Mason Lecture - Dr. Lester Tenney: "My Hitch in Hell"
Questions & Answers @ 1:06:30
Captured by the Japanese after the fall of Bataan, Lester Tenney was one of the very few who would survive the legendary Death March and three and a half years in Japanese prison camps. With an understanding of human nature, a sense of humor, sharp thinking, and fierce determination, Tenney endured the rest of the war as a slave laborer in Japanese prison camps. His is an inspiring survivor's epic about the triumph of human will despite unimaginable human suffering.

Thank you for your great sacrifices in order for my family and my country men to be set free from Japanese imperialism. I visited the museum for the first time in 2017.
What a wonderful man. God bless him.
Unbelievable. Unspeakable tribulations. Thank you is all I know to say. The horror you experienced bring me to tears. God bless you and all who served.
Brilliant. I will never trust our State Department ever again. I already had a healthy distrust of DOD after being enlisted for 4 years.
Dr. Tenney: I cannot express enough the debt of gratitude I owe you and your fellow servicemen for the incredible sacrifice you and they made to allow me to live my life as I do today. Thank you, sir. And thanks to the National WWII Museum for allowing Dr. Tenney to tell his story. It is a story EVERYONE must hear.

I did too. I had him talk to a couple of Rotary Clubs here in San Diego (he lived in Carlsbad). One of the great honors of my life.
I have searched and searched for a documentary Murder Under the Sun and can find nothing. I have even searched for CBS Bataan documentary and can find nothing. Could the documentary he talks about at the very end have a different name?
I wonder why Japan payed for all POWS except Americans to come to Japan. Was it because of money or something else?

It was because of our evil State Department.
