They sing the same notes. Lashun just has a louder, more belting type style while Karen has the ability to sing in those high octaves and maintain her tone. Listen to both of their records, when LaShun goes higher its more of a belting/screaming style while with Karen, yes she belts as well but she maintains her tone.

@K0961 Karen and her sisters are legends. You can't compare or put up against legends. During the 70's, 80's and 90's Dr. Clark and her girls toured the world teaching people how to sing like this. It started with Twinkie then Karen pick it up and it took off from there.. So far as Rachelle Ferrell I've never heard of her, is she popular??? I'll look her up.... Thanks though.

People kill me trying to compare Shun and Karen! They happen to love each other very much and are inspired by one another! They are both vocal trend setters and have styles of their own! There ranges are about the same LaShun happens to have more weight and resonance where as Karen has more agility and chest power (which explains her ability to grunt and growl so dramatically)! However to ever say anyone would sing circles around LaShun is ABSURD! NO ONE HITS A C6 like LaShun those speculating obviously CANNOT KNOW! YES Karen is more like Aretha but Shun is more like Patti and ARETHA together baby! Not everyone has to do a bunch of acrobats to prove they are great! Some people will belt that tail away with one solid Note... LaShun is one of them! It doesn't take all of that for her might I add her growls are what people love her for! Don't ever try to play Shun Pace!! Unfortunately her health has limited her vocals but she has nothing to prove! And there you have it! I completely hate when people do all these comparisons. They both have gifts from God to give back to him and they are actually using them! Amen! Anybody that personally knows Karen knows she is very soft spoken, humble to the core and her main concern is pleasing the Lord. She has never been any different. Many people have too much time on their hands and half are not using the gifts that God has given them! #imdone
