It’s more than that though. Many jails are dealing with a lack of space to place inmates and lack of funds to take care of them all. Remember though, the more ppl that are locked up, the more you are paying in taxes to help feed, and take care of them. Not to mention tax money going into building more space for inmates.

I get what ur saying and agree but it’s much easier said than done and there is so much more to it than just lenient judges. From a lack of funds to take care of inmates, to lack of space, to lenient judges, to lenient prosecutors, to good defense attorneys , to the punishment having to fit the crime, to our system being broken, to the laws and guidelines needing to be addressed in congress, and not to mention there are max sentencing guidelines. It’s not as easy as “hold a judge accountable, that’ll fix it.” It’s most likely not even the judges fault. it’s not like these criminals aren’t doing any jail time at all. They do a good amount of time but the issue is that they always get out bc of max sentence guidelines or due to the parole/shock probation system. But that’s how our laws and judicial system works

Maybe not all the news is true but there are stories more than ever that show a clear weakness to punishing those devils that deserve it but seem to slip through loose ranks of our system of justice.

@@SJ-ni6iy Maybe (My belief) some parents need to be investigated if their child does serious crime whilst they yhe parents are responsible. But I can not agree that a law needs to be written that charges them along with their children because a son or daughter did a crime. To do so would in my opinion lead to injustices or an absurdity. There are clear cases of some children stepping across the tracks to the wrong side entirly with out their parants approval or knowledge. You could say: 'Well they should know'. But the facts are that some do not and some can not as the child could slip out of his window late at night. In you 'charge the parents also' there could be many innocent parents made criminals when they had nothing to do with the criminal behaviour the child got in to. Maybe the child got in with the wrong sort at school (gang culture). So behaviour could be wrong with out the parants being told.

In a country of 350 million with 400 million plus weapons….so yeah unfortunately some death is bound to be occurring somewhere sometime.

I’m 15 minutes from Florence. This is a very rare event. Shocking.

But we've shut down all the mental health hospitals with no where for them to go and wonder why crime is sky rocketing. Yes there was abuse but we needed reformation for MH institutions not complete closures and removal of funding

True. And this is a common problem today in gatherings. In some case the party is an illegal event with attendees not known, and cases like this where it seems a simple event, yet too many outsiders will know of it. Best practice these days is always have a security box on your to do list.

Not sure what the age limit is for alcohol in Kentucky is but sounds like most of the victims were underage and the one that wasn't invited was not invited for a very good reason. Sounds like anger triggered this.

21 is the legal drinking age in all of the United States. However, that doesn't mean underage people can't get a hold of alcohol.

You can tell this officer is very upset. I have a lot of respect for the police. I could never handle what they have to see and do. God bless them.

"As American as Apple Pie"? Not where I live. The US is a very big country, by the way. In my locality this violent felon (Chase Garvey) would be considered a very extreme example of a miscreant. Certainly not average or "Apple Pie" in any sense. Shootings are not unknown here, but "mass shootings" of 4 or more? Two people do not qualify, but for example: "Two men are dead after a shooting happened Sunday night... October, 2021." Note the date.

This is obviously something this town has ever experienced. And they were all so young!

How many times does a criminal need to show you his a criminal before you believe him? I KNOW he was 14 when he raped a 3 year old. That is old enough to know better and that type of thinking doesn't change. He should've been locked up for life for what he did at 14. This is another system failure and innocent people are impacted for life!

I’m 78 female and don’t mingle in public. I do pickup groceries, no parking lots, no shopping, gas at a busy station…feel I would be a target. It’s just too crazy!

SO SAD...BUT people are FINALY realizing that you can't protect these killers and ever live in a safe neighborhood....If they are not caught they WILL kill again and most likely in their own areas...

Not sure how a guy with an assault type crime on his record is allowed to own a gun????? Assault is assault. To me it seems the state of Ky should be liable in a civil suit allowing for this to happen.

Didn't you hear the officer say, he was a felon and shouldn't have had a gun, but really this, while people are trying to take law abiding citizens guns, they know that a criminal will never turn THEIRS in ,can always get a gun from somewhere ,knows that criminal criminals will never abide by the law, if they were going to they would not be criminals to stop with, by breaking the laws. There is no way police officers can watch a,convicted criminals 24/7 making sure they don't get a gun. The city isn't responsible for what happened, if you want to go after anyone for money over a death, go afloat the DA, judge that let that guy back on the streets, they are the ones responsible, in my opinion and others.

Maybe you need to accept you shouldn’t be making comments. This person should never be allowed access to a gun. Accept the fact that people are dead because stupid people in the state of KY have that access. Is it the police department’s fault? - No. Is it the victims fault? No. Is it the State law and NRA’s fault? A lot more plausible.

A dad's responsibility is to protect his wife and the mother of his kids and his kids, but he failed. The justice system also failed by releasing this violent criminal(rapist) back into society.
