Invoking the In-Betweener so directly here feels like the warring "gods" of the two factions could be Master Order and Lord Chaos. It fits their respective approach - a strict hierarchy focused on science vs. the lone cowboy going by his gut feeling. Plus the one visual appearance we have from one of them is of a golden disembodied head with stern features, like Master Order is typically depicted.

That was my thought as well. This is just a bad idea logically, narratively, almost anyway, you can stretch it. The power scaling already screwed up as is, we don't need to one up God to be interesting. Now, if, like in the case of Dominion, it's meant to be a stand-in for Ai taking over the creative space. This could be an interesting angle to come at it.

When it comes to reading Hickman's work, you have to be fully aware that he plays the long game or the slow burn; something revealed in issue 2 will not show it's importance until issue 20 for example. But if you ride it out, the pay off is well worth the ride =)

I think that all the callbacks to the great collapse, black priests, black swans is very intentional. If im remember correctly...only a handful of characters remember the events of the collapse of the multiverse/secret wars. I think how infinite crisis made all the DC heroes aware of the events of Crisis on infinite earth...this will do the same for sevret wars

The thing with cosmic entities, is that they are all hands off. In reality, they are merely representations of abstract concepts. We've seen this in multiple stories. I think the best example is when Galactus became the life bringer. The first firmament chaining eternity is more symbolic than it is physical. Chaos and order consuming the other entities only happened to show that all of existence was being rewritten. Oblivion is the same way. He doesn't do anything because he doesn't need to. His role has nothing to do with the going-ons of reality itself. Thus, people trying to power scale the cosmic entities is silly. The only things that do have impact are the beings who have agency, like the Living Tribunal, Galactus, The First Firmament, The One Above/Below All, ect.

Time to have this conversation: Is Hickman the 🐐?
