Something tells me BioWare had intended for her to be a full fledged romance option but wanted to keep Liara as the main Asari romance.

It was an oddity that they kept Liara mostly out of ME2; but then they shut you out of most of your ME1 romances. I can imagine you are right, I am curious though why they decided to shut romancing her off. I would have gone for it at least once just to see what happened.

@@WickedPrince3D yeah more then having samara cut off as a romance option, idk why they cut off all me1 romance options in ME 2. Never understood why they would have done that.

@@hagoromootsutski9058 Yeah that's an odd bit. BioWare did a similar thing with their Star Wars: The Old Republic game; at some point you lose touch with the group of companions you gain through the early game including your romance partner if you had one. In some cases you've had to wait 2-3 years to renew those romances if you wanted to. In the meantime you have the option to start romances with people I had no real interest in. The only thing I can think of with ME2 was that they opened some new romance options and perhaps they wanted you to feel free to pursue them rather than "being trapped" in your ME1 romance. But I'd rather have had the option to break off my ME1 romance while keeping the companion. They had to free DLC add a tanky soldier companion to fill Ashley's role early on because you needed somebody unless you were playing a Soldier or Vanguard yourself which cut off the other class options. It comes off as just odd when your ME1 allies decide they are too busy to hang with you when they know what the stakes are in ME2.

@@WickedPrince3D you make some good points; guess we’ll never know for sure though. I was super pissed off about Liara being sidelined and cut off from the main narrative in ME 2. And then the same happens with Miranda, Thane, Jack and Samara in ME 3.

@@hagoromootsutski9058 Yeah especially with the real ME team having left BioWare; I'm betting BW had them sign "non-disclosure" contracts on everything they did for BW so they can't really talk about anything. And yes, although I'm glad that they had little story-arcs involving all the former teammates that don't rejoin us I do wish they'd done a bit more with them. At the same time if you notice in ME 1 and 2 they give you one teammate who follows each of the six basic classes - if with a twist like Liara being a biotic but with a few engineer skills (again in ME2 the exception with tanky Soldier with Zaeed and Grunt - it can take so long to get to Grunt that you will almost certainly need another Soldier before then. And Kasumi is basically another engineer also added in a DLC for unknown reasons; the DLC is fun but I've heard she's really bad in main story-mission combats because her special skills just keep getting her killed. You see plenty of that during her personal mission too unless you wait till late in the game and remember to fully level her right away.). I'm guessing they wanted to keep that 6-teammate concept going into ME3 with 6 teammates each one filling a different role. Though Ashley's divergence from being main tank to being just a sniper-soldier who isn't very tanky is odd. My first couple play-thrus of ME3 I still used her as my primary Soldier/tank even if she wasn't as good at it as she was in ME1. In ME3 she and Garrus fill basically the same role as sniper. On the other hand because of the story you don't get her for a long while so you'd once again have to have somebody else to fill the tanky-soldier role if they kept her in that role. I have the animated movie "Paragon Lost" that introduces James Vega so I kind of enjoyed that they included him on the team.

Samara entrances me in a way the other characters do not.

She was meant to be a pansexual romance, it was cut from the final game because of backlash faced by Fox News. I’m assuming the same case can be made for Miranda. She was originally intended to be a romance option for a male or femshep. Which I find odd. Asari’s are basically pansexual, and slipped through the cracks for some reason.

@@Mikeh2077 And Tali to be honest, her dialogue after helping with her loyalty mission is basically identical with the whole "I would be honoured to link suits with you" just with no option to reciprocate.

Both male and female can get those scenes as long as they're paragon and aren't romancing anyone else in 3

I once got a dialogue from jack when she said she liked me but she was not into one night stands so it was better if we didn't get into it... Lol

That ending conversation in Shepard’s apartment was beautiful. Jennifer Hale did a good job.

During my 1st playthrough I tried to romance her just for the giggles, but then she said something like "You're injustice encarnated, I'd like to kill you... but I made an oath to help you" Which is something perfectly coherent, idk why it surprised me when she's introduced as a JUSTICAR

Super accurate. My first playthrough I thought "I wonder if the new asari will be pretty" and then this magnificence of a woman shows up and my honest reaction was "holy shit"

Never played the Mass Effect series, but I've always been fascinated by Samara. She's smooth, elegant, fearless, and doesn't lie to herself about the risks of the code she lives by. Whoever wrote her deserves more than an Oscar.

This romance had the potential to be as profound and passionate as the Thane romance if developed correctly

I remember getting that scene with her and being so happy cause I had no clue it could even happen.

last words: "farewell" Come on!Samara, in my opinion, is a very interesting character, also her story and the complications of being a justicar. What a shame. Romance too, had potential, with the code thing, It could be more dramatic. They choose the faster way "the code said no, so lets kiss, but i will continue to call you FRIEND". SAD.

Would've been cool if BioWare at least tried to acknowledge lore vs gameplay issues. Like, make Jack's and Samara's (or Morinth's) biotics ignore armour bars (or preferably shield bars, too). Hell, Shepard and Miranda are also decent biotics, and should have a partial bypassing-effect on enemies' protection (maybe not to the extent of Jack and Samara, though). It would be like in ME1 where biotics are OP, but only with the top biotic-squadmates in ME2.

I believe she meant her own three daughters as the ones she knows of. Banshee's aren't Ardat-Yakshi, but any Asari they take. As shown in Priority: Thessia. Monasteries aren't on the Asari Homeworld.

I've always done the "perfect" Morinth conversation so I never knew you could bring up Nef. Got to say, for having hunted for hundreds of years and having learned how to be subtle, she sure throws up a bunch of red flags for how harshly she tries to move the conversation away from her.

You need nothing to invite her, except the Citadel DLC.

This stupid `Complete Romance` videos from non-romance options are so annoying. This one Fan-Service Citadel Dialog-Option doesn`t make Samara to a romance afterwards. Then you can put all Javik conversations and cutscenes in one video together with this one scene from the Citadel DLC and state this as "Complete Javik romance", too.
