Tony couldn’t of lifted Mjolnir since he hadn’t only told the truth. Once Captain America told Ironman about Bucky killing his parents he was once worthy enough. Captain and Thor are the only ones worthy to wield Mjolnir.

The first time he says 'I am Iron Man" he stresses the 'I' in the sentence. Stressing that this is about him and how cool he is. The last time he says 'I am Iron Man" he stresses the 'am' because being Iron Man has come to define who he is as a person. He proved Steve Rogers wrong in every Avengers movie though. If you payed attention, Tony was ready to die in The Avengers (When he carried the nuke to space), Age of Ultron ( When he saved the world by preventing the piece of land getting to high to drop and causing global extinction), and Infinity war (fought Thanos), and Endgame ( repeat of Infinity War except he didn’t make it). Thats 4 times.

With no one to satisfy, it is only their legacy.

The statement is so blunt and simple "I am Iron Man". Yet, it's so meaningful, there is no other Iron Man, there is no other leader or protagonist who had such a complete journey in the MCU, he is the opposite of who he was when we saw him for the first time. It's powerful because he doesn't say "I'm Tony Stark", it's not about ego but he is not any person, he is a symbol, a martyr, the hero that started this all and then saved the universe, he is the one and only hero who can say and has earned the right to say "I am Iron Man".

I just realized... Tony really was missing a piece of himself while Peter was gone... And seeing Peter as he died... Well that was making him rest easy... That he did it. He saved, well, everybody really... Seeing Peter one last time meant that he could rest easy... He did it. Tony did it.

I agree, but I'd like to add that he didn't want to leave his girls behind. He still wanted to be there for them, but when Pepper said they would be okay, he could rest now, he then finally felt peace and that he could finally rest.

it wasn't a box of scraps, he was using several ballistic missiles that he had previously designed. He dismantled them for the parts he needed. The metal he used for the outside was also super durable because it shrugs off bullets like they're pin pricks... If you seriously think anyone could build even the most primitive, beta version Iron Man suit out of a box of scraps then you understand nothing about mechanics

I LOVE THIS. I always laugh when I hear Cap say that Tony is not the guy to make the sacrifice play. And then Tony makes the sacrifice play at end of Avengers. He creates Ultron with best intentions to have better safety on Earth and faces the repercussions when it goes all wrong. He faces the harrowing discovery that his friend's best friend (under mind control, obvi but still) killed his parents, and is forced to watch it happen decades later. He creates and creates better Iron Man suits in order to take on any challenge, whenever. He survives a moon being thrown at him, come on. He goes after Thanos with a teenager and a wizard as his backups. Iconic trio, TBH. He survives in outer space, saved by Captain Marvel. He SOLVES. TIME TRAVEL. And after everything. After everything, Captain America, he makes the ultimate, the ULTIMATE sacrifice play in Endgame. Tony Stark had the BEST character development in the MCU, fight me

@@reedhamkalariya6976 you do understand that they both had character development cap told Tony he couldn't make the sacrifice but Tony made the sacrifice and put his life on the line every Avengers movie and Tony told cap that cap was nothing more than a lab experiment and everything special about him came from a bottle but then we see cap hold the hammer which is way more power than what the serum gave him

After all the MCU movies and especially Endgame... I too may rest now

Tony Stark is basically my favourite character in the whole of the mcu and probably my favourite characters ever. His character is mesmerising and his sacrifice was unforgettable and unbearable. Even after endgame this character will stay in my heart for the rest of my life and i inspire to meet Robert Downey Jr one day to thank him for representing this character the way he did. Iron man will always live on in my heart and in everyone elses❤

The MCU face is gone. But never forgotten Thank you for everything Mr. Stark.

nah your not the only one bawling XD me to :C funny thing to me though. is every other avenger was a hero/heroic pretty much from the start. tony stark is ONLY human. and yet he is the BEST of them. there are GODS, SUPERSOLDIERS, MUTANTS, METAHUMANS, whatever else you got, but he is HUMAN. but he MADE himself the best of them. AND he makes the ultimate sacrifice in the end. hell every movie he was willing to die to save everyone even in the first ironman movie. remember he didn't know he would survive the arc reactor exploding, in EVERY movie, he has fought on the FRONTLINES. EVERY time. in the end it isn't that he was willing to sacrifice himself, in the end it was just that he SUCCEEDED in doing so.

I just realized what Tony's vision during age of Ultron was foreshadowing, The vision that he had is what would have happened if he didnt sacrifice himself either by not snapping his fingers or not getting involved in the fight because of his family. His sacrifice during endgame was him making sure that his vision didnt come to pass.

Something about Iron Man connected with me from the beginning. Robert made him my favorite hero. RDJ was the reason I stuck around for the whole of the MCU. I watched from the beginning. And now part of that journey is the end. And he made the sacrifice play. This is my favorite Iron man/ RDJ tributes I have seen. Will definitely be liking and saving. Thank you RDJ for bringing this character to life for me and so many other MCU fans. We love you 3000! EDIT: Also meant to add that I missed what was said at 00:48. Pepper saying "Your going to kill yourself Tony. I'm not going to be a part of it". Thats tough to watch after all these years and we never knew that meant anything. Because at that time, it didnt mean anything. But he did, he did kill himself by making the ultimate sacrifice and Pepper is there in the end and watched him do it and told him it was ok for him to rest now.

RDJ and tony are my inspirations. I’ve always wanted to be like them. Now I kinda feel lost without him, but I know that peter is going through the same experience and I hope we both overcome this pain. Tony will forever remain in our hearts because he made the sacrifice so his family could live. He’s not just a genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist. He is iron man...we can never forget that...

He didn't just dent it. He founded and shaped and sculpted the foundations and building blocks of everything that came afterwards. Everyone from that first film did.

The thing about Stan Lee's Tony Stark is he embodies the working class, people who are stuck in caves and day by day, buid their future. I remember, 8 years ago I was working with back pain, with no heating, at -2c because I had to help my customers through a difficult time (Year end audit) and they had called me a week prior to the audit. Seeing Tony in the last scene, hammering away was very clear to me. We all are ironman. Those big soul-less corporations dont care about us but none the less, our work will show through results. My respect goes to all you ironpeople out there. Love you 3000!

@@_jack_ryan_9764 I think the platform he stood on is one that will never ever be achieved again, when people saw iron man 1, we would've never thought he'd be here. From iron Man 1, Mark 2, and every fight he's fought, no one would've guessed this. We all loved him and praised him from the start, how Robert made Tony Stark go from a C-list hero, to even more than A-list hero. His Oscar, even if he doesn't get one, is how he has turned over the super hero franchise as a whole, and made superheroes what they are now. He deserves an Oscar, yes, and i can't imagine someone else earning one, even if he doesn't win, the respect, and impact he has made, is worth way more than an Oscar.

@@samurai6561 100% this. I know Iron Man wasn't Marvel's first push into comic book movies but Iron Man is what really flipped the script on what they could be. If it wasn't for RDJ I don't think we would have had this entire franchise, or the X-Men reboots, or even DC films. RDJ deserves an Oscar.

Damn you Slyfer, you did it again. I’m sitting here in tears. Iron Man is my favorite Marvel movie, and RDJ’s Tony Stark is the foundational rock of the MCU. If I see Endgame again, I will just lose it and cry even more than I did the first time. The funeral scene is a killer. When Sam said, “Cap, on your left.”, and I saw Spidey come through one of the portals I lost it. Then Cap picks up the hammer?! “I knew it!” Then Strange gives Tony the “one”. Then one last, “I am, Iron Man.” I was in tears the whole time. At 57, I never thought I’d get the chance to see this. To see my childhood on screen and see it done so well, so powerfully. I hope Feige has something really good up his sleeve, because you really can’t replace Tony. The man who thought he killed The Avengers is the man who saved them. A HUGE thank you to Robert Downey, Jr. The one, the only, Iron Man.

Best character development in the history of all movies ever, especially across such a multitude of universe and time. Such depth, conflicts, sacrifice & love. 3000 words is about right to describe this incredible journey.

He deserved the world. It’s so hard saying goodbye to a huge part of my life. I can’t thank RDJ enough for portraying Tony Stark as amazing as he did. I can’t picture anyone else other than him playing Tony. He’s taught me so much and he’s become such a huge and important part of my life over the past 11 years. I love him 3000 ♥️🙏🏻
