A glimpse of Slipway, in the Masaki area. Slipway is an old boating yard with restaurants, souvenir shops, and even boat rides to a nearby island. It's also a nice place to be at night but usually a little busier, especially on the weekend.
There are several hotels in the area if you can afford $100+ a night. There are also several shops locally outside the slipway area in Masaki. Note that Masaki is considered one of the prime real estate areas, if not the most prime location in Dar es Salam. Many foreigners are located here. Other nearby areas include Oyster Bay, Msasani and Mikocheni. The city centre is located some 20 odd minutes away, depending on traffic, and mode of transport.
