in private purchases 😉 They can be another source of education too. I also love to go to the presale viewing days, buy a catalogue and I view the items in conjunction with the catalogue and write down what I think the hammer price will be. Then on auction day, I go along with my catalogue and I then write down what the items actually go for. I tell you guys, it's fun AND you learn so, so, much and with there being two of you, you can have a fun competition to see who got closest on the majority of the hammer prices. I really hope you find that the above is useful information. I have done it and except for the Co - vid restrictions, I still like to do it at the various sales that take place, whether furniture, collectibles, fine art or just a General Sale where just about anything comes through as lots. Even cars go through on them. Police Auctions are very often a great place to buy some random stuff and it all sells. I appreciated your words about mental health too and I am pretty sure it's International Suicide Awareness week this week and it's something that doesn't get spoken about nearly enough and yet the suicide rate has increased exponentially and it's still a Taboo subject. Check how people around you are doing and when you ask, take the time to actually listen to the answers they give and with gentle probing you may just save a life. Right, I am the one rambling now but keep talking about Mental Health Issues and if someone is struggling and open up to you, especially about suicide, you can point them in the direction of the nearest NAMI meeting where there is SO much support and information about Suicide in particular and that support can be for people dealing with the loss of a family member or a friend, counseling for a person who has had suicidal feelings and asks for help and for people who have a friend or a family member who they worry may be having suicidal thoughts and feelings and there are people YOU can speak to about the best or most effective ways to talk to the person about suicide. Take care of yourselves and each other and you won't go wrong. I usually say to newlyweds that a great thing to hang onto is this: you don't have to be right all the time. You love this person, so let them win, too. Even if you know darn well that they are wrong and remember this two word mantra - "Yes dear" Much love to you both and to all my fellow subscribers 🙏🏻 May God, (as you do or do not understand him,) bless and protect you all and your families 🙏🏻❤️❤️

Usually when furnish apartments and hotel rooms are remodeled EERYTHING goes whether it is working condition or not. Probably 90% of the time if not more, the items like TVs, A/C units, etc. will work. Just in case you don't know.... for the A/C units, just pull the units out of the housing and take them to the carwash and making sure not to bend the aluminum fins, spray out both coils, and so when you sell them the people will be getting clear airflow with as little restriction yo that airflow from previous use pulling air across the coils. Washing it will also help to eliminate most of the odors caught in the Styrofoam and dirt in the coil, so when started it won't smell like whatever the pervious room smelled like whether that was basic hotel room or old take out food. It looks like you're bringing a good hall for the day, that is so awesome and such a Blessing that you are able to do so!!! Much Love, and many more of the LORD's blessings!!!
