You know Blizzard screwed up when a NetEase game steals its thunder. 😂

You all should check out Gigantic rampage edition too. It comes out in a few days and has really good hero shooter gameplay

as someone who never really got into OW1 or 2, this definitely grabbed my attention, but NetEase being involved has also tempered my expectations substantially. _if_ the monetization isn’t predatory beyond reason, I could see myself putting a decent amount of time into it

I kinda want NetEase to stick it to ActiBlizz and make PVE campaigns and modes outta spite. Low chance but WHAT IF... (the Marvel series)

The Cowboy Bebop cross over almost made me go back but the games kept coming, never found the time to jump back into Overwatch

Overwatch basically ended itself when it put out the As You Are comic last year, along with a few other things.

You know what I would really like to see a marvel vs. DC hero shooter

"Galacta has been in comics for a long time now" huh? She's barely been in anything at all. And even if she was in, comics have been run into the ground and mediocre for a looooong time. And even IF you like the character(although I wouldn't believe anyone if they said that) there are hundreds of other characters they should've used instead

Now they're going to make their money from forcing you to buy whatever character is the Meta at the moment, there shown some UI images and there's a toggle to shoe owned characters and unowned characters, so you're going to have to buy each individual character.

Overwatch isn't dead as many people would like to believe. Lilith skin didn't cost $40, it came in a bundle with more stuff. Rivals has net ease behind it in a free to play game. You should bet it will have heavy monetization schemes and won't just be for cosmetics. And if it is just cosmetics, you can believe it'll be $40 for just a skin and nothing else. Overwatch isn't going anywhere

@gidds617 he also mentioned he only really played back when overwatch 1 was a thing. Overwatch will start making heroes free to all players. Yes they scrapped pve but the current changes on pvp are good for the community.

Overwatch is basically in franchise stasis, it's not gonna die, but it's also not gonna rise above the playerbase that already plays it because of the broken promises. It's just hard for anyone to be excited about new Overwatch content when all the news is about the lack of the significant content that people wanted. That's the reason why people are so disappointed with Overwatch.

OW2 is good fun! This looks interesting so did paladins but I’m already invested in OW so I stopped playing paladins. Rivals could very well be the multiversus of hero shooters but no one is bouncing from SSBU.

As an overwatch fan since release in 2016 I can confirm that overwatch is destroying itself but I don’t see marvel rivals doing much damage since it seem a lot like paladins

If they do this game right. This will be my MAIN GAME 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

If it got a solid PVE campaign, I would try it. If its pay to win, or heroes locked for $ I wont touch it though even if it got PVE campaign.

@@JJ_mike You are blissfully naïve. This is a Netease game. It's so trendy to hate on Overwatch and Blizzard, that people are letting their brains leak out of their ear.

People didn't jump into Gundam Evolution which was a super-competent hero shooter - despite OW2 issues. If this succeeds, it's because of the IP. Although, the Avengers game didn't do what was expected, typically just copying a sub-genre instead of iterating into something new doesn't work (Fortnite clones, anyone?). Overwatch succeeded as a whole, something new, but people have passed on that now. But of course mobile games would succeed (in regards to strike force). I don't see this game doing too well.

Blizzard killed Overwatch 2 before the game even came out by cancelling the PvE and lying to everyone about it being still there. Such a shame as OW1 was a mad game, absolute pinnacle of its time in the scene, sadly we cant all have nice things. Looking forward to Rivals though, Rocket is gonna be my lil guy for sure

The polish and gameplay will set the two games apart. Ow 2 can run at 316fps pretty easily. Marvel can do it but its gonna take some time. If the polish aint there then ow players are not gonna jump ship. Good thing its still early we will see in the beta

MVC did it first and made Marvel synonymous with high level fighting game play. If Rivals does the same v overwatch, well, that's poetry.

Mobile games are like that because it works. It's become standardized. Overwatch standardized the cosmetics model, again because it works. We have no reason to believe that they won't copy the monetization model from Overwatch, which is proven safe and effective. (I don't even gaf I see this game as more a curiosity than anything else. I'm never gonna play it. Most likely.)

I am maybe the only one, but i have a super hero fatigue. The only super hero game, i´m interested in is Marvel´s Blade but just because, there wasn´t any proper Blade game on the OG XBOX and ps2. Besides that i don´t care, about super hero games anymore. I want new games, and not only sequels and super hero games. I understand that video game developement, cost billions of dollars and they want to make, games many gamers want like sequels to successfull games or super hero games. But at this point i rather support new IP´s / franchises like Avowed, Indiana Jones, Kingdom: The Blood, Banishers Ghosts of New Eden and Replaced instead of the 50th super hero game.

Marvel Rivals is pure genius hopefully Xbox abandons Overwatch to create New IP or revive something like Shadowrun FPS 🤯 it was overshadowed and underrated during the FPS Boom

The problem is these companies copy the games instead of improving. 100% these devs won’t really improve the genre and will just slap marvel skins on the Overwatch theme. Similar stages, repetitive modes and battles, and messy balance. It’s a gambling sim disguised as a game.

Everyone thinks this game will kill overwatch and im just looking at the bad track record avengers games have had, honestly im not holding my breath. This is for casuals, the hardcore gamers will be bored.

They are 8 years too late, no one cares about Overwatch like hero shooters in 2024.

Overwatch 2 has been out for a year. What hype are we talking about? And I think this looks kinda bad. Maybe I’m just an Overwatch fan, but it looks the way all the Marvel games look to me. Lots of combos and gimmick things.

Overwatch 2 is in a great state gameplay wise though

I have yet to see a situation where Disney is involved and good things happen.

As smart and “duh, of course” as this game is, the combat looks very janky. Say what you will about Overwatch, the combat is tight, refined, and feels really good.

Well we literally have no idea how polished this game will be on release, so until we see that, your point is useless.. people like the concept of Overwatch, and with Blizzard being Blizzard, even Overwatch itself cannot satisfy that anymore. Maybe this game will work, maybe it won't. Outright saying it will fail when we literally haven't even seen closed alpha is insane.

It’s an emotional opinion that doesn’t hold up to reality; OW1 was practically dead when OW2 came out. Even IF this game comes out as polished as OW1 was… OW2 still blows it away by comparison; they’ve had like 10+ more years to develop/polish everything that people take for granted.

Forgive the skepticism, but 99% of live service Marvel games are probably going to die within a year as they will only be concerned with rinsing people. Also, nobody will be interested in playing as Pepper Potts. Overwatch obviously has issues, but it will 100% outlast this.

The difference is OW2 is out now on PC and all three consoles. This Marvel game won't be out until next year and only PC to start. It poses zero threat to OW2 any time soon...

It's not hard to beat a Blizzard game today, OW2 is dead as is Diablo 4 :)
