The judge has clerks and many other assistants to help him do his job and they would have been there on this day. There is no way that nobody would have told the judge what was going on even if it was communicated to him electronically and not by somebody telling him in front of everyone. He knew full well this was happening in his courtroom.

They should hardly be referred to as paramilitaries when in reality they're just drug dealers .

it is pretty arrogant and cowardly! I hope the police have followed them all - the Northern Irish Coppers probably know each and every one of them anyways!

That judge should be fired. He should have quietly called for 30 or 40 cops to come to the courtroom and to have the men arrested and handcuffed for contempt of court and call for the cops to unmask them inside the courtroom before they were taken away. The fact that he didn't just exposes him as a judge who cannot do his job fairly to the law of the land and not to the call of a group within society.

Then they should uphold what that contract stipulates. People need to protest that court and call for the judges resignation for exactly those reasons. Wasn't the Good Friday agreement all about power sharing? Seems to me then that sounds like another contract that's not being upheld by one of the parties involved.

@@gerardb9501 Wouldn't surprise me, but then that would mean, or strongly suggest that the judge is crooked and knew that. Maybe he might be the weakest link in the chain tho so as I just replied to the other guy people ought to protest over that judge. If enough pressure was put on him then he may well crack to save his own ass. He comes from a privileged background, they're not particularly loyal those lot. Especially with those of the working class. Keep pressuring him people, if nothing else you'll make these people think twice about doing it in future. At best he might try to pass the buck to save his own faggy ass. Would be nice to see the pigs get a taste of their own medicine and find out what its like to get grassed up for a change an all.

i think paramilitaries are given free reign because so many of them are informants from both sides of the fued,it keeps the potential trouble at a manageable level,to much interference from police etc could stir up the large mostly uninvolved communities,the inteligence services are happy to just pay informants and keep a lid on it

Going through Belfast airport in 2002 .. a security guy approached to check me ..the chap had a uvf tattoo on his arm ..told him that hell would freeze over before he would be checking me ..he walked away as if he was offended 🙄🙄

And the police idly stood by , says it all really !!

Another clear instance where the rights of the criminal/terrorist, come first and foremost. I would be interested to see if they would allow the family the same courtesy of covering their faces while attending court.

I was wondering when the world of mandated masking would blend into the world of man wearing mask equals bad guy! That said, on a recent court appearance I noticed the quality of security at Laganside Courts, Belfast has diminished since 2019. At that time, there were security men that were in former employ of The Royal Family, probably as military service members. Today, 2023, it's "Rent a Cop" GS4. Dame Justice Keegan could bring the security back within the purview of the civil service as a measure of confidence in Rule of Law, presiding in a jurisdiction where elected politicians routinely go on strike.

As an American I can say that they would not have been allowed in the courtroom and they would be fined or arrested. Like every other country, we required masks during Covid but those masks did not hide their identity.
