There's a guy I follow, Attitude Adjuster, from Down Under, that HAD a brand new Massey tractor. He was posting almost daily all the problems he was having. He claimed both Massey and the dealer were Dicking him around to the point that there was no communication anymore. After posting so many negative comments, Massey bought the tractor back. He erased all the negative reviews. Also he bought a Deere for replacement.

I'm a Massey guy. I do custom baling with Massey tractors and large square balers. But the massey round baler is not built heavy enough. Tried lots of different colors. Ended up with a vermeer corn stalk special. Not perfect but definitely the best one so far. Claas was the worst by miles. Still mad about it 5 years later. New Holland designed well, but built too light. Next one will either be vermeer or I would like to try krone. Too bad you didn't get good results from your dealer. Our Agco dealer is really good.

Sounds to me like your issue was the dealer support. I run 2 of those machines and my neighbors run 3. We have had some of the same issues but so what, every machine does. I just replaced my first gearbox at 12,000 bales. The housing was getting eroded from driveline vibration, and the aluminum housing will self clearance. The cost of the gearbox was $500. I wasnt too upset. Granite a cast gearbox would of helped last longer. I really really like the monitors. The diagnostic part helps find and resolve an issue quick. I have replaced a few sensors but they are inexpensive as well and easy to change.

Why change what works? Their not in the shop all the time. Their out baling hay. Especially for owners that have sorry maintenance programs to none and can't even take the time to blow a baler off between fields or before it's looked at for a trade. No reason for Deere to change a design that is working excellent, unlike AGCO unreliable junk. These balers are sitting all over North America dealer lots. 2016 models brand spanking new with not one bale ran through them. Show me a Deere like that. You will not find one.

a few lessons I learned from dealing with Livingston Machinery, When Livingston Machinery says something has been through their shop, they apparently mean the doors were open on both ends of the shop and your machine went right through the shop without stopping, Livingston's claims to offer 24/7 service during hay season, I guess that expires the day after you buy a baler from them, I ordered a moisture tester from them went to pick it up they said it was sold? I started raising Cain one of the guys said someone else had a brand new tester that didn't work he brought it in and picked up a new one? then someone claimed he found the one I ordered I took it home and guess what My tester didn't work, jaws dropped in the crowded lobby when I very loudly explained the fast one they pulled on me with the moisture tester.

Overall pretty small problems. I hope my new one is like the one I had and not Like yours. I have learned a trick about starting a new roll of net....you’ve got to give it lots of slack after you stuff the knot down front. I’m hoping to keep mine traded by about 10,000 or less. I looked at a new 560m yesterday while I was waiting, basically same design they've been using for 20 to 30 years now just with bigger chains. The John Deere pickup is a little more complex, but is proven. Even though I hate the square style teeth they use. I have such an issue with them breaking off. This year the 567 John Deere we have that was purchased new in 2001 has turned over 32000 bales. I just put in its first set of new belts, I have replaced most of the bearings, some of them twice. the gearbox is original but I am on my second PTO shaft. The chamber walls are getting thin, and we are at the point now of do we run it until it completely dies? Or sell it on a decent a year for 7,000? And upgrade to another Vermeer or deere. Not sure at this point which one I would buy. I like them both, and both have their issues. Getting parts for Heston or Massey in this area has become a nightmare. A wise move on your part you should be very satisfied going forward

I had major starting a bale issues with mine. They put a more aggressive starter roller and a soft core kit on and it helped a lot. Never cared for my roller windguard. Never had much net issues as you but there are times when it’s frustrating. All in all I like my Baler now but if and when I trade it off, it will be for a deere 460M. Did you have issues with the hay wrapping around the starting roller when starting a new bale? I have a 2746A (two generations older), and it has always tended to do this. It's the old style starter with the rubber flaps (believe yours are steel bars), and new flaps help quite a bit, but it'll still do it from time to time. Mine will also clog when the hay isn't all that heavy. I've had to open the tailgate and dump an unwrapped bale because it will either slip the clutch or kill the tractor when clogged, just to find after dumping the bale that the "clog" was a little wad of hay that I could pull out by hand. I also have issues with the netwrap getting sucked on to the bottom rear roller of the tailgate, quite frequently. It's frustrating, because like you say, it makes a better bale and has a better general design than any of the other American balers. I have never been impressed with Deere's design and will probably never have one because resale is too high for someone like me. It's too bad that you don't have a Vermeer dealer, because I am impressed with their new design. If I trade anytime soon (unlikely), I want to consider a Vermeer N series. It is sad, though, because I remember my old Hesston 846A, and I would have challenged anyone with that baler. It kicked butt. I hoped to get the same toughness out of my 2746A, but it just gets finicky with hay.

Hate to see that happen. But it seems to be that the deere and new holland equipment is what holds its value. I have a 664 NH myself with about 15,400 bales on it. That bearing behind the clutch on yours I just changed on mine but only because the shaft broke off and I was in there to it. It would have run quite a while yet. This winter I need to change bearings in all the tailgate rolls, at some point put in new belts and chains, and probably cam bearings in the pickup and it will run 15,000 more. I disagree on updating the monitor just because. NH went to a touch screen on the 560, 460 etc. and my dealer sells more with the downgrade older style monitor because it causes less problems. Agco has pretty much abandoned our area, the dealer in our town closed up when the owner retired. Rumor was the multi store dealer 60ish miles north wanted to buy him out and Agco said not unless you build a new building. The market share here is low enough it wasn't worth it to them. So now it's a 2+ hour drive to an Agco dealer and there's probably 8 deere stores and 9 caseih stores inside that span. I think Agco also lets their dealers down on the support end. I can get JD, NH, or CIH parts next day in most cases. If I order anything from an Agco dealer its 3 days if I'm lucky, and their parts depot is closer than the others.

I found a dealer that actually stocks parts for the white planters and tye drills of which I have a 5100 and a 2015 drill. It's a 4-5 hour round trip but they also ups ship and the service is great. In the US I'd say Vermeer, mostly because krone dealers seem far away from each other, all I've seen of them is demos and at shows.(Northern Plains) My Vermeer dealer can't keep new or used Vermeers on hand, we've put 35000+ bales on 5 different models each and never had any problems except for maybe 3 bearings each. Traded it because the walls begin to get thin after 35k. Heavy duty, Overbuilt, over designed balers, take a look at how heavy everything is on one sometime. Look at how big the bearings are, the metal, all overbuilt. Pretty good resale at 35-40k too, the people who bought my old ones say they put another 10k easily without issue.

If you can find a dealer anywhere reasonably close I would suggest looking at a Claas round baler next time you upgrade / trade. I currently run a NH have looked at them all and Claas is what we'll be going with next go round.

Metal shavings coming off the side walls so bad the magnet sensors picked up the shavings and malfunctioned... bent rotors, And on and on and on, The vermeer corn stalk special has operated in the same conditions for 7k bales now with only minor problems...

@@karsniafarms I've heard of several people having trouble with them starting bales in light dry crops. I was actually looking at a NH but didn't like the stuffer feeding system they offered if you didn't rotary cutter. If you never ran a baler with rotary feed you don't know what you're missing. Plus now that I have the claas I found out the chamber is very so fine grass and leaves are saved much better. New Holland's baler line up always seemed to clustered to me to many balers to choose from. For instance like silage special or high moisture to me that's the same baler. Where claas for instance sets every baler with all the roll scrapers and stuff to bale wet hay so they will bale anything!
