So refreshing to have a crop of young lads like Mason coming through for England, top top player, proved a lot of people wrong. Seem a lot more genuine than the England stars of the past which is quality to see.
“I’m up there, he thinks I’m better than me but I know I’m better” how’s he so humble yet confident and honest‼️
Crazy to think we havent even seen the best mount has to offer yet. What a player.
In that Chelsea youth pic they didnt even label Chalobah or Nketiah... basically half that youth team is playing Prem football now which is mental

That attacking midfield area is the strongest I think I've ever seen for England. Mount, Grealish, Foden, Sterling, Maddison, Smith-Rowe, Bellingham. That's just off the top of my head - I'm sure there's many I've forgotten or have yet to come through. The new golden age!!

When Southgate started Mount, Grealish, Foden, and Sterling against Hungary in c.Sept 2021, they were all awful. Playing attacking midfielders who don't compliment each other or the team, handicapped England for nearly a decade [remember Lampard and Gerrard]. Southgate took England to their first final and 55 years [and tore up countless other records] by emphasising on defensive midfield, not attack.

@@sarl2121 It's a matter of finding balance and playing with the right tactics. I can't think of another game where they all played together, so they were never going to be that coherent. Given time I think the 4 of them could easily play together.

@@sarl2121 It's about actually winning a trophy and being competitive against the competitive teams. Southgates tactics against Italy cost England. I'm sure Southgate has learned from it though and we will see what happens in Qatar.
