I see Mary and Diana told the same Ed Sullivan story to David Letterman. For all their differences, their shared experiences cannot be denied. Also, this interview is a great one because it focuses on the book and not the long-lived feud between the two, which I have seen a lot of interviewers sensationalize over the years.

I met her once at a dance club in L.A. They were having a birthday party for her in the back room and the bartender told me the party was for "Mary Wells" so I thought "I've gotta try to meet her!" So I come strolling up to Mary Wilson, and told her what a fan I was of her and her big hits "My Guy" and "Two Lovers" etc. and this young blonde queen standing next to her looked at me with this horrified expression, but Mary Wilson was so gracious and unruffled (and gorgeous). She just said, "Oh honey, thank you. Mary Wells is a really good friend of mine but I'm Mary Wilson." I just stuttered "I'm sorry. Oh my gosh, I love The Supremes too!" (which was an under-statement!). Mary Wilson was so cool and a total class act! As for queen blondie, he looked like he needed an enema. LOL

You lucked out. I was interviewing celebrities on the red carpet at an awards event and accidentally addressed an actress by the name of another actress that was very similar to hers and people have always got their names confused, so I was the umpteenth one. She chewed me out on camera while it was rolling. A local paper reported it the following week.

Actually, a member of the British Royal Family having a German accent might not be so far fetched since they ARE German. Going all the way back to George I, who was German and didn't even speak English, they also consistently married German up to the current monarch and Queen, who is at least half German. Prince Philip hails from the House of Schlesswig Holstein Sonderburg Glucksburg - German! He took his mother's maiden name before marrying the Queen, that being Battenburg - German. They anglocized it to "Mountbatten." Until 1917, the British Royal House or last name of the royal family was "Sax Coburg Gotha (goat ha)" - German from Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband who was also German. The name was changed to Windsor because of national backlash for all things germanic during WWI. Isn't it interesting that during the first world war, the King of England and the Kieser of Germany, as well as the Czar of Russia were all first cousins.

Prince Philip heils from the royal family of Greece, he was born in Corfu of Greece and his grand father was George I of Greece, who had german origin, from the house of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. Most royal famillies of Europe share common roots from Germany and the UK.

MS MARY WILSON is not only 1 of 3 (Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson & Diane Ross) "ORIGINAL FOUNDING MEMBERS" of the still # 1 FEMALE GROUP of all times "THE SUPREMES". Today for her undivided representation of the group, long after Florence Ballard's replacement (1967) orchestrated by Diane Ross & Berry Gordy to pave the way for Diane's departure in 1969 for her "solo career", as she remained fronting the group 1969 to 1977, today she's revered as their LIVING LEGACY!

Another fact that Mary exaggerated was her proclamation that the Supremes were on the Ed Sullivan Show every week. Actually the Supremes appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show only to promote their latest record. The Supremes had four or five new releases per year therefore the Supremes were on the Ed Sullivan Show maximum five times a year. Even Mary's book documents the day to day schedule of the Supremes and she documents only four or five appearances on the Ed Sullivan per year. The Supremes were always on tour and it would have been logistically impossible for the Supremes to be on the Ed Sullivan Show every week.

How many of the dozens of albums that Mary Wilson released as a solo artist have gone Gold? I think she did one early on called "Red Hot" that I bought and liked very much. Well, IF that IS what she's supposedly Doing, (which it ISN'T.......... except in 'your' eyes.....), she's obviously doing it BETTER than her, by unanimous public opinion! All the comments speak for themselves!

The book is not only thrilling, revealing and factual but enduring, Listed (The New York Times Best Seller List) as AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL not fiction or a novel giving her the status of full flesh author!

Mary Wilson needs to dish the Diana Ross inspired wig, in my opinion.

If only Diana Ross had been fired ... but then again I guess by this time Florence had already been forced out. If not we could have had my 'dream line up' of Florence, Mary and Cindy!

Hmmm. Wonder where that diary was/is, since Mary had to rely on a ghost writer for most of her first book since she, admittedly, didn't recall most of the details. Of course, she *did* conveniently remember "terrible" examples of "Diane" upstaging she & Flo, such as during a radio interview where "Diane" "interrupted" Florence as she relates a story; yet, in unedited audio of that *scripted* interview, it's clear that Diana's "interruption" is rehearsed and part of the script. Hmmm.

He's was not a fan of MARY evidently because of all that negativity in the book, exposing The Supremes,, ,, , ( he's patronizing her) so he talked about tight dresses and wigs,, she fell for it lol lol...

Also Mary Wilson contradicts herself she's talking about Queen Margaret embarrassing her asking if she's wearing a wig ,but yet she's on National Television David Letterman Show speaking about wigs that she wore with the Supremes.....

It was Princess Margaret and no she is not contradicting herself. She is merely pointing out what poor taste it was for the Princess to mention the obvious in such a public situation.

Some of you here are 'showing yourselves!' ....... Looking for contradictions that aren't even the issue. It shows you're not listening TO the interview or TO Mary, but 'FOR' issues to accuse about. It's all in 'That', and there's nothing left to "say" to you!

alicen wonderworld, explaining to the unreceptive is a waste of time! Time waits for no one, and we are running out of time! I've done my research and Diane's "poisson" she crafted well. "Floy Joy" was a bigger HIT than the whole Diane Ross album "Everything is Everything" LOL....That "DUD" didn't produce one single Top #40, she's a "fake mirage" that's run out of gas, at the time also available on Cassette or 8Track!
