Being honest, I think people only like it because of nostalgia, and maybe some fanboys over certain characters. Personally, I don't like it because of having 18 X-Men characters, specially since one of them is just a straight clone, and another is one that nobody cares about.

KAIZOKU ARAB l قرصان العرب MvC Origins was just compilation of 2 games with online mode, and both were very small, which was OK by the time. I can understand the whole "bad decisions" thing since I was really pissed at their excuse to not add Black Panther in (it was like the ones for Silver Surfer and X, just dumber). And the roster isn't small, it only needed 6 characters to be on par with 2. Plus, it's just 2 DLC characters, that's not even a fourth of the roster. And no, MvC2 isn't better, it didn't give anything new to characters who needed it (like Iceman and Juggernaut), and added characters nobody cares about like Marrow, Servbot and Bone Claw Wolverine instead of better ones like Thor, Jubilee or Daredevil.

Marvel 2 still has the best Hyper Combo sound effect in the series.

This game still gives me the rush of playing. MVC3 has better voice acting, but this game has more than enough to topple it's successor.

Am I the only that loved the sound and and artwork right before every Hyper Combo?

The first two MVSC games were great. Evey attack felt meaningful and rewarding. The animations were fluid and fun. The character roster is absolutely incredible.

@Swango if we're being honest this game is like a beat em up compared to capcom vs snk 2. Its super unbalanced. It's fun as hell and aesthetically pleasing but the overexaggerated assist specials ruin the tech gameplay

Say what you will about this game, but this game is 10x better than MvC3 imo. A better character roster, all my favorite characters that didn't make it in MvC3 that should have (*cough* Ken, Mega Man and Psylocke *cough*) and just flat out more enjoyable to play.

My favorite were BB Hood's all three and Jill's Tyrant. Man, that monster was awesome. Such a shame neither Chris, Jill or Albert summoned one in their respective MvC3 hypers.

There are 2 versions of wolverine in this game.. look at their claws.

MVC2 was a great game. Huge character roster and each character had their own unique moves and specials.

I personally love the hyper combo portrait that appears right before a character does his/her attack.

i like this 2d style more than the 3d

I like MvC2 more but I kinda feel like the roster is a mess, MvC3 gives more spotlight to a lot more franchises while MvC2 feels more like "X-Men Vs Street Fighter 2: Featuring some characters from Marvel and Capcom."

Raeleka it's a mess because of a assload of new characters that weren't in the first. This was my favorite MVC out of them all. The combos were decent, having 3 characters meant having more replay value :)

Shame Ruby Heart wasn't in MvC3. Loved playing as her

Harborx Well, if you go fucking about in MUGEN, you can basically MAKE your dream roster. The entire MVC2 cast has been converted (And some even improved (Iron Man)) some of the 3 cast has been made into Sprites like MODOK and a much different, yet arguably better Deadpool. Then you can go add shit like Batman an Goku. (Still haven't found and Ammy tho.)

ANewEvilRising A fighting game engine which can fairly simply add characters created by other people. I, myself have a roster of 96 characters including a reworked Venom, Deadpool, Carnage, Batman and... Shaq. No, really.

I love how diverse the the characters from both Marvel and Capcom are. They chose some characters I never even knew about!

Funny I'm still looking for a copy of the PS2 version. Since you can't get it on XBOX LIVE or PSN Store. But the other day I've found it at a video game store and it was the Dreamcast version. My question is, should I buy it before someone buys it. Even though I don't own a Dreamcast?

+Ryu Lord yeah after I buy it. It's going to make me want to buy a Dreamcast right now. Just today I went there and ask someone behind the counter if I can look at the disc. They did let me hold the disc and Goddamn it's was perfect clear. No scratches and no greasy finger print. Hell for a $28.99 rare game like MvC2 that's not a bad price.

The N3groNinja I have not been in that game store in like 2 months ago. I'm probably will or not get it. Last week was a big day for Marvel vs. Capcom. New Marvel vs. Capcom game and UMvC3 on the PS4 with all DLC. So I don't know if I'm going to get it or not.

Actually this game has 56 and the 3rd has 51 (that includes Galactus). Still Capcom should of listened to all these complaints as they might of made the perfect sequel. It won;'t happen now that Disney have claimed copyright of the Marvel characters.

Well, you're sort of forgetting the fact that the majority of the game's roster had their sprites and animations already made in previous games. So that part of the game had significantly less work than MvC3 did, where they had to make new character models, record new voices, etc. And Disney owning Marvel has nothing to do with what characters were in the game. That was all Marvel simply letting Capcom use whichever characters were relevant in the comics and movies at the time. Hence the absence of Venom (the Venom in the current comics is completely different), Gambit (he's not nearly as prominent in the comics nowadays), Juggernaut (same reason as Gambit), etc. Only reason Shuma Gorath got in MvC3 was because Capcom wouldn't stop begging Marvel to use him, and they only let them put him in as DLC as a result.

Wow! So many unique characters! They all look fun to play! *mains Magneto/Storm/Sentinel* Honestly, it's sad that this game is so unbalanced with its sheer number of characters that when I see pros play it, I see less than 8 characters used. Quantity over quality. That's MvC2 in a nutshell.

I liked the jazzy/funky soundtrack, not lousy at all. It was very original. Not that I don't like the epic soundtrack from the previous games and MVC3 either, but this soundtrack stood out more.

Such an amazing game.. duals like Hulk vs Zangief, are great...

I know they probably would have had to try to figure out another Marvel character to put in if they did, but I kind of wish that Karin was in this game. Her strong link Combos and reversals would have been a perfect thing to master in a fast-paced game, and would have made her challenging on harder levels.

Ultimate has 50 36 from the original marvel vs capcom 3 +12 new characters for the ultimate update.So that's 48 + 2 DLC'S.MVC2 is more balanced than this game too so yeah MVC2 FTW.

Still the greatest and still new things to learn about each and everyday about this game.
