Hey everyone! This channel is usually size comparisons but I thought it might be interesting to do a mass comparison of the Universe. This video is also the first I've rendered in realtime, so let me know what you think!

    Uy scuti is billions times bigger than our sun, Take uy scutis volume divided by our suns volume. then you see how many suns are needed to get uy scuti's size

    If you calculate the Schwarzschild radii of all the mass in the observable Universe... it turns out to be 13.7 billion light years. Coincidence? For comparison, the diameter of a black hole with the mass of the Sun is approximately 6.8km.

    UY Scuti is one of the largest star and still only 8 times heavier. A star needs to be at least 20 sm to become a black hole

    It's a mass comparison. while UY Scuti may be billions of times more voluminous than the Sun, that is irrelevant for a video about mass.

    @@scottwarren4998 mass is the most important property for a star, it's literally how much stuff is inside it and tells how the star will evolve and bahave for the most part Also the point of the video is to compare mass , if nobody does it then it only makes the point stronger! i would say mass is more important than size, a neutron star is much smaller than even big asteroids but if one came close to the solar system it would wreak havoc, it could easily destroy jupiter in seconds

    You should have used scientific notation and provided the common names for those numbers. The observable universe is 73 sextillion solar masses. That’s ~1.45e+52 kg.

    Well, that escalated fast... And that question, "How heavy is the Universe" makes no sense, we can know the mass but heavy, that depends on something else... It is a meaningless question. It is as if there is no other liquid except water, and to ask how liquid is water...Compared to what?

    Weight is mass x gravity, and the universe has plenty of both. Besides, 'how heavy is the universe' is a lot more likely to be quickly understood by most people than 'how massive is the universe' because mass and size are often confused.
