The lawyers who actually did the work ought to sue if they try to put "Based on a true story" in the film or claim anything of the sort in its advertising. Last time I checked, false advertising was still a crime.

I would like to know how people in Hollywood can blatantly say that they hate and want to tick off their customers and keep their jobs (or even get promoted), yet anyone in any other industry does that and they're fired.

A lot of this ESG acceptance in Marvel/Disney is because many of the characters copyrights are about to expire and they’re trying to tank and tarnish the original characters so their new characters won’t be under scrutiny for making payments to the creators and their estates. They’re not actually caring about this crap. But they get to claim virtue in the process of destroying what other people created just so they can keep all the money.

This fake virtue signaling mentality is despicable. What they did to the 3 persons who triumphed against the pharmaceutical industry is a new low.

In the case of Doctor Who, I'm confused why they tore down and deprecated the male Doctor. Keep in mind, I am an not at all knowledgeable on DW lore, but I remember being really fond of Rose Tyler; she was an excellent companion to the Doc, and served to pose differing ideas to the Doctor. If they want a female/nonwhite Doctor, cool, but give the character a partner who challenges their ideas, who sometimes even opposes them. The one episode I remember most, where the Doctor and Rose essentially teleport into Area 51, the Doctor is about to straight up kill a Dalek. And it makes sense why, Daleks are literal murder roombas. But this particular Dalek was tortured by the scientists of the facility, which Rose immediately attempted to put a stop to. In an extremely tense scene, Rose and the Dalek are put into a room together... And the Dalek refuses to attack. It spares Rose Tyler. Rose again throws herself in front of it, arguing that by killing this machine, the Doctor would destroy a part of himself. And the Doctor, in a shakey voice, tells her that all the Daleks are dead. The Dalek dies, opening the machine up so the creature inside could feel the sun.

Thanks for making this. I watched that Painkiller and had no idea the history had been edited that way (though it was clearly dramatized).

Sadly the creators aren't crazy and unable to see what they are doing. They know exactly what they are doing and doing it with purpose. They are evil people and their sole intention is to divide and foment chaos.

I had no idea about Pain Killer. From Netflix's portayal I assumed it was this black female person. Not a black washed strong female girl boss Mary Sue. The destruction of historical events is wrong and will kill Netflix. I feel these liberal left leaning company (Netflix, Disney/Marvel etc) will happily watch the world burn around them... and then it does, they'll claim they're the victim and not realise it's their fault

old hollywood did it for "star power" reasons, they wanted to make money so the execs would put in well known stars into all their leading roles, they didnt take risks old hollywood was very strict about their stars dating, dresses, diets, behaviors, scandals, marriages, etc

Unfortunately I've already seen Painkiller as I knew nothing about the real events & was intrigued by the story. I now understand that the investigator character was race swopped so the story played out as - 'heroic person from minority demographic single handedly takes down evil white man company.' My IQ dropped as I wrote that.

I liked the first black Dr Who.

Every time photos of these re-imagined historical figures appeared, I literally looked away from the screen. A certain level of stupidity and selfishness of people in Hollywood is simply unbearable. The worst thing about all this is that even if a historical figure or the author of the universe is still alive, they can still spit in his face and pretend that he doesn't exist and never existed. I've been dreaming about a Witcher TV series for years, and now I really wish it had never been made.

What irks me is how actors we admire from long ago have the nerve to call us out for badmouthing other actors who are on board with the pandering stuff, like how Ewan McGregor did for Moses Ingram and Jodi Benson did for Halle Baily. I thought they had better common sense than that, but I guess the ol 'never meet your heroes' term meant more that it let on.

It can't continue forever, sooner or later, money will dry and they will all bite the dust. We just have to stop giving them time and money.

They race swapped her in this dramatization coming out, or it's out. I don't watch this stuff, I just read a rundown on it. They said the raceswap is because it's a different, fictional character, even though it's based on reality, and the little girl's exact story is the alleged "fictional character's" story. That's disgusting in the highest degree.

It’s a shame none of these weirdos have any sort of creative integrity. I’ve always said to myself, I don’t care what I end up doing with the rest of my life, just as long as I have the opportunity to entertain people. That promise to myself now comes with trying to maintain my own integrity while doing so and staying true to my audience and the paying customers alike.

I’m kind of shocked about the PAINKILLERS casting, it’s ACTUALLY disturbing because I thought they were mostly rewriting history over the past thousand or so years, but here they’re rewriting the last decade - I have no words and there should be a boycott.

I think we're well passed the apathy stage and into the anger stage at this point. ESG and DIE have been the worst poisons inflicting humanity in the past years.

CSI, NCIS, Law & Order, Lucifer, Brooklyn 99, Monk, Bones, and virtually every other crime show doesn't have one main character for the audience to focus on. All the characters have different dynamics that compliment each other to solve the case but also sometimes conflict to cause a little bit of drama. People could easily have followed the three lawyers in Painkiller.

Don't pay for any streaming services, only go to the cinema to see a movie that's not woke. They think it will never happen, but Hollywood's money WILL run out.

Regarding Dr. Who, many of its defenders say "This show ALWAYS rewrote history - what's the problem with Newton?" I will tell you. When this show used to change history, it was so the story could happen - it was central to the plot. But the change to Newton was completely unnecessary. The show's writers admit they did it purely for "representation". And at the end of each traditional episode, the changes to history were undone or hushed up. History then carried on as before, nobody was the wiser. But the change to Newton would be visible now and forever. So, NO, the rewrite of Newton is nothing like the show's usual playing with history. It's VANDALISING history - exploiting the great man for the "woke" agenda. And insulting the people of Lincolnshire who call him their own.

What I find funny with this is that I was never a Doctor Who fan but my wife was a huge one. She stopped watching when it became female Doctor Who. She said that it become so much more about his helpers than about the Doctor and she just lost interest in the whole thing. Now with Disney being involved I doubt she will watch it again .

Then you have to find one that took up acting. Why they needed a trans actor to play a trans character is beyond me though. Surely the role should have been an acting role for Donnas daughter and true representation would be them casting for a female role and if one happened to be trans then so be it. But it wasnt about that, it was about pushing an ideology which is why all that character was is a vehicle to push messaging

Please actually cite an example of a non-African archeological team doing a dig that the local national government didn’t approve. Hint: it never happened because there is literally no logistical way for it to work and would have been all over the news if it did. Have there been cases of things being taken out of country that arguably shouldn’t have been? Yes. Has there been an illegal excavation? Never, at least not by actual archaeologists. You’ll find plenty of locals happy to dig something up for a nice payday, though (that’s true just about anywhere in the world). If you would like to argue about artifacts in need of being returned, go right ahead, but don’t make stuff up.

And the Arab nations were not only given extra privileges, but they also allowed the British to desecrate the pyramids in Egypt and Sudan. This was a joke I made years back to someone, but I'd actually like to see how it performs today. So basically I said "let's reshoot '12 years a slave' but the only change we make is switching the races. Make everyone who performed a black role, white and vice versa." It’s sad that we live in a world where we villainies historical accuracy.

There are many stories that don't have a singular 'hero' but when you have lazy writers who don't know how to write stories of people working together the end result is Painkiller. I'd rather attribute it to laziness than maliciousness of people who are so used to being divisive that they don't know how to represent people working together in a common cause.

I hear you, Endymion. I would be scared to buy a history book from Netflix. Knowing them, they'll have a documentary about Benjamin Franklin, who was shipped to America on a slave ship and played by actress Queen Latifa.....

I love how Dr. Who is effectively keeping David Tennant on the back burner for when the new series inevitably flops. The new guy has the charisma for such an eccentric role, but I don't have high hopes for the writing.

It's sad that a black actor is so thirsty that they would do this. That these black actors would do so speaks volumes about their lack of integrity. These same actors would call for someone's head if the situation were reversed.

This is unfortunately the case with so many people. While the first thing I do after seeing a movie that is based on history that I liked or am interested in is to go find out "What was the real story.", most people are, honestly, stupid. Most people will not do this, white, black, and everything else, most people of every race are just stupid. Most will believe what they saw was accurate because "Why would they make him black if he wasn't really black? Did Hollywood/BBC suddenly run out of white actors?" And that is a reasonable couple of statements to make; by people who have no idea how irrational and unreasonable the people are who are producing shows today.@@braticuss

If you want to see a fictionalized composite character done right, watch "Chernobyl". Emily Watson as "Ulana Khomyuk" was perfect. She was a white woman representing dozens of male and female white scientists that supported the historic Valery Legasov. It was a necessary reduction of characters done beautifully. Also, at the end of the series the fact that she was a composite character who was created for practical and dramatic reasons was presented to the viewer as well as picture of the real scientist she represented.

Several years ago during the Matt Smith era of doctor who, they had a couple episodes with Van Gogh and they got an actor who looks EXACTLY like Van Gogh based on portraits and photos. “Bringing people together” and “just having fun with it” wasn’t a priority then huh? Were you pulling people apart and being serious then? Russell Davies was also showrunner/writer when the episodes were released.

Damn, I didn't know that about the show Pain Killer. Funny, I was about to read the book, "dopesick" that I imagine would have the names of the actual investigators. Also, "Painkiller" was almost identical to "Dopesick", watch those 2 back to back and tell me this wasn't a 3 year old remake... lol.

Cleopatra was in Africa and one of her parents were of unknown origin. The actor that played her wasn’t black, she was mixed. Which is the right call. And the actor who played Isaac Newton clearly wasn’t black. At this point you say any person with a dark hue is black but when we talk about the hieroglyphics on the wall depicting black people then people wanna throw every excuse as to why that’s not so. Thank you for being a true patriot and exposing these idiots and I know this isn't something you would probably make a video on but if you happen to come across this comment my dad wants to hear your thoughts on a video game called the day before it's basically just a scam and the studio is called fantastic pretty ironic considering there is nothing fantastic about they're games lol

If you live in the UK you can cancel your TV licence with the BBC, however what happens next is that you will be sent letters at least monthly telling you that you are under investigation, which is often written in red letters on the envelope. You will be subject to people hammering on your door, trying to coherse you into saying you watch TV, including cases of getting people to sign forms which were then later altered to achieve a prosecution. The door knockers are paid on commission so have a vested interest in getting their numbers. This never stops unless of course you give in and buy a licence. You get no choice about the crap the BBC produce and how they spend your money on including turning Dr Who a British favourite into a woke disaster.

This is all so sad. All imagination has stopped, creativity and making new and lasting characters has ended. Where the hell did I put that time machine!?

Hollywood isn't solely to blame. It's happening everywhere.

It's a matter of focus. You have a short time to tell a story. If you're putting so much effort into politics, the rest will suffer. It's that simple.

Documentaries and movies based on real stories should never have a race swap. Fictional characters are a different thing. I get upset because these people made it a point to race swap every single character that exists, except for the ones that are already back. If they weren't so obvious about it I wouldn't even notice. But historial figures? It should be a crime to race swap them. Same goes for gender and sexual orientation.

Small correction: Not to get into the nitty-gritty of TV licensing fees in the UK, but UK residents aren't forced to pay it for "living there". They pay it if they consume any public broadcasting (including streaming), as opposed to say, only streaming content from third parties like Netflix. Obviously a terrible system for a whole list of reasons - including shows like Dr. Who receiving ongoing funding despite absolutely atrocious market performance, and people routinely being fined for not paying when they don't actually use the services - but the important thing to understand is that it isn't taxpayer funded, it is user funded.

There is so much crazy right now, but revising history is probably on my top five list that truly pisses me off! I feel a deep anger! Thank you for another great commentary!

While fictional characters are up for debate, real people should be represented as is and true stories should tell the truth.

I will always remember the good times with Doctor who. Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant sparked doctor who for me and I even like watching some old versions of doctor who. I stopped after Capaldi since I think he was the last good iteration of the doctor. I am sad to see what the show has become, but I'll always remember the old and great stuff and be happy to watch them. Not this new garbage

History is one of the few subjects I actually enjoy learning about and hope for others to be properly educated about. The fact that they have the absolute AUDACITY to rewrite history and brainwash children with lies of idiocy is mind-boggling to me... it's depressing.
