Man I miss the 90s!!
Can't get enought!
There have been very few exceptional female songwriters in Country Music. Dolly Parton, the late great Cindy Walker, Lucinda Williams and MCC

Mary Chapin Carpenter's circle leads me to these women too: like you said, Lucinda Williams, but also Shawn Colvin, Gretchen Peters, Tift Merritt, Emily Barker, Allison Moorer, Shelby Lynne, Joann Pochop, Mary Gauthier, and I may come back to add or to correct spelling.
Thank you, lovely Mary!
aka "Mad Dad" Yeah Mark R. You got that right. MaryCC remains as one of Mad Dad's favorite country artists.
Very nice song.

God, I loved the 90s!
Beauriful
I took a walk in the rain one day on the wrong side of the tracks I stood on the rail 'till I saw that train just to see how my heart would react Now some people say that you shouldn't tempt fate and for them I can not disagree But I never learned nothing from playing it safe I say fate should not tempt me I take my chances I don't mind working without a net I take my chances I take my chances every chance I get I sat alone in the dark one night, tuning in by remote I found a preacher who spoke of the light but there was brimstone in his throat He'd show me the way according to him in return for my personal check I flipped my channel back to CNN and I lit another cigarette I take my chances Yes,forgiveness doesn't come with a debt I take my chances I take my chances every chance I get I've crossed lines of words and wire and both have cut me deep I've been frozen out and I've been on fire and the tears are mine to weep Well, I can cry until I laugh and laugh until I cry So cut the deck right in half, I'll play from either side I take my chances I pay my dollar and I place my bet I take my chances I take my chances every chance I get I take my chances Yeah,I don't cling to remorse or regret I take my chances I take my chances every chance I get I take my chances I take my chances
Letterman was the best and had amazing performances like this every night. Come on Come on.

I liked the way he remarked about the particular choice of song at the end. The headlines of the day made it peak relevance, so it was no accident!
Absolutely!

Music as great as always, but the very best lyrics she's ever written. Good of here she didn't flip the channel back to FoxNews.

CNN was okay back when she wrote this song. You flip to it now you won't get news, just an agenda.

There truly isn't anything sexier than class. She's easy on the eyes though too.
Are these days over ?? I pray not
I like the Rickey she's playin
That host there (I forget his name) had no clue who she was 😂
I love her so much. I love Miranda but she’s about the only current one, other than kasey Musgraves, that I like. The 90s country and other genres was fantastic. I miss it
