Showing you some of the cute cottagecore things I saw in a new thrift store I haven't been to. I left a lot there but also came home with a LOT lol - including a whole stack of vintage leather-bound classic books. One of my BEST hauls YET!

    Being the actual 65 year old grandma....lol... I relate to your love of books. Like me...if you start young.....you will have a select collection in time. My bookcases stashed with classics are backdrop of my "sanctuary" decor. Don't let anyone stifle your treasure hunts!

    The beauty about second hand finds is, you find something you want and then find a better version of it, then re-donate the original. Win win, perfect recycling and the best way to find exactly what you want, without adding to consumerism. Loved everything you found 😍xx

    I know that this is an older video but what I suggest doing for books you no longer need is to find several of those Little Free Libraries in your area, especially high traffic ones. I have several that I frequent and within a few days everything that I have put in there has been taken.

    Hahaha I just don’t wanna seem like a hoarder, and also some want me channel to be JUST a thrifting channel 😂 Id hate to have one niche. I am making sure lately to only buy things I absolutely love and have a vision for. It’s amazing that I’ve been able to transform my home into the home of my dreams simply from thrifting. When I first moved to this home I didn’t have any decor and it stayed that way for a few years. I only started hanging things on the walls recently.

    i believe the floral doily you showed was cross stitch, i wasn't able to get a close up view but cross stitch is basically pixel art made with x's of thread. it can include some embroidery for outlines or details but the majority of it will be those little x's of thread. i've done several cross stitch projects, it's pretty fun. :)

    some nice books there! I actually have same Sherlock Homes book and read it many times, one of my favorite. do you actually read them? I notice lots of people these days buy books just for their cover, sadly...

  • @DressMeUpScotty

    @DressMeUpScotty

    2 жыл бұрын

    Admittedly I do mostly buy books to be decorative and look nice because I can’t stand the way that modern books look (unless they’re special editions like the Sherlock Holmes book). However I do prefer to buy books I’ve read and like. For example I have read Sherlock Holmes and I think I mentioned I prefer to listen to audiobooks which I have all of the Sherlock Holmes books on audible. I have inattentive Adhd so it’s incredibly hard to sit still and read because I have this constant urge to be up and doing something but I also have to be engaging my brain so I’m always listening to podcasts, KZread video essays and of course: audio books. I have a lot of paperbacks of classics I’ve read that I hide away and I’m slowly replacing them with hard covers with nice binding. Like the Sherlock Holmes books. I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing if people want to collect things because they look pretty. I have a lot of books from the 1910’s-1930’s that are beautiful but way too delicate to read through without a lot of care. Some people collect records, knickknacks, and antique books are a similar thing. You feel like you own a piece of history. I always love it when the original owners name is written in it or there’s a dedication from a gift giver. It makes you wonder about the person who used to own it.
